I started this feature for friends and family to answer their
"What's going on?" emails, therefore, I probably tell too much, but you are
welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

Tuesday - 9/30/03 - Noon CDT
Instead of doing the important things like bathing Bullies, cleaning house or cleaning up
the yard, etc., I'm cooking Hot Pepper Jelly & Hot Pepper Relish for Bob. I picked all
the hot peppers off the plants and I'm now ready to attempt to keep them over the winter.
Peppers are actually perennial so if they survive, we'll have a head start on harvesting
peppers in the spring. I've wintered them over for 3 years straight before, but the third
year they didn't seem to produce as well. I'm set to try it again and see if the 3rd year
production holds true.
Happy's babies went back to Dr. Jerry yesterday because one incision was bleeding a
little. The prognosis is not good on the pin-head, smut faced little girl because
part of her outer abdomen is missing but he is hopeful on the other one, who looks like
Magnum. The decision to operate and try to keep them alive was hard. Kim & Chuck did that
only to have their pup die at 6 months. To lose one that old really hurts ... much more than
when they are days old. When they are this young it's impossible to
tell if they have other health issues.
All the other "babies" are doing fine and making us laugh all the time. Count, 7 month old puppy,
has to visit them at least three to four times a day, he's so sweet.
Great Day In The Morning!!! I had the back door open (there isn't a storm or screen door)
and Slim Jim came into the house to lay in front of the lights Bob was using to finish the
trim in the empty front room. Just about gave me "the big one". When we startled each other, the
four foot (that's length - not four feet...)
'thing' slithered into the kitchen and behind the refridgerator. Bob chased him out of his hidy hole
and I trapped him with my little garden rake. Now, I've got 'Slim' in a
RubberMaid container and he is about to be transported out of the area.... This was just too much!!!
Have a great day! We're having a busy one!!! - Judy
Monday - 9/29/03 - 11:00 AM CDT
We've been up and working since 6 AM but this is my first break!! While out with "our
gang" to potty, the tiny seedlings of winter grasses reminded me it's time to plant Kale.
My garden patch is tiny so I'll have to pull up the tomato vines which I hate to do since
they are covered with blooms. Fried green tomatoes sure would taste good in a few weeks,
if the weather will cooperate. Speaking of, the low last night was 43. We usually have a cold snap
lasting about a week and then about 4-6 weeks of really nice weather, BUT the "older
gentlemen" at the co-op were telling me that the mice have been making nests inside
buildings for about three weeks now which normally means we're going to have a severe
winter.
The two hernia puppies are doing well, so the tender care and prayers are working. Speaking of
prayers, please pray for two of my friends LuJean & Mary Jane, they both have a great amount of
turmoil in their lives at present. I wish you a wonderful day!! - Judy
Sunday - 9/28/03 - Noon CDT
Slim Jim Tucker, I hope he's a rat snake, is back again. I took a bowl of chicken & rice
out for the yarddogs and as I entered the house, I turned back to see if they were eating
it, there Slim was slithering not 8 inches from the bowl, almost as if he came when I
called the dogs. Boomer had turned to follow me, but Slim's movement caught his attention
so he started back ... not like he was on a hunt, but just to tell Slim the food was his.
I told Boomer "no" and he made no further attempt to go back. I'm here to tell you that the
yarddogs are hunting dogs, they kill snakes!! I can't believe Fluffy and Boomer are 18
inches from where Slim is, had sniffed the air therefore know he is there and aren't
bothering him. This is the weirdest experience I've ever heard of with a snake. If anyone
knows about a snake who came to stay, like a yarddog, please let me know.
Before you start wondering... I'm not on drugs and have not been drinking!!! LOL LOL
- 9:00 AM CDT
Jeb and I took a lengthy walk, he was into everything at the start but I believe he sensed
my mood and started sticking by my side. I talked to him, as if he could understand,
telling him all about the new babies and the fact they probably wouldn't live. In the
telling, I reminded myself of Peanut and Jeb, when the odds were against them. In my heart
I knew Jeb would walk again and Bob was so sure Peanut would survive.
It's easier to give up hope, than it is to believe .... Judy
Saturday - 9/27/03 - 1:30 PM CDT
Sad News!!! We just got back from Happy having her puppies, 1 died and the two remaining pups
both have hernias that are so bad they are not expected to live. Bob and Dr Frank decided they
deserved the chance, so Dr Frank stitched them up and all we can do now is give them tender loving care
and say a prayer.
Our conclusion is this is a result of a bad combination of genes, which brings into doubt
our being able to use Jazzman as a future stud since he and Magnum are from the same bloodline.
PS I don't have to tell you, I'm bawling like a baby, right!!
Whew!!! We're extremely busy with the new litters, anxiously awaiting another litter and
are in the process of breeding 2 females. My screening process for people to get a pup is
really tough and takes a good portion of my time:
- Some people, have no intention of getting a pup they just want to see if they can get approved.
- Some have more money than heart ...they don't get approved.
- Some people can't stand rejection no matter how gentle I try to be and send me the most "gosh awful"
emails. Evidently they are unaware that being so rude only confirms I made the right decision.
- Some surely are not walking around free, they must be locked up in either a mental
facility or jail. I was not previously aware that inmates of these institutions had
Internet access. lol lol lol
....Then I get an application that makes my heart sing, making it all worthwhile!!!
Peanut was visiting the puppies yesterday, when one managed to climb over the edge of the pool
and tumbled to the floor in front of him.... "scared the fire outta" poor Peanut. I suppose
he thought either he was to blame, would get the blame or that it was after him. lol lol lol
This is Peanut & Cowboy playing outside!!
Have a wonderful day and a nice weekend!!! - Judy
Wednesday - 9/24/03 - 9:00 AM CDT
I'm have to tell you, I ran "Slim Jim Tucker" off too soon, we have mice in the house for
the fist time. Bob says I'm feeding the cats and yarddogs too well!!.
Jeb went looking for another "hunting prize" this morning but
fortunately he didn't find one. The Bullies got thick turkey stew (lots of baked turkey, carrots,
english peas, rice and barley with lots of seasonings but no salt) poured over their soaked
commercial dry dog food this morning. I couldn't help but give some to the cats and yarddogs because they
smelled it and came begging. See why they don't catch mice!!! I'm off to get
mouse poison ... an hour round trip. lol lol lol
Give some Smiles, so you'll get some back!!! - Judy
Tuesday - 9/23/03 - 9:00 PM CDT
I still have 47 messages in my mailbox, but I can no longer sit at the computer to answer them,
I'm too tired. Hope you have a Good Night's Sleep!!!
- 1:00 PM CDT
Ooops!!! I posted the wrong puppy picture, the one below is Ham Bizkit, not Honey Bizkit,
the pick of the litter, stud fee puppy. Here is her picture
Happy ate a
big breakfast this morning so she's not going into labor today. I'm really busy trying to
catch up with the chores I couldn't do yesterday because I had to go shopping. I've posted
pictures of Bizkit & Bama's Litter As Available on the front page of the website. I hope
Floyd is successful in selling them right away. It's hard to have a litter of puppies and
work full-time. I'm going to try to review applications, send emails and post pictures of
Smart Cookie & Charlotte's babies later today. I have 108 emails waiting in
my mailbox, plus a giant pile of dog beds to be washed and hung out to dry!!!
While Jeb was "out" this morning, Boomer came running to me, jumping in the air to get my
attention, then ran back to where Jeb was eating something. I called to Bob who was near
and moments later, Jeb came scampering in the back door trying to escape Bob, who was
trying to take away a giant dead rat, evidently this morning's hunting prize! UCK!! Nasty!! Gross!!
Speaking of critters, if the snake becomes a permanent member of "our gang" we're going to
name him "Slim Jim Turner".
All these critters sure do make us laugh. Hope you have a day full of laughter!!! - Judy
Monday - 9/22/03 - 9:00 PM CDT
Just got back from a long shopping trip trying to find among other things, salt free
dog food, I read the label of every dog food PetSmart had in stock. I didn't have any luck at all, so I'll check at the Vet's Office tomorrow to
see if Science Diet makes this product, surely they do. Although the "mamas" and bred
females LOVE the homemade food, it sure is a lot of work!!
Good Night, Judy
-9:00 AM CDT
What a day we ended up having yesterday!!! The round trip to Memphis Tennessee which
should have only taken 3 hours, ended up taking 6 hours, because it rained and we had
trouble with the van overheating.
The puppies King Bizkit sired are beautiful, especially this little girl who is the "stud
fee puppy", meaning she is the "pick of the litter" we got for Bizkit's services. I have to
hurry up and reserve her for someone or I'll become too attached ... she slept with us last night!!!
Hopefully we will have loads of puppy pictures posted tomorrow and will begin taking deposits to
reserve them until they are ready to go to their new homes.
I have so much work to do today that it would take 5 sane people, but I suppose this one "crazy"
woman will have to kick it up to "3rd Gear Over-Drive" and get it done. Have a Great Day!!! - Judy
Sunday - 9/21/03 - 8:30 AM CDT
Good Morning!!!!!
Cowboy got us up at 5:30, he had to "GO". After he had been outside he had to check on
the puppies. Notice how tentative he is? It is as if he is afraid he will hurt them, so he's being
very careful. What a 'Good Boy"!!!! On the other hand, Jazzman was just plain nosey!!!
Have a Good Sunday!!! Puppies are calling ... Judy
Saturday - 9/20/03 - 11:00 AM CDT
Smart Cookie & Charlotte "babies" are a lot of work but make us smile with delight!!!
They are just now getting to the stage where they can walk good and are starting to play;
always doing something so dang cute it makes us call out to each other to "come see". All
but one, Hermit Cookie, love the mushy food given to them 3-4 times a
day and often lay down in the pie pan while eating. Hermit Cookie has to eat out of my
hand and prefers the nursing sessions afterward.
- Bob has gone to purchase more wood for trim in the two front rooms of the house.
The part he has completed is beautiful.
- One of us has to make an hour round trip to Corinth, Mississippi to do some shopping.
- Sunday I'm going to take pictures, update the web pages, send out emails, etc. so that
Monday we can start taking deposits to reserve Smart Cookie & Charlotte's puppies.
- Sunday one of us is going to Memphis to pick up the Stud Fee puppy and take pictures
- Monday Miss B's Puppies are to have their dew claws removed
- Tuesday is the first possible day for Happy to go into labor.
Just like taking the older brothers and sisters to look at the baby in the hospital, we lead
each of the 7 month old puppies up to the whelping pool so they could see what had been making all
the noise.
Count very gently lowered his head into the pool and let them smell his face. He would
have stayed
frozen in that position for hours if he had been allowed. Peanut was very gentle but seemed intent on sniffing the air, in hopes of being able to tell which ones
were "little brothers". Jazzman was much too interested in getting outside so he could potty. Sugar Cookie looked, sniffed them a little then decided to be on her way. Cowboy would look at the "babies" then look up at me like he was wanting an explanation. Jeb, a year old now, hung his head deep in the pool and kissed the "babies" over and over again.
Jeb has a future treat in store, he has a little brother who could very well look like his twin.
Hope you are having a good weekend. - Judy
Friday - 9/19/03 - 6:30 AM CDT
So I'm either being realistic or I've fallen off the edge. I decided if the snake has
truly been accepted by the cats and yarddogs, then it could be beneficial to have him as
one of "our gang". The gopher or whatever it was, is no longer eating my plants so it could
be that Mr. Snake had it for a meal. Further rationalization dictates, I'll just have to
get use to seeing him so I won't be startled ... surely I'm not saying this!!!!
Jeb's reaction would be puzzlement, Peanut would look at Bob as if to ask if it was OK and
Sugar Cookie will want to play too rough!! LOL LOL Time for me to quit thinking and go to work!
Have a Great Weekend! - Judy
King Bizkit & Bama Have Four Puppies!
NKC, Born 8/13/03, 2 males & 2 females, $1200 each
Pictures will be posted within the next few days.
This litter belongs to Floyd Baker, Bizkit was the Rent-A-Stud!!
- 5:00 AM CDT
Late yesterday afternoon, I let Smart Cookie out the back door to potty. She first smelled
of the Tom cat laying just out from under the van, parked in the driveway about 6 feet from
the back porch, then
she took care of her "business". Afraid she might go under the porch, I walked out and
dropped a British Training lead over her head so she would know I was in control... I was
for maybe a minute, until I stepped over the snake's tail laying out from under the shade
of the van not a foot away from the stupid sleeping cat, talk about giving the ole heart a jolt.
I rushed in to get Bob to come kill it and I should have known better. He grabbed my cane
and I told him "NO" here's a hoe. We returned to find both the snake and cat asleep and not
five feet away the three yard dogs were scattered out taking their afternoon naps.
What did Bob do, looked at the snake and pronounced it a harmless Rat Snake (he also once
said a copperhead was harmless!!!) and was trying to move him back to the woods when the snake slipped
the hoe and slithered swiftly into my tiny garden patch.
Bob and I then had a "conversation" about said snake being harmless, to which I replied, do you count scaring me
to death harmless!!!!
I'm willing to take in another dog but not a stray snake ... asleep in the yard with the other "strays
that came to stay", just like it belonged here!!
Have a GREAT Day, Judy
Wednesday - 9/17/03 - 10:30 AM CDT
Whew!!!! I started feeding Smart Cookie & Charlotte's "babies" mushy food last night.
I drove all over the world trying to find "live culture" non-fat free yogurt and it
turned out most of the yogurt being sold is "live culture" but the only way you know
it is a very small trademark sign on the side of the carton. So Dannon super size,
plain yogurt is what I got. All the other brands that were available were "fat free".
I got 5 large containers and now I realize one would have been enough to last a week.
I soaked Purina Puppy Chow, mashed it up with my fingers and added a heaping spoon
of the yogurt. I've tried adding many things to the soaked Puppy Chow over the years,
but none have been as successful at getting the pups to eat. I put them in with one of the
mothers to nurse, switch them 2-3 at a time to the mushy food and then return them for a
warm-up drink of milk from the mother.
Smart Cookie normally weighs about 30 lbs, short little body in length & height and I
believe these puppies are going to be just her size, but of course you never can tell, look
at Peanut!!
I am going to try to turn on the PuppyCam today or it may have to wait until tomorrow, so
everyone can see the puppies moving around, eating, nursing, but mainly they will just be
sleeping.
All the latest litters had a waterbaby, this is not normal for our bloodlines. In the
past I would guess that we have had one water baby out of five litters. We have not
changed what we are feeding but Purina changed the formula of Puppy Chow a few months back
and I believe it now contains more salt. Assuming that is the case, I've decided to make
our own food for the three pregnant or just bred females at least until I can make a trip to
either Memphis, Tennessee or Tupelo, Mississippi for a commercial "salt-free" dog
food to which I will add meat, etc. This morning's menu was a big pot of chicken thighs and
legs seasoned with rosemary, fresh garlic and basil. When the meat was done I removed it and added barley, instant potato buds, low salt
english peas to cook, plus eggs which I stirred in just before taking turning the heat off.
In addition, they will get a "mother milk shake" consisting of milk, eggs,
clear syrup and a tiny pinch of salt. All nursing, pregnant & bred females are given maternity vitamins.
The above picture is of Miss B and her babies!! Have a GREAT Day!!! - Judy
Tuesday - 9/16/03 - 7:30 PM CDT
I've been so busy today!!! I've just now sit down for a minute and wouldn't you know
it the puppies are calling..... Later, Judy
Monday - 9/15/03 - 10:00 AM CDT
Here are the pictures of Jeb and his taxi that I promised I would take.
Isn't he adorable!!! It's so much fun to watch him play, he's just like a cute little kid!!!
We've been up for hours taking care of "our gang" and the "babies". I'm in a fantastic
frame of mind and full of energy this morning ... because Bob encouraged me to get
some sleep. I took an 11 hour nap!!!
Today is Bob's turn to sleep,
but I think his adrenaline might be kicking in!!! He is a creative genius and has an
idea that he must at least get down on paper before he can settle down to sleep.
The "babies" are doing fine, but they have claimed so much of our attention that "our gang"
is feeling neglected. I have to spend at least 4 hours today, loving on them, taking them
for long walks, etc. The time will have to be carved out between letting the just born babies
nurse every two hours
(usually takes 30 minutes or so)
and the older pups nurse every 3-4 hours
(normally for an hour). Remember you can't allow Bully pups to stay with their mothers
without supervision, because the mother might mash them.
I wish for you a positive attitude
so you can meet life's obstacles head on and win. - Judy
Sunday - 9/14/03 10:00 AM CDT
Miss B went into labor in the middle of the night and had 3 healthy, beautiful "babies", two
females and one male!! Gina just called to tell us Miss Ellie had 2 puppies, male and female,
at 2:30 AM!!! The first week is critical in the life of a puppy, so we're holding our breath.
It's like a three-ring circus here but the ringmasters (Bob & I) are just too tired to
control the show ... the clowns (Bullies) are scampering everywhere, acting silly!!!
I have to take pictures today, mainly of Jeb and his truck so you can see how special
he is!!!
Have a wonderful day!!! - Judy
Saturday - 9/13/03 - Noon CDT
Below is a picture of Peanut, he is so sweet!!!
Miss B still isn't ready to go into labor. I bet she'll be ready tomorrow, Sunday,
then we'll have to disturb one of the Vet's at home and be charged more because it will be
classified as an Emergency. I don't mind paying more, but I surely hate to interrupt them
on their day off. We're just thankful they are willing to accommodate us, there are many vets
who would NOT.
My friend Gina called and I confirmed what she thought, Miss Ellie is going
into labor in the middle of the night, tonight, so Gina was going to take her to the Vet's this
afternoon for him to check to see if she has dilated a good bit and if so go ahead with
the c-section.
Bob is working on the Big Boo Fund Raiser Website that Bill Nale won with his bid of $255
and I'm a cooking fool. I have the kiddy pool of puppies in the kitchen with me because
they have to be watched all the time, so what else is there to do but COOK!! I don't know
that I have ever fed leftover cake to the Bullies because I usually don't cook cakes, but
I'm on a cake cooking binge right now. I've cooked two
already this morning, a strudel with cherry filling and a buttery pound cake to be topped
with whipped cream and strawberry pie filling. LOL LOL LOL Poor Bob is going to
gain weigh because I won't eat more than a bite or two.
Have a GREAT weekend .... a Mexican lasagna sounds good, I'm off to the kitchen, Judy
Friday - 9/12/03 - 7:00 AM CDT
I've been awake reading since 4:30 when Bob crawled back into bed from having put the puppies
on the mothers to nurse. Last night I lost it, I was unable to contain my grief any
longer. I lashed out at Bob over nothing, then started crying, my heart was aching over poor
little Goober. I try desperately to contain my emotions but sometimes I just can't...
My backward approach to grieving took root in my childhood, I had to be strong. - Judy
Thursday - 9/11/03 - 2:45 PM
Smart Cookie's tiny male, passed away.
- 1:00 PM CDT
- Miss B, who is just one big glob (babies), ate a hearty breakfast this morning also so
we won't be going to the Vet's for a c-section today. We were up and down all night with
the puppies and checking on her, so we're both exhausted. Big Bob, Bless His
Heart, let me sleep a few hours late this morning.
- Big Boo Update From Tina: "Boo got his staples out yesterday, and the seroma looks
very good.....best of all, the vet said the leg is still in!" Tina works for a
school system and it's hectic this time of the year. She does not have computer access
at home.
- Smart Cookie's Goober is fading fast, but our hearts won't allow us to have him "put down"
although going through this is extremely stressful!!!!!
- Our extended family problems have escalated to the point where we are now forced to take action which
we tried desperately to avoid.
BUT we are going to "Keep On The Sunny Side Of Life". Bob and I are resolved to be Happy People
... some days it just takes a lot of work. - Judy
O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack Lyrics
Artist: The Whites
Song: Keep on the Sunny Side
There's a dark & a troubled side of life
There's a bright, there's a sunny side, too
Tho' we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view
[cho:] Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us ev'ry day, it will brighten all the way
If we'll keep on the sunny side of life
The storm and its fury broke today,
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear;
Clouds and storms will, in time, pass away
The sun again will shine bright and clear.
Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Tho' the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our Saviour away
Who keepeth everyone in His care
Wednesday - 9/10/03 - 2:00 PM CDT
Whew!!! Life does get interesting at times, doesn't it!!!!
- Miss B ate a hearty breakfast this morning so we won't be going to the Vet's for a
c-section today.
- Smart Cookie only wants to stay with her "babies" for about 10 minutes then she gets
up and goes back into her crate, lays down and doesn't want to come back out.
Pictures of Smart Cookie's Litter
- Charlotte on the other hand wants to stay with them all the time, so when we have to
work outside or take care of the other Bullies, she throws a "hissy fit" to be with the
babies.
- Charlotte's Precious is just that. Oh, how I wish I could keep her but we are just unable
to accommodate another ANYTHING!!!
- Bob's monitor is burning out so he'll have to install a new one before I can upload anything,
the modem is connected to his computer and I am linked to it.
- Rain is predicted for tomorrow so Bob has to get the stained and finished trim boards off the porches,
either by moving them into the unfinished two front rooms of the house or go ahead and finish the
task. I'm voting for finishing versus loosing time moving it around and possibly doing damage to the
hardwood floors, but I bet Miss B has the final word. LOL LOL
- Corky went home last night and as of this morning is doing well. Mary Ellen said to tell everyone
how grateful she is for the emotional support and prayers.

Just wanted to check in with you! I e-mailed Mary Ellen to let her know
that I'm thinking about her.
Charlie's very much loved and respected step-father passed away Friday night.
We had the funeral yesterday. Everyone seems to be doing really well.
Thank You Everyone, for your prayers. I know that they have helped
us through this emotional time.Keep praying for the family....Charlie's Mom
has a long road ahead of her.
Thanks again for keeping us in mind...it really does mean a lot! - Carol Lynn

I just received a call from the doctor and she said Corky is doing exceptionally well and
can come home. Every time a dog comes into the clinic she starts barking and going crazy. She will
be on medication for the next two weeks, a steroid in pill form. Now, here
is the big question ..How do I keep her from getting excited and calm that will be a job
in itself. I can pick her up tonight at 6:00 pm. I can't believe we went through almost
having to make a fatal decision to a bouncy puppy coming home. - Mary Ellen
Note By Judy - I recommended she ask the Vet for tranquilizers to keep Corky calm.

Good Morning Judy & Bob
I just got off the phone with the vet and it sounds so positive today. Corky has done a
complete 360 turn around, since she has been placed on steroids. The Doctor told me,
during the night she ate twice and has been holding the food down. She urinated in her
crate a few times and they were laughing because she barked to let them know she did it.
Today the doctor may try to start weaning her off the oxygen.
Thank You Everyone! Prayers and thoughts are working ....Please keep them coming

It doesn't look good for Corky...The doctor is running a renal scope up her to see the damage to her trachea and if it is resolvable
she is so sedated having coughing/vomiting fits..I went to see her last night and I didn't want to leave her..she is my favorite...
Just waiting to hear from the doctor...I can't stop crying for my baby corky, she probably doesn't know why or what is going with her..
I'm to upset with this..Send more prayers for her..

Last week the temperature started dropping. We've had 80's during the day and it's been as low as 53
at night. This is my kind of weather, but Winter is just around the corner so I'm starting to make
plans for all these 100's of house plants. What a "Lucy Thing" I did, but I have so enjoyed them.
LOL LOL LOL
Miss B's 60th pregnancy day is Wednesday. We'll be watching her like a hawk and staying near to home
afterward. She's really big, so I'm guessing is she will have 6-8 babies.
All the new puppies are doing well, except for the tiny male... we have another Peanut. We're just praying
that he will survive. The problem appears to be his digestive system, so he is being fed small amounts of
milk many times a day, hopeful that he will outgrown the problem. "Gonna hav'ta call him Goober"!!!
Have a Good Day!!!

URGENT Prayer Request - Corky, our friend Mary Ellen's Bully, had to be taken to the emergency
Vet Clinic early this morning, she has developed severe respiratory complications from Cherry Eye surgery.
This is the 3rd Cherry Eye operation by their regular vet, who admitted that the wrong sutures
had been used in the prior operations.
Friday - 9/05/03 - 2:00 PM CDT
Big Boo Update - he is doing well but has swelling around his knee. Here is what Tina said,
"His leg....the surgeon said that the fluid buildup (a seroma) around his knee is water
and protein, to put cold compresses on it...has helped a little. I will take him to Akron,
1.5 hours away, on September 14 to have the staples out, unless I have to take him in
before because of the seroma."

Two families, who have our Bullies, are going through extreme emotional situations,
watching a loved one lose their battle with cancer. Please keep the Rose Family of North Carolina and the Lowe Family
of Collierville, Tennessee in your prayers. - Thank You, Judy

We got into a conversation about the Tennessee Lottery which is suppose to be in place
soon. I was asked what I would do with the money if I won THE big jackpot. My response
was, contract with a dog groomer for weekly visits!!! Everyone thought it was a joke ....
When I get distressed (Smart Cookie's little male isn't doing well), I COOK!!!! Yesterday I cooked four racks of ribs, ten chicken thighs, stuffed
chiles plus a pot of chicken for Chicken & Dressing and to feed the nursing mothers. Bob shook his
head and said "it was a good thing we have so many critters to feed... I'm only one person"!!!
(I usually don't eat meat)
Isn't this a funny picture of Jeb!! Actually, he had just played so hard that he was tired,
but doesn't he look like an old drunk.
Have a great weekend!!!!!
Thursday - 9/04/03 - Noon CDT
I told "our gang" to go potty, no time for goofing off this morning, we have lots to do,
we will play later in the day!!! Moments later, I saw Jeb and Count hiding under Bob's
work table on the back porch, hopeful I would forget they were outside. They hadn't even
gone out into the yard!!! I got a 'fly swatter', tapped the leg of the table and out they
came, scurrying out into the yard to take care of their business.

Please say a prayer for the youngest daughter of Brenda Duncan (Brenda owns our Miss Blossom)
her boxer puppy died on the operating table this morning. The daughter, a real PuppyGal,
is pregnant with her first child and this is a tremendous emotional strain.

We're extremely busy this morning investigating the process and cost of self-publishing Peanuts Adventures. If anyone
reading this has information, I would appreciate you sending me an email.
Here are three pictures I thought you would enjoy.

Slow Dancing To The Music - Bob and I turned the radio on and danced to the oldie "A Whiter
Shade Of Pale", slow dips and turns so close we seemed to be just one!!! Everyone should
feel as wonderful as we do tonight....
I can project out to a time when we are no longer able
to dance, when just the touch of our hands will recall this deep satisfying feeling.

Happy is pregnant!!!!! We took both Happy & Gabby in for an ultrasound - Dr Frank found Happy had 3 puppies
but Gabby didn't have any.
We also took the new born puppies in to have their dew claws removed and Count to have his
heart checked to see if he still had a murmur. An EKG when he was 10 weeks old was
interpreted to mean that he would out grow the condition by the time he was 6 months old, which he
was as of yesterday. Dr Frank said to wait a couple of more months and if he can still
hear it, we will need to have another EKG for comparison. Other than the fact that he
gets tired a tad quicker than the other pups, he's just fine.

I was working outside early this morning and had Peanut with me. All of a sudden, there was a
rustling among my large pots of ferns and up pops Peanut carrying the metal spike sprinkler head.
(I use it to water my flower beds.) I took his 'toy' away from him and then he started acting really goofy.
I stepped into the house to call Bob to see his 'Mr. Goofy'!
When we returned we saw Peanut pulling my 'Just my size' shovel by the handle down the drive toward the house.
At first we thought that he was trying to tell me that I'd forgotten it.
But, NOOO, he was bringing his "new found" toy into the house where it was cool!!

Big Boo - Tina called last night to let us know Boo is doing well. As you can imagine the stress has
been tremendous. She broke down and cried when telling me how grateful she is to everyone
who made getting Big Boo's operation possible. She's a proud, independent lady who has
never before been without the resources to do what was necessary in her life ... but for
Big Boo she swallowed her pride and accepted our help.
Including the $510 in donations made via the Custom Website Auction, the total money raised so far
is $1123. A Very Big Thank You to everyone who has made a donation!!!
Jeb and The Bullfrog
A Bullfrog has taken up residency in or around the Goldfish Pond.
His 24x7 croaking sounds like a string being held, then plucked on a guitar, and it's loud!!
When I let Jeb out to potty this morning he heard this unusual sound and ran to investigate.
I swear he can move fast when he deems "it is necessary". LOL
After several minutes of
scampering around looking, the "strays" took pity on him and showed him the frog by
running to it and barking. It was in the grass about 2 feet out from the pond, not moving
regardless of how much noise they made. I have never touched a big frog or even been that close to
one, but some frogs can
be poisonous to dogs, so I was determined to get it away from Jeb, the strays had more
sense than to actually touch it. I tried to hold Jeb back with one hand and pick up the
frog with the other, but I couldn't. Finally, I gave Jeb a little push and grabbed the
frog with both hand (nasty, nasty, ugly, ugly!!!) That dang frog was so big it was all I
could do to hold him with two hands (I have tiny hands - size 4 wedding ring), but I got
it to the pond and tossed it in .... you've already guess I'm sure, that my next struggle
was to keep Jeb from going into the pond after it!!!
There is never a dull moment around here!!! Have a Wonderful Day!! - Judy
"We have one mission in life, and that mission is to love" -
Mother Theresa
Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and
other creature for the last 50 years, we will have to assume she was five years old
before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing
and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She
had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight
yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone contend that the dogs would protect
her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed
behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life
changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and
became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were
robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the
country and her first love dogs… smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
