On Crates

Most crates purchased at your local pet supply store do not stand up to very much use especially when your Bully is grown. The plastic trays are too lightweight and therefore crack, split and finally have to be thrown away. A replacement tray, if you can find one, will cost you almost as much as the crate I recommend you purchase.

If you properly train your Bully, it will think of his crate as his house, a place where it is comfortable to chew on a toy, eat a treat, just rest or take naps. Sleeping it will always want to do in your bed or on the couch, why not they are much softer than his bed and it has you to use as a pillow!! lol Let me suggest you have two crates one in your bedroom and one in the room you most frequent.

I recommend a Medium size metal crate, which can be ordered from J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies, Inc., item 164-0200-36 #36JB 36” long x 23” wide x 27” high. $54.95 plus shipping. In my opinion, this is the very best Bully Tough crate on the market, plus the door opens inward so it takes up less space!!! Click Here

Regardless of where you purchase your crate, cut the cardboard shipping box to fit the inside of the crate. Lay it inside and then put the tray on top of this liner to prevent constant pressure on the tray from the bottom wire of the crate, or cut a very thin piece of plywood to use as the buffer.

Please note!! Excessive crate time will result in a personality disorder much like being chained up outside. Please, please do not do this. Crating for 4 hours at a time or less is the most desirable. Therefore when you get a new puppy be sure someone can let it out for a potty break at least every 3-4 hours.
