This is the story of 'The Hyena'...

Peanut and I went out in the backyard to check out the flowers and butterflies. We saw several kinds of birds, blossoms and one yellow swallow tail butterfly!

The adventures of Peanut! Peanut is growing very fast. He is almost as big as his sister, "Sugar Cookie"! His right front ankle is a little weak and bows out to the side sometimes so we play in the sunshine to exercise and eat our vitamins every day.

Dumpy, Boomer and Fluffy bounded down the lane to check out a neighbor's dog that was nosing around the gate.

Peanut asked, "Can I go with them?"

"Not yet, Peanut. You need to get bigger and older", I answered.

"But I am a 'Devil Dog'", and off he went as fast as his little legs would go... which wasn't very fast. The other dogs were coming back after telling the stray to go home. Peanut came back and said, "When I grow up, I'll protect you!"

"I know you will, Peanut. And you will protect little puppies, too."

Let me tell you about an American bulldog and an English bulldog that protected some puppies that weren't even theirs! They had seen a hyena that was being mean to his own puppies! So they asked the other dogs in the pack to help chase him away. The dingo said, "Okay" and so did the Belgian shepherd dog. But, the poodle, the dachshund and the wolfhound said, "Not us! Don't get involved! It's not our job!" Which was hard to understand because every time that the poodle had been in trouble both the American bulldog and the English bulldog had gotten them out of trouble! The dachshund and wolfhound had been starving and the bulldogs had helped them, too! Why were they doing this?

The bulldogs and the dingo and the Belgian shepherd dog chased the bad hyena away so far that nobody could find him! The hyena's puppies were so happy! They jumped up and down and licked the bulldogs right on the nose!

And as soon as the bad hyena was gone, the poodle, the dachshund and the wolfhound said, 'Now we will take charge and make sure that things are done right!' They wanted all of the hyena's puppies' food for themselves!

And the American bulldog said, 'You ungrateful, cowardly, selfish, arrogant curs go away and never come back!' And they never did... until winter when they got cold and they got hungry and wanted stuff from the bulldogs.
