Puppy Gal's Recommendations
|
||
Choose a name for your new English Bulldog Puppy prior to bringing it home.Be sure to only use that one name when interacting with it. If a Bully is called several names or variations of a name it becomes confused and not respond to any name.In training refer to it by name as in "Jeb" "No, Jeb", "Good, Jeb". Normally, an English Bulldog has both a formal name for registration papers and a nickname; the nickname should be the only one you use in your interaction with him. It should be short and of one - two syllables if possible. It is much easier to immediately say "Jeb" than it is to say "Sir Jeb of Dogwood Pond". Immediate recognition of both good behavior and inappropriate behavior is essential to learning. My first born, a wonderful Doberman, thought his name was "No" for the longest time and the 'stray dogs that came to stay' come when I call "Kitty", food recognition at it's best. Information presented here is strictly my opinion based upon research and/or 50 years experience at rescuing animals of all sorts. Consult your vet and perhaps even get a second opinion from another vet about all you read on my website. |
