Puppy Gal's Recommendations

First Home Accessories

- Newspaper

About a foot tall stack of old newspaper to be used as a liner in the crate or box before the puppy has been house broken.

- Tee-shirts

Lots of old tee-shirts or sheets for making a bed. They are soft and easily washed. My favorite items are old blankets, bedspreads and children's beds comforters. I fold them in quarters and stitch 4 inches away from the edge all the way around, which makes a nice bed or crate pad and they are easily washed.

Snuggle Safe -Winter

For the first couple of weeks, I recommend using a Snuggle Safe disk which can be heated in the microwave. Heating pads have been known to malfunction and kill puppies. Make sure that the Snuggle Safe is ONLY at one end of the crate or box so that the pup will be able to get off of it should the pup becomes too warm. If the puppy is missing it's litter mates this warm disk sometimes makes them more comfortable since puppies normally sleep piles upon one another.
