This is the story of Peanut and 'Hide the Peanut!'
Peanut heard a new sound this morning -- new puppies crying for their mama.
Amber has four new puppies that the veterinarian (that means the dog doctor)
delivered yesterday. Peanut said that he wanted to see the little ones.
I think he wanted me to check them to see if they were warm enough.
I took Peanut with me while I let Amber get ready to feed her babies.
Peanut stood and watched while each puppy was moved from the sleeping crib
to a nipple. A new puppy has to be held so they can find the right place to nurse.
They can't see yet -- their eyes won't open for a week or two -- but they can smell!
They know what mama's milk smells like and their little noses just move around
until they can feel just the place to lick and suck.
It is a marvelous sight! There is nothing like watching a brand new puppy getting his first meal!

After all of Amber's babies got fed and put back into their crib, and Amber went back to her bed,
Peanut wanted to play with Daisy. Daisy is Roxie's sister.
Daisy is much larger than Peanut. (Most any dog is larger than Peanut but don't tell him...)
But, Daisy is sweet and gentle. So Daisy and Peanut played tag and chased each other around and around.
Daisy thought up a new game called 'Hide the Peanut!'
Guess who didn't think it was a good game!
