Iris Blooming April & May 2008....

How I plant Iris......

Pick a place in the yard partial shade to full sun, lay down several layers of newspaper or thin cardboard about the size of a large bag of potting soil, dump a sack of potting soil on top, lay down Iris rhizome, dump another 1/2 bag of soil on top. Then you water this down with your sprayer head set on "shower". As the soil gets wet and settles you will begin to see the very top of the rhizome, that's good. Doing thus creates an area which will drain well which is what Iris like. I feed them bulb food when planted, then a couple of times during the summer.(Bermuda Grass can't be stopped, it will send runners up and over and come from beneath I hate the stuff.)

The Proper Way to Plant Iris

The key to living a good life is to be able to recognize our needs, not wants, but NEEDS as in.... "I needs more plants". lol
