Petunia's Puppies Smart Cookie's Puppies Reba's Puppies Scrolling Pictures & Video Clips moved to English Bulldog Puppy Pictures Midnight and I'm snuggled up in the cool bedroom with a light blanket sound asleep having sweet dreams when Bob puts his cold self up next to me, he had been downstairs feeding the puppies then outside to walk Lisa Marie. Needless to say, that woke me up, then I start sneezing and it progressed into an allergy attack, so now I'm really awake. 3 AM and I finally drift back to sleep. We had decided we needed to be up and going strong by 5 AM to get our morning chores complete so that we could meet Bob & Gail for them to get TN Rose. I turned over and went back to sleep. Bob meanwhile got up and started working. At 6 AM he called to me again, I forced myself out of bed. We made it to Bob & Gail's motel by 8 AM and they were delighted with Tennessee Rose. She is precious. Their grandson was with them, he's a little shy and has never been around dogs so he was a little afraid of her but Rose will have him trained in no time. lol lol I told them they could spoil her rotten just so long as they maintained discipline. Don't let your puppy do at 10 pounds what you don't want it doing at 50 pounds. I hope you enjoy these pictures.
Saturday - September 29, 2007 6:00 PM Message to Bob & Gail: Got your message!! See you at 8 AM - Judy Saturday - September 29, 2007 9:15 AM We're finished with the first round of morning chores and we're exhausted, more like tired and grouchy .... I called the Post Office to ask if they had a Priority Delivery for me this morning and they do so I asked them to hold it there and Bob would pick it up. He's gone to get it now. As soon as he gets back we are putting up the "No trespassing" sign at the driveway entrance, leaving telephone calls to the answering machine and are crawling into bed. We need at least a good 4 hour nap, but the little puppies will need to be fed in about 2 hours. We'll leave it to Lisa Marie to sound the alarm, low bark, when they wake up and start crying. Have a wonderful weekend. - Judy Saturday - September 29, 2007 6:00 AM Oh Goodness, I worked on the website, editing, resizing, uploading and producing computer programming code to display the pictures for 7 straight hours yesterday, meanwhile Bob took care of the puppies. When I finished at 7 PM, I took an hour break reading the news via computer, before feeding and cleaning up after the puppies. Then I was "wired", I couldn't go to sleep until after 11:00 PM. I'm just now crawling out of bed. Since Bob took the night shift with the puppies, I got to sleep 7 straight hours!! Isn't he wonderful!! - Judy Friday - September 28, 2007 6:00 PM I'm in the process of uploading pictures of Reba's Puppies to her litter page. Reba's Puppies The page will take a long time to load therefore I'm going to post one picture of each pup here. She may be a mini, small like Mini-E and Elvis

I'm in the process of uploading pictures of Smart Cookie's Puppies to her litter page. Smart Cookie's Puppies The page takes a long time to load therefore I'm going to post one picture of each pup here. It will take awhile to complete this project. Hooty - ![]() Nana - ![]() Punkin - ![]() Ranger - ![]() Friday - September 28, 2007 10:30 AM Whew!!! I'm running in 3rd gear trying my best to keep up with LIFE!!! Plants, puppies, supplies, emails asking me questions they should ask their breeder, up and down all during the night, phone ringing, people wanting to know weird things like a good Bulldog Vet in CA ... I don't know if I'm going or coming!!! AND I'm not getting to enjoy my Angel's Trumpets (Brugmansia) which have finally bloomed!!! This house may never be clean again!! I'm releasing Smart Cookie's puppies 10/6 and I'm trying to make arrangements with the new parents today. If you are one of them and have not received an email from me I can assure you one has been sent so please pick up the phone and call. Life does get hectic, but I'm the one who is getting to snuggle with the puppies, laugh at the cute things they do and get loads of puppy kisses. - Judy

Thursday - September 27, 2007 4:30 AM We took Smart Cookies puppies to the vet for their well puppy physical and they passed with flying colors. Dr Frank repaired Ranger's umbilical hernia, Punkin has a tiny one which Dr David said shouldn't cause her a problem but recommended her new vet evaluate it when she's taken for her puppy shots and perhaps have it repaired when she is spayed. We also took Faith because she was the one that was acting like she had colic, then it went away but came back again. She had a small hernia also but he said it could very well be causing the problem therefore he repaired it. Bulldogs are prone to have small umbilical cord hernias therefore we take precautions. They can be caused by a couple of things: mother licking the newborn too hard, cut too short during the c-section, clamp being too heavy for the cord after it's cut and this is the reason we use human baby clamps that are disposable they are light weight. With Smart Cookies puppies she did not have a c-section therefore the hernias and with Reba it was after hours and we couldn't locate the light weight clamps. The vet tech had put them in a "special place" but she wasn't there. lol We seldom have hernias and now a rash of them. Tennessee Rose is being picked up by her new parents on Sunday and they will find she is a character. She will entertain herself for hours on end and in the process make us laugh. She loves to lay on her back and play with her toys like she's a human baby. Then all of a sudden, she will bark at one of us to pick her up for some loving. The only other time she barks is when she's hungry. How we can tell the difference is when she's hungry she licks the air, after a bark. lol lol Warning: Don't bid on eBay if you don't really want to win!!! I bid $2.75 for a bunch of Yellow "no name" iris and the same amount for an equal amount of Purple "no name" Iris, never thinking I'd win, but I did. Now I have so many iris and daylilies to plant I'll need a tractor to till up a new garden. lol lol Wednesday - September 26, 2007 5:30 AM When Bob took the video of Punkin, he was making weird sounds which really set her off. Normally they are peaceful and quiet unless they are hungry, I promise. Yesterday we went to Corinth, MS to get supplies. Tuesdays are bargain days in that the grocery stores mark down the meat with the Tuesday "sell by date". We buy the meat and put it in the freezer to be cooked for "our gang" later. Short on time because the youngest puppies need feeding every 3 hours, we split up the list of things to be gotten at Wal-Mart and met at the check out counter. Our next stop was the butcher shop where we bought 32 pounds of neck bones to boil up, take the meat off and make pork stew with lentils, sweet potatoes and rice or plain pork gravy for the critters. I season it with rosemary, thyme, garlic and pour it over their soaked kibble. The strays that came to stay and the Ditch puppies, get the bones which crush easily in addition to the stew or gravy. We also got 10 lbs of cracklin's for treats they cost a pretty penny and 6 whole pork livers for pork liver treats and gravy for their food. Is this crazy or what!!! Oh, it never fails that this one man who waits on the counter says, "you want 6 whole pork livers" like it is the most outlandish thing he has ever heard. lol lol Be kind, be gentle, unless pushed into a corner, then come out like a lion. lol lol - Judy Tuesday - September 25, 2007 4:30 AM Suggestion for the new puppy owners, go to a yard sale or thrift store and buy lots of stuffed toys, be careful not to get those which have parts they can pull or chew off. You can toss them in the washing machine with detergent and bleach to kill any germs and then let them air dry, few will survive the dryer. We washing them over and over again. They love their stuffed animals. Another thing they like are baby rattlers, the baby stuff toys that have the rattler sound to them, baby keys again because they make noise. Right now Hooty is downstairs having a ball trying to make a stuffed animal talk, I've shown him the animals paw to bite ... he's bitten everything but that. lol lol
Monday - September 24, 2007 3:20 PM The moral to this situation seems to be "Just because they can doesn't mean we should let them". The English Bulldog Breed was not bred to be agile they were bred to be strong. They should not be allowed to jump on and off of platforms, beds, porches, vehicles, especially sports utility vehicles, etc. because doing so might cause damage such as described below. My heart goes out to Tristin & Charles because I didn't tell them not to let her jump on and off a high bed. Had I known they had I high bed I would have. We never allow ours to jump into or out of the cargo door of the van because it sits high, although they surely want to do it themselves. Our old van sat lower and they could go in and out of the side door easily. From: Tristin Sent: Tuesday, September 18, 2007 Subject: RE: Update on Precious HI Judy, Well, we have been going through a lot. Apparently the initial diagnosis of Lyme disease, which had been confirmed by blood test, was incorrect. We have been through three vets and the ones we have now are certain it’s an orthopedic / back issue. They think it may be the very early stages of IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). They have her on pain killers, and a diet (she went from 47 pounds to 51 pounds since last Nov, and they think that’s part of the strain on her back) , and limited exercise with no running or jumping. She’s in pain. I blame myself for letting her jump on and off a high bed for two years. Anyway, that’s the update so keep her in your prayers and we will keep you updated. Whenever I need a smile I go to your web page and look at all your little darlings. Give our love to Bob. Xoxoxo Tris ** Side note, on 9/25 I asked Tris to send me a picture of the x-ray taken with a ditigal camera for my vet to give a second opinion. I'm betting it's a pinched nerve. - Judy Monday - September 24, 2007 3:20 AM Isn't this the nicest e-mail - Judy Friday, September 14, 2007 Dear Judy and Bob, The new babies are adorable!!I like the names Danielle and Benjamin. If I was still looking for a puppy, I would put my name in for Lil Cookie. She has the roundest head!!You two must surely be exhausted, I get sleepy just thinking how many times you are up in the night. But I have to tell you it sure is appreciated by your new parents. Our Gracie is the best puppy we have ever had (and we have had our share). Never had a bit of trouble adjusting to her new home, never chewed a thing she shouldn't and is the most demonstrative with her emotions. There is never a "oh, hi, were you gone?' but "OH BOY,I'M HAPPY TO SEE YOU!!!wiggle wiggle" As you can tell, we are all totally in love with Gracie. All 3 of the other ones have accepted her too. She plays with the 2 big ones and snuggles with the 9 year old.I can't believe she is 5 months old already. Well,I know you are really busy. Try to rest and enjoy those babies. Lynn Monday - September 24, 2007 9:20 AM My friend Twyla in Oklahoma who is battling cancer sent this to me yesterday so I thought I would share it with you all. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about those who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would most likely be worth it." By Michael Gartner Sunday - September 23, 2007 10:00 AM I just got the dickens scared out of me. Someone was ringing the door bell, I got up from the computer, woke Bob up and headed downstairs. On the way it rang again then I could hear knocking on the door. Urgency sounding!! I opened the back door to a skinny young lady wearing medium high heel shoes with clothes to match, When I opened the door, she took a step forward as if to enter the house, saying I need to use a telephone. I blocked her entry by stepping forward, she stepped back and I closed the door behind me. Point of reference here... English Bulldogs are the number one stolen dogs in the USA, I need to use a telephone is the number one entry method of robbers. Sending a sweet young thing to catch the person off guard is also a highly used mode of entry. I demanded to know who she was and why she needed to use my phone. Ashley she said and I need a ride to church so I need to call my Aunt & Uncle. That meant nothing to me!! So I drilled her more and she started to cry. Oh no ploy or real??? I asked if she was the Ashley who lived in the trailer down and across the road who was all grown up now? or the Ashley who lived further down the road. She said she use to live in the trailer, not telling me which one, but doesn't anymore that's when the tears really started to flow, there were problems and now she lives with her Aunt & Uncle who have custody of her. I hugged her and said we've scared each other. Told her about having puppies and them being the #1 stolen dog. Told her she didn't need to use the phone because I would take her to church. Then I thought ... I can't take her because I drank 3 oz of wine hopeful it would help me go to sleep. Meanwhile Bob saw that I was talking to a young lady so he went back to bed. He thinks I can take care of any situation!!! lol lol I called to him, he answered and I told him he needed to take a young lady to church. I don't know if you are a believer or not, but sometimes the Good Lord sends to me those who need tender loving care. I think this Ashley is one of those. - Judy PS It's at least 1/2 mile from the main road to our house a gravel road, she said she walked that far in heels??? Her tears were too much for the situation, I kept asking her what had happened to her. Sunday - September 23, 2007 8:00 AM I've been driving around in the "big city" looking on every street corner for a person holding a sign saying, "Will work for English Bulldog Puppy". You know I'm kidding, but we are exhausted. We've crawled in and out of bed so many times, we can't even say for sure that we got any sleep. The last time I crawled out was at 5:15 AM and when I got down stairs, I found Bob holding the colic puppy while watching Lisa Marie feed her puppies. He had prepared coffee and it was a welcome sight. We've gotten the first round of our morning chores completed and are too tired to think about breakfast, it's not on the "must do NOW list", so it is being skipped for now, maybe later when we get up from the nap we are about to take. Remember the couple of hours we took out of our schedule to visit a friend and trade plants? Well she is going to share the elephant ears with another friend, closer to her than me, and I'm going to share the Iris with a friend, who is closer to me than her. Now isn't that wonderful, four people getting new plants and warm feelings of being cared about by others. It doesn't take money to make a person smile, a heart felt expression of caring, works every time. - Judy Saturday - September 22, 2007 9:37 PM Gracious, have you ever had a baby with colic or been around one? If so, you know what we are going through with one of the puppies. We've never had this before, it's always something new, so we are taking turns walking the floor with her. I think it was caused by us running out of "human baby formula milk" so I gave them a "well known" brand of evaporated milk over their soaked Purina Puppy Chow. Bob bought some baby formula when he met Lily's new parents today, so hopefully that will resolve the problem by morning. Think about us in the morning when you get out of bed "well rested". lol lol - Judy Saturday - September 22, 2007 12:30 PM
Saturday - September 22, 2007 10:00 AM I was up until 1 AM helping with puppies, sizing the pictures, uploading them to the server and writing the programming code to display them in the scrolling fashion. Then I got back up at 5:30 AM to help with chores and get things ready for Bob to take Lily to meet her new parents. This is the second puppy they have gotten from my bloodline, so they visited with us back when I had puppy pickup parties complete with a BBQ luncheon. Since I've been sick I'm lucky to keep up with my chores, much less keep the house "company clean". Evidently there is still a problem with people being able to get emails from me, it may be a problem with between Earthlink and AT&T or it could be they have a mail washer program which requires I be listed as approved to receive emails from me. I surely don't know what the problem might be. Meanwhile, have a good weekend and don't work too hard. - Judy PS I had to split this month's journal into two parts because the load time was horrible, due to so many pictures being posted. The link to the other half is near the bottom of this page. Friday - September 21, 2007 10:30 PM I forgot to tell you that Petunia's Tennessee Rose has been reserved and her sister Tiger Lily will be going to her new home tomorrow morning. Friday - September 21, 2007 9:00 AM Today I must find some golden words which will fully explain the word "Hope". It's such a big and powerful word, the loss of which leaves only despair, therefore Hope must be kept alive. The pictures I took were terrible or maybe it was my attitude when I looked at them yesterday. I was down in the kitchen working hard when all of a sudden I turned to Bob and said I'm going to go take my temperature, I'm grouchy. Sure enough it was 100F. It is the result of me taking BC for my headache a few days back, but BCs have less of impact on me than all other pain relievers. Now you know why I didn't make a journal entry or answer emails yesterday, I was grouchy!!! Will continue later, I hear a puppy squealing.... Judy Wednesday - September 19, 2007 10:45 PM Whew!!! It is time I was fast asleep, but ..... The next scheduled puppy feeding is Midnight, Bob decided to fed them early so maybe we both could get a little sleep. Fluffy, Boomer and Dumpy have decided there is "something" out in the woods, so they are barking their fool heads off. It must be big and bad or they would be out there chasing "it". I think the 3 Ditch Puppies that we have been unable to place are mostly Labrador. lol lol We're going to have 3 small "strays that came to stay" and 3 "yard puppies" which are going to be "large". I'm going to call the vet's office tomorrow and ask how young can they be "fixed", I surely don't want any slip ups. This reminds me of the saying; "No kind deed goes unpunished". Makes me want to turn my head the next time I see movement in the ditch, but on the other hand it could be there is a reason for all of this. Bob and I left for a couple of hours this afternoon to visit a friend whom I had promised weeks ago to met so that we could exchange "things". She gave me Iris and I gave her pots and elephant ears, tropical looking plants. The ones I had were 5-6 feet tall and we tried to get them to her "fresh" so maybe she would enjoy them for a few weeks before it turns cold. They will winter-over in the ground here in zone 7B. The Iris have to be planted right away in order to have blooms next Spring. Plants and puppies just do not mix, they both need attention upon demand and it normally comes at the same time. lol lol I have many pictues to share with you and will try to post them in the morning. - Judy Tuesday - September 18, 2007 10:45 PM Petunia's Tennessee Rose had her unbilical hernia repair operation this afternoon, Bob was with the vet in the operating room, she came through with flying colors and first thing she wanted was FOOD. She's had two small helpings and now she said she was ready to do the Bully Butt Wiggle!!!
Now for the best news.... Lily hugged me up tight tonight and said she was ready for a
Mama of her own .. bitter sweet emotions as I sniff, sniff, sniff. She is precious, good little puppy who loves to snuggle.
- JudyTuesday - September 18, 2007 4:40 AM Bob got up to feed the newborn puppies at 3 AM, without waking me up, but when he crawled back into bed at 4 AM I woke up and now can't go back to sleep. This is not good because if I get up to start working on the morning chores I take a big chance of waking up the adult bullies some of whom might want to go out to potty and it's still dark. - Judy Monday - September 17, 2007 7:00 PM I'm being flooded with emails and can't keep up!!!! Some are from people to whom I have already sent a response. There is some kind of glitch in the protocol software between Earthlink.net and BellSouth, now AT&T. It started about the time AT&T took over BellSouth, but it's not all the time so that makes it gosh awful to identify. If you haven't received a response email, send me another email advising me of same along with your telephone number and time to call you. - Judy PS The water problem has been fixed. Monday - September 17, 2007 3:30 PM We got up and kicked into 3rd gear to get the morning chores finished as quickly as possible. I cooked breakfast, we ate upstairs in front of the computers, then poor Bob said he had to have some sleep. I'm working on a list of Iris I want to buy in a "special" sale with really good prices, when I hear gosh awful noise. I concluded it must be the road workers clearing small saplings from the side of the road. Gracious!!! it sounded like is was close to the house and they were cutting down big trees. I jumped up and looked out the window. Down on the ground was a man running some type of machine going across the front of the house about 10 feet out. Then it dawned on me that the machine was a trencher/cable laying system. What in the world was the fool doing laying cable in the front of the house. They were suppose to come out and re-run the cable but not in the front of the house, he should be in the back of the house and he should have called or knocked on the door first to let us know he was there and then discuss the matter with us. I woke Bob up and ask that he go talk to the man. I should have gone but I wasn't properly dressed. Bob reports back that since they didn't know the exact location of the electrical lines and such they decided to make a big sweep around the covered dog runs and up to the barn. I then asked Bob if the man looked like he had all his facilities, what a weird thing to do but .... In no time at all Bob reported that the machine was stuck in the mud .. we run water on the covered dog run in the summer because it gets so hot. We can only conclude that he hadn't taken the trouble to walk the area before plowing ahead on his machine. He calls for assistance and sits waiting in his truck. Meanwhile we are inside shaking our heads. The supervisor arrives tells the man, to do it the way Bob first requested, a piece of cake 20 minutes and they are finished. Then as they are leaving Bob discovers the well has gone out. Panic we HAVE to have water. He's running around checking circuit breakers etc., we decide to place a service call with the well company. Bob runs upstairs to get the phone book, when he returns I call them but there is a knock at the door, the man says he thinks he found the problem with the well. Off Bob goes with him. Bob returns at a fast trot telling me to cancel the service call. When the supervisor pulled around to tow the ditch digger out of the mud, he ran over and broke off the cutoff so water was gushing out and there was no pressure in the lines. Now all three of them are working to fix the problem so we can have water .... plants have wilted, dogs in the runs are getting hot, I forgot and turned on the washing machine, my headache gets a lot worse .... I tell them, "I'm going to go take a BC powder!! Be sure to check out UTube tomorrow, 'cause I've had the camera running". lol lol lol .... This kind of craziness usually happens on Tuesdays not Mondays AND here it is 3:30 PM and we still don't have water, although they made a trip into town for parts and have been working on the water pipe for what seems like forever. Soon I will have to start soaking puppy food or they will really be hungry. Fortunately, I had already soak some this morning to be used for two feedings. This would be a good time to take a shower and cool off .... - Judy Monday - September 17, 2007 8:00 AM Lisa's mostly white male puppy has been reserved for "The Ski's". - Judy Monday - September 17, 2007 6:00 AM We've been up with puppies for a couple of hours. The rising of the sun is getting later, so it isn't light enough outside to walk the grown Bullies and "the strays that came to stay" are fast asleep on the front porch. There is no distant sound of a rooster crowing to let everyone know it's time to start the day so we're going to get some more sleep. It's 54.4°F with 91% humidity. YUCK!!! -Judy Sunday - September 16, 2007 9:15 AM I hope this fine Sunday morning brings you peace and happiness. If you are a praying person please remember your fellow Americans in uniform. - Judy Click Here Judy's Garden 2005!!
