Puppy Gal Welcomes You ToJudy's September 2008 Journal....I started this feature for friends and family to answer their "What's going on?" emails, therefore, I probably tell too much, but you are welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.If you have been gifted with the ability to love, you are a fortunate person indeed, not all people are capable of loving, some not even themselves. - Judy Hardeman Co. English Bulldog Puppy Pictures Latest Videos.... I just went out to the yard and found that I turned the sprinkler on "full" instead of off. It's hard to tell right from left if it's dark and you're standing on your head. We've been up and down with the puppies every 2 hours, they nurse for an hour then it's catch a nap ... if you can. We're off to chase a lovely dream or two. - Judy Sunday - September 28, 2008 2:47 AM Trying to drop back off to sleep after Bob having been up with puppies, I can't remember cutting off the water sprinkler I had set up late afternoon in the flower patch. Dang, I got dressed and went out in the dark to where I thought the water cutoff would be, felt the hose and sure enough it was still running water from the well into the sprinkler. So now it's back to bed but I think it's almost time to feed the puppies again. Bob takes the first week or so of puppy duty because he doesn't have any problem dropping back off to sleep after having been up with them. Also he's better at newborns than I am. Those little males surely warm the heart and bring a smile to our face. - Judy Saturday - September 27, 2008 3:20 PM
Saturday - September 27, 2008 3:15 PM I've been working hard for 3 hours and am about to drop, anticipating puppies we haven't had much sleep the last 3 nights. I've washed and dried the linens we used for the trip to the vet's, what a mess a c-section makes. I've boiled Petunia eggs, her favorite food, which she is refusing to eat. I gave her buttermilk which she loves but she won't even look at the bowl. Guitarman and the "girls" are begging for it saying she isn't eating it but we sure will. lol lol Of course they all got some at the same time she did, but they can still smell hers because she hasn't consumed same. We're switching up crates and pools. The girls have the large pool and are allowed out when Petunia isn't feeding her puppies, otherwise Petunia would probably take their heads off. She's real mild mannered except when it comes to her babies. Guitarman is in a crate next to Petunia. It's a beautiful day but he barked like the dickens to come inside .. probably didn't want to miss out on the treats. Queenie, the female ditch puppy, wants to be part of the "Bully gang" so bad but when it comes to getting aggressive over the "pecking order" or food she doesn't have good sense and I'm afraid she will start something and not give up until one of them makes her hollar "Uncle". Mama Judy doesn't like aggression at all from any of the critters so the Ditch Puppies have to be kept away from the "strays that came to stay", cats and the Bully gang. Melanie can pen one of the "Ditch Puppies" down in a heartbeat and is doing a pretty good job of teaching them to mind their manners. Now that I'm feeling so much better she and I are going to train that aggression right out of them. I'm about to post pictures of the puppies. They aren't the best but will have to do for today. - Judy Saturday - September 27, 2008 11:30 AM Priss, Priss and do the Bully Butt Wiggle ... we have two beautiful newly born baby Bully boys. Petunia was pregnant after all, it just took a long time for her to start showing because there were only two puppies. I already have a couple wanting one from her so they will be first on my list for me to notify in regard to reserving one of them. Please say a Puppy Prayer because the first 3 days are critical. We're going to have a really hard time with Reba, she wants the puppies all for her very own. Matter of fact she's so insistent that we will probably have to move her to Bob's shop for at least a week or so because she and Petunia could get into a fight over them. I'll post pictures later. - Judy Friday - September 26, 2008 8:30 AM I threw these on the compost pile last fall, low and behold they sprouted and are now blooming. I can't tell you the hard work I've put into growing Angel's Trumpets, if only I had known that the basic pink ones are much more hardy and will winter-over here in the ground, or even in a compost pile. lol lol
Rosie wants everyone to know that she isn't afraid anymore and can now make the toys play the music. So very cute she is, another of Mama Judy's Chickie Girls. Sammie, not to be out done, wants you to know she LOVES the stuffed purple gorilla, purple is her favorite color. She's begging for new batteries so she can hear the song the gorilla plays. We're off to the vets to have Strawberry Pie bred to Peanut again. We'll do this every other day until she is out of heat, which more than likely will be tomorrow. We're all just fat and happy here!! - Judy Wednesday - September 24, 2008 9:00 PM Strawberry Pie, Peanut and Guitarman went to the vet yesterday morning. Guitarman was checked again but there was a problem with his sperm mobility so Peanut was called off the bench to carry the ball, good collection and mobility. We stopped by the "thrift store" to get blankets for the "strays that came to stay" as described below and while there bought several toys for the Sammie & Rosie. I'm sure you are familiar with the toddler toy that plays a song when the right button is pushed and so forth. Rosie was really scared of them when they played a song. She scrambled over the edge of the big pool and into her crate where she felt safe. I left the door open and watched. Sammie figured out how to make all three play and would run from one to another making them sound off. Rosie would get her nerve up when there was a lull in the music and crawl back into the pool. Stinker Sammie would start them playing and off Rosie would go to the crate. At one point, Rosie was brave enough to pick up one of the smaller toys, but when she ran into Sammie with it and it sounded off, she immediately dropped it and popped back into the crate. lol lol Now you know, I didn't get anything accomplished for hours because I had to watch them play. Bullies are truly the "Clowns of The Canine World". - Judy
Wednesday - September 24, 2008 1:30 PMSo what would you do or think if this came out of your dryer??? The Devil's T-Shirt?? I'm sure it came about last year when the Whirlpool Front Load Duet was acting up, it has since been replaced. I use a lot of t-shirts with the puppies and I bleach the dickens out of them. This "work of art" is under one sleeve. I told Bob I thought weirdos on eBay would pay big bucks for it. lol lol Look closely and only only can you destern the devil face, you can also see a Bully face with a pyramid under it, a bat and all sorts of things. It's kinda like looking at an ink blot. It's never dull here!!!! - Judy Wednesday - September 24, 2008 7:00 AM I woke up long ago but just laid in bed restin' and soon found myself counting my blessings. I don't have a lot of material possessions but I have happiness, which is worth so much more. - Judy Tuesday - September 23, 2008 11:00 AM LOL LOL You should see the "little girls" eating their tiny carrots. They are so spoiled that they beg for them whenever they see or heard me eating one. The other bullies not wanting to be left out, started in doing the "Bully Butt Wiggle" for theirs. Melanie expects to be treated the same although she really doesn't care for the carrots. She eats them not to be left out. lol Bob's computer crashed and after reinstalling all the software he found the video sofeware needed to be replaced, he has requested this via snail-mail so it will take awhile. As soon as possible we will catch up on uploading puppy videos.

Tuesday - September 23, 2008 6:40 AM We're definitely busy here!! Strawberry Pie is in heat but when we took she and Guitarman to the vet for an AI yesterday, we got disappointing news. His sperm count and mobility were extremely low and the vet had little hope for "puppies" as a result of the breeding. Since it has been hot during the day and cool at night, I'm hopeful the dramatic change in temperature is the causing the problem, that is a long shot hope!! Oh well Peanut Butter Cookie said he was up to the challenge but if we use him then the puppies can't be registered AKC, he is unregistered ... just the best natured Bully the Good Lord ever made. We saw one of the neighbors at the grocery a few days back and got to talking about the pig that was on the back porch. He said there is a difference between a HOG and a pig, if it ever comes back be sure to call it a HOG so people will know the danger you are facing. Well I did say it weighed between 300 and 400 pounds which pretty much means it was a grown pig. I laughed and told him I thought a HOG was a male and a SOW was a female, with it rushing at me I didn't take time to notice it's gender. lol lol The critters are calling ... Judy Monday - September 22, 2008 3:30 PM Up and working since 5:30 AM, interrupted sleep last night, then couldn't go back to sleep for a very long time. I started working on revisions to the web site, but nature dictated I go "tinkle". Four squares of toilet paper neatly folded and ready, when the bodily function was complete, I wiped ... my arm pit!!! I'll take that as a clear sign that it's time to take a long nap. lol lol - Judy Monday - September 22, 2008 6:30 AM Who was that woman who did a couple of dance steps and sang a few bars of "Disco Duck" while shopping at Kroger yesterday??? I disavow all knowledge. lol lol - Judy Sunday - September 21, 2008 Noon I hope you all are feeling as good as I am this morning. I didn't get but 3 hours of sleep but I woke up perky and was soon dancing to "Disco Duck" being played on the radio. What a crazy little song. Reba is trying to drive me up a wall this morning. I know I wasn't feeling good at the time she was in heat but I swear we didn't take her to the vet's to get an AI, yet she has milk and is acting like a mother-to-be, some false pregnancies are like that in humans as well as other of God's critters. She so wants to be a mother again ... but remember she was so very grouchy that we decided not to breed her. Poor Reba must be going through doggie menopause, hormones racing in all different directions!! Positive point is that she loves Sammie & Rosie, good thing or she would take their heads off. lol lol I got the "girls" a battery operated dog at the thrift store yesterday. It's battery cover is missing and so are it's ears but I was sure they wouldn't know the difference. Jeb was afraid of it, too funny. This morning I over heard Sammie telling Rosie if she ate one of the batteries she would be an energized Bully and could keep up with me. Aren't I silly this morning ... but the critters and Bob are loving it. I'm off to gather Lily seeds to plant inside in January, then transplant into the flower beds in the Spring. - Judy Saturday - September 20, 2008 4:00 PM After the morning chores were complete, we went to the local thrift store in hopes of getting blankets to insulate the crates we use on the back porch as dens for the "strays that came to stay". We've been using old comforters during the winter but they dig at them and rip out the nylon battening which then gets all over the porch and is blown by the wind into the yard. I got lots of sheets and a couple of blankets. The thrift store is expecting 3 more loads of "stuff" this coming week so I'll go back to see if I can get more blankets. I cover all four sides of the crates but prop the door open during the day. If it's real cold I'll lock their doors, make sure they are covered well and plug in the "doggie heating pad" which is at one end of the crates. Tell me these critters didn't know which house to pick as their home ... turkey stew and a warm igloo too. lol lol I hope you are enjoying your weekend. - Judy
Friday - September 19, 2008 2:00 PM Puppies woke us up at 3 AM and we had a hard time going back to sleep, then at 10 til 6 AM someone called on the telephone. I jumped out of bed to grab the phone fearful that there was an emergency but whoever it was hung up when they heard the answering machine message, which is not personalized. I doubt it was an emergency because the person didn't call back so now I'm ticked at being disturbed that time of the morning. About the time we dozed back off to sleep, the critters start making noise to go outside. Bob walked the Bullies while I fixed coffee and breakfast. We went upstairs to eat in peace, after which I made a detour by the bed and didn't get up until Noon. By then I'm in a Bully Butt Wiggle mood making all the critters bark and dance. Bob just looked at me and said he was going to go take a nap and see if I can get up feeling that good. Have a good afternoon and a wonderful weekend. Don't listen to the news you can't do a thing about the state of the economy and it will just get you depressed. I'm sick of political tricks and lies but got really disgusted with Obama's "get in their face" remark ... little good that's going to do. Have you even changed your opinion or did something because you were intimidated?? I haven't. - Judy Thursday - September 18, 2008 8:45 PM I declared this afternoon as "down-time". I about tuckered myself out and had to get in some rest. I did the "had to be done chores", cooked Hot Wings, cooked a batch of my English Bulldog Turkey Stew to pour over the critter food, looked at my beautiful Angel's Trumpets, laughed at the puppies, tried to teach Rosie to stay in the pool now that Sammie has learned but I kept messing up by laughing out loud at the expression on her face when she "got caught" then acted like it was real hard to crawl back in the pool ... then I sat down!!! (By late this afternoon when Rosie crawled out of the pool, I had only to call her name in a low, loud voice and she would scrambled back in. lol lol) Bob worked so hard that he was on the verge of getting grouchy, a mood he seldom visits. The days are cooling down, we have approximately 30 days until the first frost and we have much to do to get ready for winter. - Judy Wednesday - September 17, 2008 10:15 PM My 2nd computer bit the dust yesterday so Bob had to rebuild it, reloading the operating system establishing connections to email, the webs ite server etc. It was a long processm plus we worked hard doing chores and playing with puppies. lol lol I simply forgot to make an entry to this journal. It could be that in addition to all the rest we were doing I was trying to train the puppies. They are getting out of the large pool to go visiting. I have them to the point of when I see they are out and say "NO" they scramble back into the pool ... it's too funny. I should have take a video of that but I didn't think about it. There is a new video in the process of being edited to upload to YouTube so check back late afternoon or early night to see it. Rosie (black face markings) & Sammie (white face) ...both are staying here with us, at least for the time being.
Grab a hold of the good times when you can because they will bring smiles of remembrance when the times aren't so good. - Judy Monday - September 15, 2008 1:15 PM Oh my goodness!! It had to be the allergy pill I had taken that made me feel almost drunk. When I answered the telephone and a voice I recognized said "I called to see what you were doing because my life is so boring." I laughed and laughed before gain enough composure to tell her obviously she liked it that way or it wouldn't be so. This has been our standard "conversation start" for 40 years now and when I tell her "what's happening" she laughs and laughs. It keep telling her it's all a matter of prospective, I would look some of life's happenings straight in the eyes while she runs out the door. (Once I was at her house, we were in the den and heard something out in the back carport, ever so often we would hear it again. We were both frightened but I told her there was no way I was going to sit there scared, I was going out to see what it was. I turned out to be one big ole cat in her firewood box much to my relief. When I came back inside she was flatted up against the inside wall beside the door holding a fire poker ready to bash whoever it was that had gotten me. lol lol) This conversation is one of the first in which I really didn't have anything exciting to tell her. After I got off the telephone Bob wanted to know why I didn't tell her about the Pig on the back porch, Melanie the rescue German Shepherd, the ditch puppies we rescued, all my beautiful Angel's Trumpets or the other hundred things that have happened in the last year ... I guess my mind was dulled by the allergy pill!!! - Judy Sunday - September 14, 2008 2:15 AM Check back a little later for the new video which is in the process of being uploaded to YouTube as I type. You can click the above link and see all the videos we've uploaded. Rosie (black mask) & Sammie (white face) ...both are staying here with us, at least for the time being.
Sunday - September 14, 2008 8:15 AM Oops I forgot to tell you that the Balsam is actually "Momordica Charantia" and is used in various "country or tribal medicine". There are many common names for this fruit one of which is Bitter Melon, but there are two varieties by this name, one is a cultivated variety and the other is wild. What I can't reconcile is the fact that it is suppose to be a tropical vine, but yet it has spread into the wild in many southern locations, including the state of Kentucky which definitely isn't tropical. One web site stated it was poisonous and others didn't. Oh well, I often find conflicting information on the Internet. - Judy Sunday - September 14, 2008 8:00 AM Up at 4:30 AM to check the internet weather web site. At one point in time the tail-end of Ike was suppose to whip through our area, that has since changed but we weren't taking any chances. There was just enough time to take the critters for their morning walk, but it was still dark. Cherry Cookie was demanding to go out so Bob opened the door. She came to a screeching halt at the edge of the back porch and I could almost hear her say, "it's still dark". To which we replied, "we tried to tell you". She did a u-turn back into the house. None of the older Bullies had expressed a desire to go out and I'm sure they were saying sage things like, "you'll be able to tell when you're older, that's why God gave you a nose so you could smell and didn't anyone tell you that rain smells like damp dust in the air. Meanwhile, Sammie was scrambling into the kitchen cabinet under the sink, so bottles of mouth wash, dish washing liquid and dry sponges were flying. She grabbed one of the stainless steel scrub pads and took off for the pool. It's going to be a long day. - Judy Saturday - September 13, 2008 7:45 PM
I've researched this "fruit" on the internet and it's interesting. The man I bought it from told me it would pop open to release the seeds and sure enough when I went to take it out of the bag tonight one had already split. Interesting isn't it!! I'll tell you more about it tomorrow ... right now Sammie is determined to get out of the pool and go roaming but Rosie is telling on her by barking for her to come back and get her. lol lol I have no idea what I'm going to do with them tonight so we can get some sleep. - Judy Saturday - September 13, 2008 1:30 PM I could have sworn that I made a journal entry yesterday and probably did but I'm having major problems with my ability to upload files and receive emails. I'm getting really frustrated and have just about decided to redesign my website, direct all emails to a forum type file and answer them online, that is if I can find such a program or if I can hogtie Bob long enough for him to create one for me. He's a computer guru and can do amazing things with computer code. I'm just your basic muddle through it type with no formal computer training, but lots of hands-on. lol lol We got up early, 4:30 AM, so that we could get the "must do" morning chores completed and then be on our way to the Corinth, Mississippi Farmer's Market before all the good stuff was "sold out". I have to confess that I ate a dozen ears of sweet corn in 4 days, it was absolutely the best I have ever eaten. Unfortunately, the vendor who sold the corn last Saturday as not there today. We did purchase a few items from our friend "Garden Geek Jo" and visited with him for a few minutes. I met this man who had a homemade "liniment" for arthritis made from Balsam, weird looking fruit part of the vine. We left, then I asked Bob if he would turn around and go back because I wanted to buy 3 of the fruit so I could tell you all about it. I was going to start off "pulling your leg" by telling you that I got a potion from the descendants of Marie Laveau, Voo-Doo Queen of New Orleans, but I just am not up to spinning such a tale this afternoon. lol We hadn't thought to take our camera, neither had Jo, but I'm hopeful Jo will be able to get pictures of the actual potion the next time he sets-up to sell his produce. Next we went to Wal-Mart for basics such as milk and cornmeal. I'm so weird, I've had trouble peeling Wal-Mart egg when they are boiled, therefore I have to purchase eggs from another grocery store, Gardners, so we stopped there next. By this time Bob is the one who is worn out but I'm ready to go on down the road and see what's happening. All of a sudden I got hungry and since he was tired, we came home!! Work hard to make your dreams become a reality. - Judy Thursday - September 11, 2008 Noon I slept until 7 AM, then pulled myself out of bed and down to the kitchen to start the day. Bob was sitting with a cup of coffee trying to listen to a talk radio show. My being there caused all the critters to start barking, whining and bouncing around. He was so disgusted and said he had been up since 4 AM because Cherry Cookie wanted to go "out" but changed her mind at the back door when she realized it was still dark, she's Mama's Chickie Girl. My announcement of "waking up sweating like a pig under 3 layers of cover but happy as a clam" wasn't appreciated. lol lol I just now asked him if he was grouchy to which he responded "NO!!". I added "And I mean it". lol lol I have to tell you a story. We had just gotten out of the van at a grocery store in Corinth, Mississippi and found ourselves witness to a verbal dressing down by a woman, toward a person we assumed was her husband. He was getting in their car and accidently bumped the grocery bag with the car door. I suppose trying to stay out of our way. The woman blasted him GOOD about the careless manner in which he treated the eggs. Such a mean outburst of hateful words we seldom encounter down here, the South. In shock I said to Bob, "All those hateful, harmful words over 88 cents (the eggs were on special). I'm sure the man would have paid a lot more not to have been abused in that manner especially in front of strangers." Now if one of us gets testy the other one will say "those eggs only cost 88 cents". Put a dollar value on everything you get upset about and see if it is worth the price. - Judy Thursday - September 11, 2008 9:30 AM A new video was uploaded last night so click on the above and view them all. Have a good day. - Judy Wednesday - September 10, 2008 1:30 PM Sammie learned a new trick last night, going from the big pool into the little one to sleep by herself which greatly alarmed Rosie. Rosie barked and cried at her wanting her to come back ... "my don't want to be alone". When we went to bed, I told Bob we will never have a peaceful night's sleep again. However sometime between 3 AM and 6 AM Rosie got brave and crawled into the little pool with Sammie. Now that she knows how they will be going back and forth all the time. I think I'll try some cedar shavings in the smaller pool to see if they will use it to do their business, then I can move the shavings to a convenient place outside and hold my breath in anticipation of them learning quickly. I suppose I should explain the pictures below ... Jeb smelled cabbage cooking and started begging. I have him an outer leaf and it was so funny to see him shake it like he was killing it before he ate it. I kept telling him, it wasn't alive. Since we were two feet from the puppies they started begging also. so I cut the core into 4 pieces and gave one to each of them plus Jeb and Cherry Cookie. I've been a puppy mama longer than I want to remember so I know how to monitor them closely to ensure they don't choke, etc. I wouldn't advise you to give your Bully Cabbage core unless you are very experienced. It was funny to watch them eat it because Rosie could bite off small hunks but Sammie couldn't master the process. Sammie would wait until she saw Rosie drop a small hunk, then she would rush for it. Sammie wasn't greedy she would lay her core down hopeful that Rosie would bite off more. lol lol Too funny!!! We're going to take a nap now since we didn't get much sleep last night. - Judy Tuesday - September 9, 2008 9:45 AM Rosie (black mask) & Sammie (white face) ...both are staying here with us, at least for the time being.
Tuesday - September 9, 2008 7:15 AM The English Bulldogs are pretending to be asleep so they won't "have to go" out in the rain. Melanie, rescued German Shepherd, looked at me as if to say, "you know I'm afraid of storms". There is just a light sprinkling of rain at present but the radar indicates there are a few short lived, high intensity storms, which will pass through our area within the next two hours. Oh My, there I go talking about Mother Nature as if she were predictable. I don't know what is wrong with the YouTube videos ... they make the puppies look long and lanky. I'll ask Bob to take a look at them while I fix breakfast. We're probably going to have grits with butter, salt and pepper, toast and a cup of Cuban Espresso coffee. In a couple of hours, we'll have a fruit snack and for lunch we'll munch on watermelon, boiled eggs and cucumbers. Bob will probably have a serving of pasta with meat sauce, but I'll stick with the lighter foods. Bob's went to walk the Bullies because Cherry Cookie decided we were between rain showers and she had to "go" bad. I best go help out. - Judy Monday - September 8, 2008 7:00 PM View the latest videos on the above link. Open the link and all the videos we've uploaded to YouTube will start playing, latest first. I hope you enjoy!!! - Judy Monday - September 8, 2008 1:30 PM Whew!!! Just sat down after working hard all morning. Little by little I'm catching up on chores ... some I should have done months ago, like weeding flower beds and dusting the weird junk I've collected over the years. They are on the bottom of the list and won't be done for awhile, but I'm making progress. lol lol I must do "Fall House Cleaning" before we shut the house up for the winter but it's so packed with stuff, too good to throw away and not worth keeping, that it is a real chore .... move this, dust there, move it back, oops the sunlight just came in the window and the dusting needs to be done again. Who's going to wash all these windows??? The floors, where the critters are allow, have to be swept every day. Critters stop spilling dry food everywhere. Bob if you spill it, clean it up. Oh you're busy walking and cleaning up after the grown English Bulldogs, Cherry will bark like crazy until she gets fed so in your haste you forgot ... sounds so reasonable, meanwhile ouch I just stepped on a piece of dry food. I know I could solve that problem by wearing shoes. Jeb I'm going to let you out but if you just go sit in the middle of the drive in the sun and not come in when I call you ... we are going to have a problem!!! Plus I'm going to tell everyone about the time you decided to be BOSS and ended up hiding behind the trash can on the side porch because you knew you were in big trouble. Was it the pitcher of water I dumped on your head or did you all of a sudden realize you had challenged your Mama, the wrong person??? I'm off and running. - Judy Sunday - September 7, 2008 2:30 PM These flowers partially close a little after daybreak but open back up after the sun goes down. They emit a wonder fragrance which attracts pollinators, mainly Hummingbird Moths (green horned caterpillar seen munching away on tomato vines, peppers and such turns into this intriguing moth.) Saturday - September 6, 2008 10:15 PM Most of you know what this Southern woman does when life tries to get her down .... she cooks. We made a trip to the Farmer's Market, I took a nap, then cooked from this afternoon until just a few minutes ago. The refrigerator is packed full of fresh vegetables that I've cooked up and they are microwave ready; boiled okra, sweet corn on the cob (shucks left on, cooked 3 minutes each in the microwave), yellow squash pan fried, cole slaw both green cabbage with creamy dressing and red cabbage with a sweet orange dressing, cucumbers peeled and sliced, grits ready to nuke and eat for tomorrow's breakfast, plus fruit salad with coconut sour cream and yogurt. That is all I can remember right now, but there is no telling what Bob will find when he starts looking around in the refrigerator. Cooking makes me feel better emotionally ... notice I said cooking, not eating. lol lol Bob asked if I thought Li'l Cookie would like boiled okra, since there is enough to feed the neighborhood. We're off to bed, I've kept us running hard all day, so there was no time to dwell on the sad part of life. - Judy Friday - September 5, 2008 6:15 PM
Charlotte's condition changed dramatically this afternoon so we made the decision to allow
her to leave this world without suffering additional pain. I wish I could tell you that I'm
handling this well but I'm not. Bob is holding it together while being a big enough person to
forgive me for being such a hag ... I'm so upset I don't even want puppy kisses. - Judy
Friday - September 5, 2008 10:00 AM English Bulldog Talkin'.....
Li'l Cookie wants you to know that it was awfully hard to lick up the peanut butter but avoid
the smashed bananas, when she was given the leftover peanut butter and banana sandwich fixings
at lunch yesterday.
Reba's spoiled ... she said she wasn't gonna eat just plain Eukanuba soaked in water for
breakfast this morning, she wanted turkey!!! Li'l Cookie was very encouraging to Reba ...
because Bob gave her Reba's bowl after she had
finished her own.
Cherry Cookie ... doesn't think it's fair that Jeb got the pink sheet for a bed, after all he's a
male and she's a girlie girl. Jeb told her to take the stinkin' sheet but he wanted her "bone" in
return. .... I sure wish these critters would stop with the chatter. - Judy Friday - September 5, 2008 8:30 AM Although Charlotte didn't attempt to move, she gave kisses earlier this morning. Here are some pictures that I hope you will enjoy, I just couldn't help but take pictures of the puppy butts. Isn't Rosie's tail cute, although not the most desired!!!

Thursday - September 4, 2008 8:50 PM First a video of the puppies to make you smile, then some sad news. We don't expect for her to make it through the night. - Judy Wednesday - September 3, 2008 8:30 PM At 3 AM this morning, I put a turkey in the oven which will mainly be used for adding to the critter's food. I had so much fun later feeding small bits to the puppies. Bob was taking a video but when finished he realized the batteries had run down so "no video" to share. They were too cute and got so very excited about eating their little bites of turkey. I made them wait their turn because it teaches them to be patient and to do as I tell them. It should go without saying that the adult English Bulldogs got turkey treats also, plus the strays that came to stay. I didn't get around to the cats but they'll get theirs in the morning. After catching up on all the of the clothes and dog bed washing, sweeping the floors, washing dishes, deboning the turkey with scraps put in a pot to slow cook over night to use as the base for a doggie stew, cooking a pot roast for us and cleaning up after cooking plus walking the critters between rain showers, I'm more than ready for bed, but it feels good to get started on getting the house in order. I got an email today telling me that a friend had died suddenly ... made me sad plus reminded me that we have today but are not promised tomorrow. - Judy Tuesday - September 2, 2008 7:30 PM I finally made a decision in regard to Rosie ... she is going to stay here with us at least long enough for me to determine if she is going to be a Mini or not. If she's a mini then she will stay here period, but if she's going to be normal size then she will be placed. Remember I thought for sure that Li'l Cookie was going to be a mini, but now I realize I should have named her Chubby Cookie. lol lol By the way she is one beautiful English Bulldog and in my humble opinion show quality. She comes from a long line of champions, her great grandfather was Dingman's Badger, but that is another subject that will get me into trouble. I've no experience with showing because I don't have the temperament to deal with politics. lol Have a good night and hopefully I will take a video of the pups and post them tomorrow. - Judy Tuesday - September 2, 2008 2:00 AM The critters and the news reports on Gustav had my full attention yesterday. I suppose I should just ignore the weather reports because there is nothing I can do about what is happening, but ... I will have to admit that I get so mad at people who elect not to evacuate. I know it is a hard decision but staying does not justify risking their life and the life of the rescue workers, who might die trying to save them if they get in harms way. Those not wanting to leave their pets, need to locate a facility out of harms way. Mississippi had several shelters and motels which accepted both people and their pets. Plus here are several websites which list motels that allow pets. All here is going well. We are working hard to catch up on chores which have gotten behind because we've spent so much time with the puppies. Those puppy kisses are so nourishing to the soul and we can't help but stop to watch them play. Yesterday they were laying as if almost asleep on opposite sides of the food dish and occasionally a tongue would dip into the dish. What a lazy way of eating. Too bad the camera wasn't handy. Sammie was crawling to the top of the stuffed bear and jumping off. When I asked what she was doing she said "practicing landing", seems Jeb told her Bulldogs could fly but it was the landing that got them in trouble. She became a true believer when Li'l Cookie went sailing into the pool but landed face first. (lol lol) Time to cut off this crazy imagination of mine and go back to bed. - Judy Click Here Judy's Garden 2005!!
