I started this feature for friends and family to answer their "What's going on?" emails, therefore, I probably tell too much, but you are welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

I had to share this comment on my statement of (When you are tempted to lash out at a person who has been unkind to you, remember two wrongs don't make a right.) Dorothy made me laugh out loud when she wrote....

HAH! HAH! Not only that, it makes THEM feel guilty and awful, thereby saving you the trouble of torturing them yourself! Just think of it as a self-cleaning oven for the soul. Hang in there and keep your tail waggin'!

The newly born pups are full sisters and brothers to Bessie Smith

I finally got around to checking the gender of Miss B & Jazzman's puppies, 3 females and 2 males. We had one crazy night with maybe 2 hours of sleep!!! The newly born puppies need to nurse every 2 hours. However Lisa Marie wants to care for them, so when Bob goes to get Miss B, Lisa gets beside herself and the only thing that will calm her is for the other puppies to be put with her. Since one person can't handle two sets of puppies, it takes us both.

Now for the problem, I have to have 8 hours of sleep or I turn into an ugly acting person. An insufficient amount of sleep last night is bound to catch up with me by nightfall, but right now I'm wired. Bob just laid down to take a nap, I'll stay up, do a few chores and take care of the puppies, then hopefully I'll be able to take a nap this afternoon, so we can do it again tonight.

After about 4 days of this, we both get grouchy and start being extremely short with each other, then remind ourselves why we're snapping ... About two weeks ago, I announced I hated the aftershave he was wearing, so Bob decided I should pour it down the drain, cause it might make me feel better. We started giggling, calling the aftershave "puppy poo" and then snuggled in for a long nap. We love our "babies" but we are only human.- Judy

Last night Bob was restless, plus he kept getting up to check on a pregnant female Bully. He would come back to bed I would snuggle in, drop off to sleep and he would start jumping in his sleep. As a result, I didn't get any sleep. Finally at 4 AM, I asked him to sleep downstairs when he finished taking care of the puppies.

Princess Beth Of Dogwood Pond At 8 AM, he woke me up saying it's time to take Miss B for a c-section. Now please understand, it is at this point that the man always gets hyper and drives me up a wall. Since I felt like a female dog after not having any sleep, I told him, "STOP!! Now we're going to take this nice and slow so we don't forget anything and or I get upset." We then proceeded in an orderly fashion to take care of business.

I called the vet's office to let them know we were headed their way just as soon as we could load up the van and to expect to see us in about an hour. Once there the wait wasn't long but we told them to take their time doing what they needed since she was not having contractions. If it had been an emergency they would have rushed her right in to the operating room.

Jazzman Before leaving the city, we stop at Wal-Mart for Puppy Chow and donuts. We just got home with 5 of the cutest puppies, already crying and ready to nurse. Don't ask the gender, I haven't gotten that far. We'll be holding our breath because the first week is critical. They will be ready to go to their new homes by Christmas. Other breeders would love that but I don't like for mine to be "Christmas Presents", for I'm always afraid the dedication to the pup won't be there.

I'm off to take care of the new "babies" - Judy

I don't mind telling you that I have been so absolutely exhausted that I was thinking I might have cancer again. I just couldn't figure out where, unless it was my lungs.

If I had allowed the doctor to start running tests, pretty soon we would be bankrupt because I don't have insurance. It's too expensive, the premium would have in the long run caused financial ruin anyway. So .... about that time I also made up my mind I was not going through another operation like the last one (removed the lower lobe of my left lung), because 'it' like to have killed me since I couldn't take anything for pain. The doctor was very proud that I could do it. I never even asked for a pain shot while in the hospital because I knew if I had an allergic reaction and started to upchuck it would have ripped out the stitches. (I have a hard time taking any kind of medicine but pain meds are the absolute worst.)

I just kept telling the doctor and Bob, I thought my exhaustion was STRESS. I'll not go into it but for several years there had just been too much stress in our lives brought on by other people, mainly relatives who were hard to turn away from. During this time I realized I had to stay away from highly charged emotional situations and people because emotions are a roadblock to intelligent thoughts and decisions, plus "being emotional" is contagious. It was necessary that I kept my emotions in check so my actions would be rational in regard to my physical problems.

A few months ago, there was resolution to many of the stress situations but mentally and physically I felt the same. Yesterday I realized things had changed. I am assuming you know the Godfather of Soul, James Brown and have at least seen clips of his performances, if not please stop reading now and search him out on the Internet. Now, just imagine ME singing the below and doing his kind of dance across the kitchen floor at times with one leg raised up, just scooting it across the floor on the other foot (one legged dance scooting). Remember I'm almost 60!!!

I FEEL GOOD
James Brown

Whoa-oa-oa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you
Whoa! I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

{ sax, two licks to bridge }

Yesterday morning when I flipped the volume to high on the radio and started singing & dancing along to the song, the Bullies ran for their crates. After a moment one tentatively came out, butt wiggling wanting to join me, a couple ignored me totally and the others just stared. All were thankful when Bob entered the room, you could almost hear their sigh of relief. When he joined in the dancing they knew everything was alright and I hadn't really lost my mind, cause Daddy's doing it too. (He's almost 70) All but Bessie Smith & Dixie Pie came to join the fun, they're still a little young and all the commotion was a little much!!

I'm back to my crazy, hyper, dancing, singing self and feel so fortunate!! BUT I don't mind admitting, I am holding my breath hopeful that it will last.

Maybe the Good Lord was answering prayers. Maybe he's just not finished with me ... perhaps there is a miracle he wants to use me to do ....

Now let's teach them Bullies how to sing!!! (actually don't, it will annoy your neighbors). - Judy

This is a cute Bully Blog and although Cyrus's favorite Bully Website is other than mine, I thought we would give him some 'air time', so please visit www.bullcyrus.blogspot.com You'll have to copy and past the URL data. I kept trying to create a link but, I couldn't get one to work this morning.

People fall into three categories:
1 Those who love life and people.
2 Those who are not sure about what they love
3 Those who hate themselves and life in general

Which are you? Which category do you think are the happiest?

Interesting isn't it!! It only takes 6 weeks to break or create a habit, so if you are unhappy, resolve to put a smile on your face and embrace the world with happiness, it will be returned to you.

Have a wonderful weekend.- Judy

The last thing I did before going to bed for the night was to make tea in the automatic coffee maker. Afraid Bob would toss the leftover coffee, I made a point of telling him I had just put tea on to brew. Awake late into the night because I was so exhausted I couldn't drift off to sleep, I headed for the coffee pot first thing this morning. I noticed there was no container of tea and proceeded to ask Bob what happened to the tea. Being up in the middle of the night with the puppies he decided to have a cup of leftover COFFEE, he said he took a big gulp and it was gosh awful, so he poured it out. It wasn't until he started to fix a pot of coffee this morning that he found the tea bags.... I imagine a mixture of black & green tea although hot must have been a shock to taste buds that were expecting coffee ....

Plants Inside Winter 2003 We're in the process of doing 'Spring House Cleaning'. Bringing plants inside, closing down the windows, and turning off fans and air conditioners resulted in trapping inside the house all the dirt tracked in from outside, the bird dust, down, feathers and scattered seed, the dog dander, hair and stray pieces of dry food, all of which caused me to have a terrific allergic reaction. I told Bob there was no way I could endure being closed up for the winter with birds, plants and dogs. Everything has to go, I needed a place to live!!!

I'm just one of those people who "over does" everything in life... I do suppose that's better than being a person who doesn't do period, but moderation would be nice.

Porches Winter 2004 We decided to move the birds to the covered outside dog runs where we have stored many of the Brugmansia for the winter. We've planned to enclose the porches again for the plants. This picture is from last year. I just hope Ernie, the latest stray that came to stay, will not tear up the plastic sheeting.

Whew!!! Off to work we go...- Judy

Fatima, Daughter of Brooks & Elvis DOB 10/02/00 I have received email accusing me of giving preferential treatment to Fatima .... This I can't deny!!! lol lol

We have absolutely worked ourselves too hard trying to winter-over all my plants. I'm not willing to stress us out further for them, so those that are still outside will just have to go to the compost pile. Bob and I both have pulled muscles and aching backs!!!

I hear 'our gang' calling, so I've got to jump and run to let them out. - Judy

Subject: Mississippi State Tailgate Party

Fatima was invited to go tailgating at MS State this past weekend. She attracted tons of attention and was very well behaved around all the children who ran over to visit with her.(Note By Judy - Fatima has never been around children)

Fatima, Daughter of Brooks & Elvis DOB 10/02/00 The only run in we had was with a 5 month old female bulldog...who was HUGE by the way...who growled at Timmy when she and her owner first walked up. Well, that was all Timmy had to know. She growled and fussed at that puppy for the whole 10 minutes they stood there. The puppy decided she wanted to play but Timmy would have none of it. You growled at me for no reason and that's the end of the story. We won't be friends. Fatima, Daughter of Brooks & Elvis DOB 10/02/00 That's the first bulldog I've ever seen that she didn't want to love on and play with.

As you can see I was able to take Timmy's harness and leash off of her about 10 minutes after we got there and she was so good. We were there from about 9:30 AM til 8 PM. She didn't try to wander off at all. She stayed right in our tailgating area, walked around and spoke to all the people in our area and was a delight.

Also sending a pic of Timmy and her favorite playmate/sister, one of my other dogs, Chip

Made a run into the 'big little city', Corinth, MS where we ate all sorts of things we should not have: cinnamon rolls & éclairs to start then at the butcher shop they had just finished cooking 'deep fried pig skins' which I was unable to resist buying. We washed down with Red Dog Beer. How pitiful that is after having been on a veggie & fruit diet for 7 days.... did I take a nose dive or WHAT!!! lol lol I may have to take a nap to keep in all down!! What a combination!!

Wednesday - 10/26/05 9:00 AM
Squeaked by the freezing temperatures and frost that were predicted for last night. I've just heard on the radio that there is another frost warning for tonight starting at midnight, so I best get some more of the plants under wraps this afternoon after it warms up a bit.

There are four porches and a yard full of temperature sensitive plants. This is only one of the porches. My problem every year is that we flip from being 80-90F during the day and 50F at night down to freezing. If I cover everything in plastic the plants will get too hot which is almost as bad as being too cold and will surely wear me out monitoring and watering them. Also, I bet there are still warm days to come.

South Side Porch

Wednesday - 10/26/05 7:00 AM
Gracious it's 33 degrees outside!! I have high hopes that the plants on the porches did not freeze during the night. I just got so tired I couldn't move another one and poor Bob was so exhausted, I couldn't ask him to do it for me. I certainly needed to cut down on the number I winter-over, but didn't want it done this way.

More later, Lisa Marie is demanding to be put with the puppies, although it isn't time. She's been high demand all night and the only thing we can figure is that it's the drop in temperature causing her to want to make sure they're warm. - Judy

Up with puppies, just to make you smile, here are pictures of all 6 puppies, in the pool nursing with Lisa Marie. The larger puppies are Sugar's and have been reserved. The others have not been reserved, nor have I posted individual pictures so that people can reserve them. I plan on doing that in a few days.

Well don't you know the flapjack has landed (weather flipping), we woke up at 5:30 AM to 36F this morning and some of my plants look a little frost bitten, OH WELL!!! We don't have enough time and energy for everything we want to do.

It had gotten a little chilly downstairs so I immediately warmed up fresh Snuggle Safe discs in the microwave for the puppies, to keep them warm until we could get "our gang" in and out to potty so it would be safe to put them with the mother Bully to nurse. 3 mothers have a total of 6 puppies so yesterday we combined them into one litter and put them on one mother which will really cut down on the amount of time spent taking care of puppies. They are old enough now to "get and grow" regardless of mother. Lisa Marie, daughter of Elvis and our spoiled brat Kate, wanted to be the mother to all of them so we let her. She's absolutely loving every minute of it and the puppies are thriving.

Take care.... remember smiling makes you look younger than you would otherwise!! - Judy

My 'Charlie Neck' is gone, thanks to the BC Powders I took a couple of times during the night when I woke up hurting. This morning I'm a new woman, oh don't I wish, but at least one who isn't in so much pain.

Saturday - 10/22/05 9:50 AM
Dog Gone!! Have you ever had what felt like a "Charlie horse" on one side of your neck?? Well that's what made me jump me out of bed at 3:30 AM. For those of you who have not experience this, it hurts like the devil is poking you with his pitchfork. Not being able to take meds and not having any wine in the house I got a jigger of Bob's sipping whiskey. Son-of-a-gun, I forgot to put water in it before I gulped it down and it burned/hurt worse than the "Charlie neck" ... nor did it relieve the pain. After the muscle spasm stopped I realized I had pulled a neck muscle in my sleep. All I can figure is it must have been one HECK of a dream. It's still painful this morning, but I am determined to keep on working I have too much to do!!

Yesterday was a GOOD work day, we got a great deal accomplished and it really lifted my spirits.

Hope you all have a good weekend!! - Judy

Whew!! Worked like a dog all day long and was proud I felt like doing it. The weather is going from summer to winter here just as easily as flipping a flapjack (pancake). The abrupt change is bound to make people sick. I've got to get some sleep. More tomorrow. - Judy

PepperJack, In His prime, Passed Away June 2005, 11 yrs old Being the only one awake, I don't dare make any noise for if I do 'our gang' will want to go out to potty. I'm up because I overworked my shoulder yesterday and I couldn't get it in a comfortable position to continue to stay in bed. Poor Bob will need to be the one to take the crew out, but right now he desperately needs some sleep.
(Pictures are of PepperJack, but he was so much more impressive in person)

Since the winning lottery ticket was sold in Oregon, the daydream of daily massages and total pampering for all of us (including our gang), is not going to become a reality any time soon. lol lol

PepperJack, In His prime, Passed Away June 2005, 11 yrs old Gooey Cookie has not been reserved because I'm way behind in answering emails. I have 111 to be answered as of this morning, several of which are applications. My only excuse is that I have been pushing myself mentally and physically to get chores completed and then I'm too exhausted to make decisions and answering questions.

PepperJack, In His prime, Passed Away June 2005, 11 yrs old Please be extremely careful about exposing your Bully to the Dog Flu, it is spreading rapidly and since it is a respiratory disease it is very hard on a Bulldog. One of Sweetie Pie's offspring caught it and was very sick. Because there is no vaccination against it, we made the decision not to allow visitors until more is know about how it is transmitted. We have several OLD Bullies who probably would not survive such an awful disease. Just like with the human variety, it's hardest on the young and old.

PepperJack, In His prime, Passed Away June 2005, 11 yrs old Have a good day and don't teach your Bully to sing it will annoy your neighbors. lol lol
I remembered with a smile PepperJack singing his mournful tune when he wanted to 'ride shotgun' (in the passenger's seat) in the van with me. He loved to sit up straight and proud so when the crowds gathered to look at him, he could turn from side to side, showing them how hansome he was. He was such a ham.

$340 Million Lottery
I did the craziest thing Sunday. While coming back from grocery shopping at the 'little big city' down in Mississippi, I heard on the radio that the lottery was up to $340 Million. I came home and told Bob I wanted to buy tickets so I got on the computer, found the TN Lottery website and read how the game is played and actually bought tickets for the drawing Wed night.

When Bob asked me what the first thing I would do with the money would be I said, "I'd build the best Kennel Facility possible and staff it with people who absolutely loved Bullies!!! Those old heifers would be getting daily massages, be hand-fed and pampered something awful." I could go on and on, but there's no use unless my number is actually drawn tonight. lol lol

Wednesday - 10/19/05 7:30 AM
Good Morning!!!
The medicine like to have killed me but I surely am feeling better!!! lol lol

I worked like a dog Monday & yesterday, then cooked so I wouldn't have to deal with it again for a few days. I like to cook but I don't like to do it everyday, so I cook lots at one time to get it over with!!! Monday I baked a turkey and then made Chinese stir fry. Yesterday I baked sweet potatoes, made Italian sauce to eat with the Italian sausages I make from scratch and the ones I bought and fried up, not knowing if mine would be good or not.

Yesterday morning we had biscuits, Judy made country sausage (fun, easy and a source of great pride) and molasses. As a general rule I don't like sweets but 'lasses" on fresh, hot biscuits is some fine eatin' or maybe it's a 'memory lane' kind of thing. I had the most wonderful Grandfather and I can remember sitting on his knee sipping 'white coffee' from a saucer while eating my 'lasses and biscuits'.

Isn't it amazing that you are making memories for your children and/or grandchildren that they will carry with them for a lifetime. Too bad we aren't consciously aware of this fact, every moment we're with them.

Be good to yourself today; stay away from people who have intentionally hurt you, forgive those who didn't mean to and be wise enough to know one from the other. - Judy

Sassy T June,2002 You just can't reason with an old heifer that is content to be sleeping belly-up in the sun when it's 80 degrees!! Lordy it must feel good on her old bones. I rolled her over on her side and tried to explain it was going up to 86F, which would be TOO hot for her to be lying out so she had to come inside. She wasn't saying a word, just laying still and trying her best to ignore me. A tug on the lead produced no response; an assertive pull on the lead didn't even make her open her eyes. If I didn't know her so well I would think she was dead or at least extremely sick, but Sassy T and I have been through this many times in the past so I know exactly what she is thinking ... HUMANS ARE SO HARD TO TRAIN!! Sassy T June,2002

I've been working hard all morning; feeding & walking dogs, cleaning/scrubbing dog runs, washing and hanging up dog bedding, watering plants and pulling up a few weeds. Most of the last hour has been spent in the covered dog runs where the temperature has gotten up to 93F so I'm HOT. Sweat is running down my head and into my eyes, trickling down my tummy and I can feel my face start to get red.
Sassy T June,2002
That's it, Sassy T has to move and I mean NOW. I picked up the water hose, turned in on and let the long spray march it's way slowly toward her backend. Her hearing is failing so just to be sure I'm not unfair, I flick the hose just enough so that a few drops would touch her. This made her raise her head and look around. Sassy T June,2002

With disgust she got up on her old legs and started moving slowly toward the house, just a few steps ahead of the spray of water, knowing full well she could go as slow as she wanted just so long as she kept moving. We've played this out many times before ... I love my Sassy T.

(Pictures were taken June 2002. The only difference is she's older and the puppy is grown)

Lisa Marie, mother of pup We got back from the vet's office this morning at 4 AM, we had a litter of ONE, a male, delivered via emergency c-section.

At 12:30 last night, the mother ate and her temperature was normal, so we felt sure she was fine for the night. At 1:30 AM Bob woke me up, she had lost her 'plug', had upchucked the food she ate, was panting and nesting. I called the vet, told him how sorry I was that I had to call, but I needed to meet him in 45 minutes for an emergency c-section.

I got through reviving the puppy but was concerned that he wasn't as fast at coming around as I like. I then had to step outside and upchuck. I had taken a little decongestant with codeine to which I'm allergic but thought I could get by just taking a tad since I could really feel chest congestion. Lisa Marie's Male Puppy 10/17/05 Once on our way home, I tucked the puppy up under my shirt on my bare skin, just over my heart so he could feel it beat. It wasn't long until the warmth and heart beat caused him to start screaming, which is good in this case, like slapping a baby's behind to make him yell opening the lungs, etc.

Bob had to pull over twice to suction the puppy because I heard fluid which is not uncommon with a c-section and twice for me to upchuck... what a horrible condition I was in, responsible for the life of the puppy and so terribly sick. Once home I jumped out of the van to continue the purging of my system... never again will I take that medicine!!! (although of late I had been able to do so by taking 1/16 of the recommended dose)

As soon as I was able, I laid down with the puppy and snuggled him up under my chin with hands cupped around him and a light blanket over us both. This warm environment simulated his mother's womb. Thus I was able to watch him while Bob put the other litter of puppies on their mother to nurse.

Kate, Grandmother of the puppy Bob joined us in bed 1 1/2 hours later and we dozed until the puppy started to cry at 7 AM. Bob then cut off the umbilical cord clamp, suctioned out his nose, put him back to snuggle just a few minutes afterward for reassurance and then took him downstairs to nurse.

The puppy might have survived without such tender loving care, but he might not have.- Judy

PS Don't you know it will be hard for me to let go of this puppy, especially since he is the grandson of our spoiled brat Kate and great-grandson of Elvis. He is a big puppy so I'm sure he will be one of our bigger Bullies when grown.

My body is up and going..... but my brain is still in bed!!

I did so much work on Thursday I exhausted myself. By nightfall I felt like a vampire had 'taken' me out lunch so I crawled into bed and there I've been until three hours ago.

I've just read the following article on CNN in regard to a new Dog Flu, please use this URL to read the full story http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/14/dog.flu.ap/index.html

I'm off to clean dog runs and wash their bedding. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! - Judy

Bessie Smith & Mr Cat I'm awake but all is quiet... Bob wasn't in bed so he evidently got up with the "babies" earlier and didn't return because he didn't want to take the chance of it waking me up, he is such a dear.

Obviously I need a cup of coffee this morning to 'kick start' my brain because I've been sitting here for 16 minutes trying to type this entry ... lol lol maybe I'll go back to bed.

Dixie Pie 9/5/05 Oops, 'our gang' is officially awake, Kate just let out her 'I got to go' bark, Dixie Pie and Bessie Smith will be chiming in if I don't hurry. Hopefully Bob is still asleep so I need to take care of the Bullies before they wake him up. Have a Good One!! - Judy

PS Inspiration - I must share with you excerpts from an email I received from my friend Lynne which was in response to one from me in which I said something along the lines of; many people would cave in at this point in their cancer battle so if she felt herself slipping just to raise her hand and I would grab onto it." The info in enclosures () I added for clarification.

Good Afternoon Judy,

Cave in...WHO ME???? No way, sweetie... This tough old bird, broad ... is still kicking and back to being tough. I awoke with little headache and no discernable dizziness although if I push too hard I think I could go there so I'm being good for now. Just got back from my second treatment (15 total needed for the lesions) and I told (husband) I'll give it one more day of rest but plan to be back driving on Friday if all seems well tomorrow.

I told him to plan and take his trip next week. Mom said she'd drive me if needed .... ..(daughter) God love her, wanted to come up but I told her "NO" that I'd be better knowing she's getting her art show together as this is her last semester. I told her to call and cheer me up a couple times next week as only she can do!

So I'm fine and being well taken care of. Now that the symptoms are going away I'm getting back to the business of being Lynne again. ... I can type again today reasonably well so I think my motor skills are coming back to normal as well.

(speaking of a friend) she's got to pull herself up by her bootstraps and stop being a victim plus learn how to give herself an attitude adjustment. Amazing what that can do for us, right! FAT & SASSY here we go! - Love, Lynne

When she first started her cancer treatments I told her I had walked in her shoes although they weren't so tight and here I was years later, Fat & Sassy!!

Deep Sigh!!! Yesterday I got an email, then a telephone call, from my friend Lynne. She has been battling lung cancer, two rounds of treatments chemo & radiation finally completed 9/22/05 and she was awaiting results of a scan to be taken in a week or so.

She has had a headache for a week and woke up Saturday dizzy and then dry heaves. Monday was spent with the doctor and having tests run, the cancer has migrated to her brain in the form of 4 lesions. At least they aren't tumors, this migration is not uncommon and since they have been detected early the doctor is hopeful. Her scan in March showed the area to be clear so it has traveled there since then.

She has a remarkable positive attitude and reaffirmed today that since she turned the situation over to the Good Lord prior to her first treatment, she has not been afraid... even of dying.

Please pray for my friend. This is a picture of her with her family. She's the one with the big smile hiding behind her husband.

Crazy dreams drove me out of the bed this morning .. so I'm about to start my chores. "Our Gang" must still be sleeping because there isn't a sound coming from downstairs and I don't want to wake them up, because poor Bob needs all the sleep he can get.

I'm backlogged in responding to my emails, there are times I just get discouraged by an influx of emails asking questions which are answered on the front page of my website. This results in me not having the correct frame of mind to respond to any emails or applications to be a Puppy Parent, but I'll push myself to perk up later today and respond to everyone.

I'm gonna turn on the 'Old Time Rock 'N Roll' CD and dance my way through morning chores!!! - Judy

Thank Goodness the weekend is over, because we all did too much!!!???

Lol lol If only you could have read the start of this entry before I checked it to see if it made sense, it didn't. The mistake I liked best was "Thank Foodness" As you can tell, I'm tired and need another nap, but I have a good attitude which is more than half the battle we wage against the obstacles in our life.

I've been training puppies this morning... Bessie (6 months) and Dixie (4 months) have started barking like crazy whenever they want something, which is most of the time. We go in and out of the house all day long and I can't think to complete what I'm doing because they are barking their heads off... The problem is we have a litter of puppies which are demanding much of our time so they are feeling neglected .... they are about to feel more than neglected. I got out my big yellow whistle. It's the big, loud kind that you can get at Wal-Mart in the hunting department. I believe hunters must use it when they get lost in the woods. It even hurts my ears.

First thing this morning, we went out to potty, then back in the house to their crates, then before they could bark again, we went out for a 10 minute playtime, then back to the crates for breakfast, then another potty break when they barked to signal, 'got to go'.

Up to this point all is well and they are playing with their toys. I started cooking human breakfast and the smell of the bacon caused them to start barking. I sent the older dogs out of the room and proceeded to teach the girls that when you bark, you get the whistle blown at you, so you will know how it hurts mama's ears. Third time was the charm this morning, now it's necessary that I have the whistle handy so that noise barking is met with a stern blow from the whistle but barking to go potty is responded to immediately. That is a tough call on my part, but the senseless, spoiled brat barking has to stop ... they can't have the bacon although it smells good and they can't play with Bob when he's got the little puppies with their mother and they can't be under my feet all day. This is our fault, because the one who was awake did whatever it took to shut them up, so they wouldn't wake up the one taking the nap... so the pups are just taking advantage of the situation by barking for any and all things they want, which is just a natural part of canine or human behavior.

Oops I had to stop in the middle of this entry and take a 10 minute nap. I'm off now to do more chores, but before I go, I need to remind all of us, to stop long enough today, to tell those you love how much they mean to you. Many people who have lost loved ones, wish they had taken the time. - Judy

Gosh I've just been lazy today. I got up at 8 AM, much later than usual. After we finished the morning chores we went to the "little big city" for supplies. If you know me you have already guessed I had to stop at 4 different stores. I get my meat at one place, my eggs and produce at another, Wal-Mart for the staples and Big Lots just to check out the bargains. We spent way too much money, had to bring it all into the house, unpack it and find a place to store it. I totally understand why some people eat out all the time, it sure would save a lot of work. Only problem is I can't abide paying good money for the yucky food you get in most restaurants, or prepared food bought in heat 'n serve packaging at the grocery. By 2 PM our tail feathers were dragging the ground, remember Bob had been up and down with the puppies during the night and his going and coming woke me up, so we crawled in bed for a nap, I woke up a couple of hours later and laid right there in the bed reading a book until 5:30 PM when I forced myself to get up to do at least part of the evening chores.

After "our gang" was walked, cleaned and fed, I loaded and stared the dishwasher, transferred clothes from the washing machine to the dryer, threw another load of clothes in the washing machine and decided the rest will have to wait until morning. I fixed us a bacon/egg sandwich, typed up this entry and I'm going back to bed with my book.

Oh Ernie is in deep trouble... he ate the fish pump. He chewed the cord into and since it is the type which is totally submerged in the water, it can't be fixed therefore is no longer of value. Next he ate plastic fittings to the electronic watering system and various thingees on the bottom shelf of Bob's work bench. The other "strays that came to stay" never tear up anything so we had become lax I suppose. Evidently Ern likes plastic and rubber. Also he is making himself a regular pest by chasing the cats and getting in the way when we are trying to housebreak Dixie Pie or taking Betty Smith out to potty. The others bullies just ignore him but they are so young he leads them astray. He definitely is not a positive addition to "our gang". Matter of fact, Bob asked if there was anything positive about him being here and I said, for him yes for us no ...

Our high temps for the next few days are supposed to be in the mid to high 70's with lows in the mid 50's. Good night time sleeping temps for sure. Hope you have a good night. - Judy

Reba We took Peanut & Reba to the vet's today to be bred... Peanut no doubt is the laziest of male bullies. He snored all the way there, slept through Reba barking at the other dogs who passed the van while waiting our turn in the parking lot. After the deed was done, he snored all the way home, but added a lengthy sigh to the end of each snore. lol lol

Good Morning!!!

We're up and going strong this morning, that is if I can keep from sneezing. The cold front which arrived yesterday also brought with it, mold or something which is really causing Bob and I to reach for the tissues, however the decrease in temperature is delightful. The high for today is forecasted to be 66 F, but I'm having trouble believing that since it got up to 86 F yesterday and it's already 59 degrees.

The puppies are growing like weeds and the time between feedings has stretched out to 3-4 hours depending upon how well they nursed the last time. Bob is the main caregiver at this point but I will be taking over soon with Sugar's babies. When they start walking they're mine. lol lol

I finished the software for the Halloween Costume Contest yesterday and installed it on the website. City of Athens employees are going to decide the winner so this should be fun. Click Here

English Bulldog Halloween Costume Contest!!!

How about it City of Athens Employees would you all like to be the judges???

Forgive me for I am about to sin... by giving you the below Cookie recipe, it has the potential of being addictive and it's 'no bake'. I couldn't help myself.... I was looking at Cookie Recipes because I needed a name for Sugar Cookie's female puppy. When I saw the name of the below I had to read the ingredients because it matched these pictures:

Peanut, Guitarman, Sugar & Count

Muddy Buddies

9 cups Chex cereal (any variety)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Place cereal in large bowl. Place chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in high for 1 1/2 minutes or until mixture is smooth when stirred. Stir in vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated. Pour mixture into large plastic bag with powdered sugar; shake until all pieces are coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. Makes about 9 cups.

I wrote an entry for yesterday and I looked everywhere for it, until I remembered the electricity went off and I had a terrible time rebooting my computer, finally after 4 hard shut downs, I was able to get it rebooted without errors. I was surely scared there for a few hours. Pitiful me now I can't remember what my entry was about... let me scratch around and see if I can find it.

We were up walking the floors early, early, this morning because we had a female ready to go into labor. We were at the vet's office at 8 AM. She had 3 great looking, healthy puppies born via c-section. There is one female and 2 males. We'll talk more about them when they are a little older. I would hate for someone to get their heart set on getting one, then something happen to it.

Living out in the country is most inconvenient at times. There is only one appliance repairman in the area so he's normally backed up. It takes 3-4 days for him to get here if it's working on an a/c, washing machine, etc. then he has to order the parts and that's another 3-10 days to get the part and come back out to fix the problem. If we want it fixed NOW, we have to figure out how to fix it ourselves then go into the 'big city' for parts.

During the month of September it was both washing machines and the dryer, now it's the a/c. I've been studying the manual and online repair tips. lol lol Now I think we have the drainage problem fixed, it was flooding the house. We had to find the drain hole, figure out what it stopping it up, Lordy nasty sludge, find out how to dissolve the mess and then clean the coil.

If you have sent me an email recently asking about Jeb please click here and go to my 9/7/05 entry for the latest pictures. Speaking of Jeb, I believe his mother MissB is "with pups".

We're tired NOW, so we're going to take a nap. - Judy

PS James Spicer the email address you gave is incorrect.

Stuffed animals for the puppies and lots of other toys, we went to Wal-Mart around Noon and I lucked into a sale, sale, sale. Many small toys for $.10 each so I had a basket full and only spent $6. I got 13 stuffed animals but only got home with 12, there was a little girl and her family in the check-out line behind Bob, I was off doing more shopping. She kept looking at a purple animal while Bob chatted with her parents about Bullies. After he paid for the toys, he asked her parents if it was alright to give it to her and they agreed. Of course Papa Bob told her to never take gifts from strangers unless her parents said it was OK.

Saturday - 10/01/05 Noon
We got up early to get the morning chores completed so that I could go out and about. At 7 AM I decided if I went by myself I would probably re-injure my shoulder so I asked Bob to join me on a short version of what I had planned. The first stop was the school fund raiser, but it wasn't there. I stopped by a local store to inquire and they said they thought all the items they has accumulated for the "yard sale" had be donated to the Katrina Hurricane victims instead of being held over for their fund raiser. Once I thought about it, it seemed so natural. They are warm, caring people, who live in the northern part of Mississippi.

After the first stop I decided we should just turn around and go back home.. "our gang" needed us more than I needed an outing. - Judy

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 50 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone contend that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love, dogs....smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
