Wednesday - November 14, 2007 7:30 AM Good Morning!! We're up and working this morning, trying to get some projects completed before the predicted freeze tomorrow night. If you have been gifted with the ability to love, you are a fortunate person indeed, not all people are capable of loving, some not even themselves. - Judy Tuesday - November 13, 2007 3:00 PM The little pickup truck is used mainly for taking garbage to the dumpster, about 3.5 miles from the house. It's a little piece of junk in my opinion but when 70 year old Bob drives down the road with rock music being pumped out of his special speakers installed behind the seat and his hair being blown by the wind coming in the windows which have been rolled down, he's one cowboy!!! I don't ride with him. It's not that he's dangerous, it's just that the little tin bucket does not have air conditioning, ample padding or a suspension system to justify me riding in it period much less with a "cowboy" behind the wheel. Bob loves his piece of junk. Instead of taking it to the mechanic when the clutch went out, he confessed he thought "Judy can fix it", so he brought it home to me. Yes I fixed it and it was easy, it had run out of clutch fluid, poured some in and presto everything was fine, well as fine as can be with his little tin bucket which he's been driving for 15 or so years. I don't have to tell you, Bob isn't mechanical, do I. lol lol While it was still in working order and before it rained I asked him to drive it to Corinth, Mississippi for a load of compost to put in a flower bed. First off the cab interior was covered in dog hair. He takes either Melanie or Sweetie with him when he goes to the trash dumpsters. I of course chose to wear a black knit top, so I had to go back in the house for a sheet to cover the seat. We had just arrived in Corinth and gotten the compost loaded via backhoe when a storm with hail broke loose .... there were no rubber left on the windshield wiper blades so we couldn't see and had to pull over several times before we could make our way to Wendy's Hamburgers which wasn't but a couple of miles from where we were. We ran through the rain into Wendy's and waited until the rain let up to run back out to the truck after eating .... that is when we noticed that the tires on the back were almost flat due to the heavy load. I gave directions taking back roads to an oil changing company on Hwy 72, where they aired up the tires and changed out the blades. I was tense but now I'm beginning to relax. Out on the highway going home strong winds made that little bucket of bolts hard for Bob to handle, it was similar to hydroplaning and I was convinced that we needed to let OUT some of the air, just put in the tires!! By now I'm praying to the Good Lord if he will just see to it that I get home safe and sound, I will never, ever, in this lifetime get back in that little truck. The above reminded me of getting lost in the jungle in Mexico, Bob was driving the little VW Bug we had rented. I kept telling him "Honey this isn't a road, remember the dirt road back yonder had two tracks with grass growing in the middle, but there is only one track here. I fear we are going where only donkey as gone before". When we finally emerged into a clearing in back of a Federally outpost, I got out of the car, told them "loco gringo" while pointing at Bob. They started laughing and patting him on the back, I still don't know what he managed to tell them with the little spanish he knows. I'm going to go take a nap, I deserve it. - Judy Tuesday - November 13, 2007 9:45 AM We've been singing and dancing to "Old Time Rock N' Roll" ... Take those old records of the shelf, listen to them all by myself .... Hey Bugs, Not So Loud You're Scarin' Cherry Cookie!!!
I have lots to share with you, but I am making Bob a Green Tomato & Hot Pepper Relish, so hot that just taste testing had me coughing. He loves it. I cut up all the ingredients last night and got it half way cooked, but I was too tired to finish it. I brought it to a boil then turned it off. I turned it back on to cook down earlier this morning, but the fumes, a mixture of vinegar & hot peppers, like to have taken my breath away. It's getting warm enough so I can turn the attic fan back on to remove the vapors as it cooks. I've got to finish canning it ASAP. Oh my, Bob just came back from taking the trash to the dumpster and announced that the clutch has gone out in the little pickup truck. We'll have to get out the manual and see what can be done and/or call our mechanic to come get it with his wrecker. Never a dull moment around here!! Be of Good Cheer, for this too shall pass. - Judy Monday - November 12, 2007 4:30 PM

Monday - November 12, 2007 Noon Selling tickets for BBQ Boston Butt & Smoked Turkey Fund Raiser
Here Bob and I are with one of the mascots
What an active weekend we had!!! At 6 PM last night we met Cammie's new parents in Bolivar, TN for them to get her. They were thrilled because she is such a beautiful baby girl. They are friends of our friends Beth & John, who have 2 of our "Bully Babies", plus two more!! Bob took pictures, but we were so tired after we got home and completed the evening chores, that uploading pictures was the last thing on our minds. Later today I'll upload, edit, size and produce the code to display them here. I did manage to send the email address of Cammie's new parents to Grunt's new owners so they can be in contact via email and maybe visit with each other in the future. Both couples are very nice and about the same age. Sunday - November 11, 2007 2:00 PM GOD BLESS ALL OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM WHO PAY THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR OUR FREEDOM!!! Saturday - November 10, 2007 5:00 PM Kelly had bought Grunt a sweater and a camo outfit. We had so much fun dressing up baby and talking. Kelly and I thought Grunt looked real cute in his little hat, but Grunt and Kevin shared the opposite opinion. The hat disappeared into Kevin's pocket after a couple of pictures were taken. lol lol Bob kept taking pictures, most of which were too good not to post so here they are......

Last night I attempted to get some final shots of Grunt & Cammie together. Out of
27 pictures this one was the only one that was clear and sharp ... needless to say they are
telling me what they thought about the camera's flashing light. This morning we met the new owners of Grunt in Jackson, TN at 9:30. They are perfect for him!! Will spoil him rotten but also be strict which is exactly what he needs. I'm very please they got him. Kelly gave me a present of home baked chocolate chip cookies and gourmet instant coffee, with special instructions to take more time for myself. She said it makes her tired just reading all we do in a day. I'll post the Grunt Pickup Pictures just as soon as I can process them. On the way home we stopped at Wal-Mart in Bolivar, TN to lend moral support to the volunteers who were selling tickets for a BBQ boston butt fund raiser for Friends of Hardenman County Animal Control. We took pictures for their website, Bob is the webmaster. When we left there I told Bob I was hungry so we tried out a Mexican restaurant that we had not eaten at before. Our next stop was a thrift store to get sheets for the bullies and towels because the volunteers who are fostering the animals need them. Remembered a friend who lives in SC asked me if I had any Catalpa Tree seeds so we drove about 3 miles down the road to where I had seen a tree, got the seeds and we were back home around 2:45 PM!!! Full, fun filled day.- Judy Friday - November 9, 2007 7:10 PM ![]() Click Here For - Lisa's Puppies Video On YouTube Much activity here already this morning. About now Bob is meeting Mandy's new mama at the Memphis airport. She will hand carry Mandy onto the airplane, place the soft sided pet carrier under the seat of the person in front of her during take-off and landing, otherwise Mandy will be in the carrier in her lap so reassuring hands can comfort her. We've never had anyone to report a bad experience when a pup is transported this way. Oops I started this entry at 8:30 but Li'l Cookie called so I went running and forgot to come back and finish. Will be back later with pictures. - Judy Paula flies to Memphis International Airport to pickup Maxine! The first picture is Li'l Cookie and Maxi early, early this morning...
Thursday - November 8, 2007 8:40 PM Whew, it's been a long day but much was accomplished. Lisa Marie's puppies, plus Li'l Cookie and Mandy were taken to the vet today. Grunt & Cammie passed their well puppy physical with flying colors. Li'l Cookie passed except for a "known" hernia which we had repaired. She was a bit of a wimp afterward and had to have Bob hold her for a long time. We took Mandy to get her Health Certificate because her new Mama is flying in to get her tomorrow. Lisa Marie still wants the puppies to nurse ... they are 8 weeks old and normally I allow the Bully Mama to wean them, but this is a bit too much. We decided she was one of those mothers who would want them to nurse until the were grown, therefore we made the decision to wean them, plus release Grunt to his new parents who will treat him like a baby. So that leaves Cammie and Li'l Cookie. With all my heart I want to keep Li'l Cookie. She is exactly what I have been breeding to achieve, the almost perfect Mini Bully. I'm still going back and forth with the decision. However, a person who has one of our "babies" who is now 2 years old asked about her and I told her if I decided not to keep her I would place Li'l Cookie with her. So that leaves Cammie who I have not presented as available. She's so very cute and a real snuggle bunny. I'm going to sleep now. - Judy Thursday - November 8, 2007 Noon In 2004, I was at a Flea Market when I saw a small brightly colored parrot. It was a Sun Conure. I walked over to take a look, not interested in buying but like any nosey person asked the price. When told $150, I had to ask, why so cheap? The person, who has a wonderful reputation in the "bird world", told me it has a nasty disposition. I don't even like birds, I'm afraid of them but Bob loves them. I looked that bird in the eyes and could see no sign of an aggressive personality. Anyone who has done rescue for 50 years (got my first kitten out of a trash can behind a store at age 5) knows the critter look I'm talking about. I can just look at most animals and tell if they will bite or not.
I walked around the flea market for some time and bought a big "used" cage. I had to drive
my van inside the flea market grounds to pick it up. I then stopped at the booth with the
parrot and asked the man the bottom dollar he would take for the Sun conure, he said $75.
I asked if that included him transferring it to my newly purchased cage and he said yes.
Done deal. Needless to say my Bob was surprised. In less than a week, he had that "mean" bird taking an in the shell peanut from his open hand and in another 2 weeks the newly named Blaze was giving BigDaddy kisses on his cheek. This morning Blaze and I were sharing a peanut butter sandwich. I broke off a small piece for "him" (we think) but he wanted to nibble on my part of the sandwich. I told him just because Bob would let him do it, doesn't mean I am, no parrot gets to nibble on my sandwich!! lol lol - Judy Wednesday - November 7, 2007 6:00 PM
We worked like dogs until about 9:30 PM and were exhausted, however I was wired and couldn't go to sleep. We were unable to walk through the house for all the plants that we just sat down where convenient. Today we're still working to get the house straight and delivered a bunch of Brug cuttings to a local gardener. I've taken a few pictures which I will post a little later. - Judy Tuesday - November 6, 2007 7:30 AM Good Morning!!! It's now 46F and the high temperature for today is predicted to be 54F. By late afternoon it is suppose to drop to 40F and then down to 28F tonight. Meanwhile I have house plants all over the porches which must be brought inside and Angel's Trumpets galore which must be trimmed back if in pots or cut down if they are in the ground. Pots must be put in the covered dog run. Trimmings and the ones we cut down are going several places. I'm sending packages to OK & OR, plus a local woman wants all left-overs. If we don't kill ourselves trying to get it all done, then I'm sure I'll be too tired to be back on the computer .... and here I leave you ... walking off muttering to myself. - Judy Monday - November 5, 2007 7:30 PM Goodness I love my Nana Cookie - Judy Date: 11/04/07 Subject: Nana Cookie Update Hi Judy, Just to let you know she is growing like a weed. She and Henry are doing great together. Here are some pic's of her. Nana loves to play outside, she just rolls around in the grass and we like to never get her back in. Bruce hasn't down loaded the new pictures. She was a big hit on trick and treat nite. Hope you're feeling better. Prayer and Hugs
Sunday - November 4, 2007 7:30 PM Update on the Ditch Puppies .... there were no takers but everyone played with them and remarked on how sweet they are. Bob said they were so good, walking on their leads for one of the teenage helpers and giving kisses to all who asked for them. lol Sunday - November 4, 2007 1:15 PM I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Kelly, Warning: Keep your clothes on around Grunt!! lol lol I sleep in the buff and last night I went from a deep sleep to charging down the stairs because one of the Bullies screamed. At the kitchen door I paused waiting for another sound so I could find the source. All I heard was a growl from one of the puppies, gathered at the pools edge. I had to lay my hands on them to figure out who was growling, it was Grunt. He was still ridged, not recognizing me without clothes. lol lol When I started sweet talking him he relaxed, like whew!! I was laughing so hard I woke Bob up as I got back in the bed. Speaking of Grunt, at this stage he gets chilled after he eats mushy food so I have a sheet and a couple of t-shirts warmed in the drier ready to put on them immediately after they finish eating. The girls enjoy the warmed items, but Grunt needs them. I'm sprinkling baby formula over their mushy food, but you can switch to plain unflavored yogurt not the low-fat kind. Lisa is still insisting that they we allowed to nurse. - Judy Saturday - November 3, 2007 Noon I'm being lazy today because I'm trying to fight off bronchitis. I slept until 10:30 AM, immediately walked around outside looking at the flower beds, then warmed up the coffee Bob had put on my nightstand before he left to attend the Animal Rescue Adoption Day. He took the 3 Ditch Puppies, found in a ditch which runs beside the road where they had been adandoned. Hopefully he can find a good home for them. We had them neutered, given all their shots, plus county/state tags. What a joy they would be for a 12 year old country kid who likes to run like the wind exploring fields and the wonders of the forest. The temperature dropped to 36.5F very early this morning and woke me up. If it had gotten colder, I would have gotten up and brought the more delicate house plants inside. I'm just not ready for the house to be crowded with plants, there's enough "stuff" packed inside as it is. Well that thought shocked me into a "throw away" mood. Today will be, if we haven't used or enjoyed it in the last year, either throw-it-away or pass it on. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend filled with the things and people you love. A few of the things I love ... our motley mix of critters (stray dogs that came to stay, cockateils a breeder threatened to turn loose, 2 cats born to a feral cat under our porch, rescued dogs and our English Bulldogs) too many plants, old pictures hanging on the wall that make me smile when I pass, old books laying all about and those packed away hopeful of one day a display, the hand carved cat laying on the antique settee, the muted colored old scarf draped across the back of an over-stuffed chair, the brightly colored scarf in the crystal vase, the childhood tin clown bank, the open music box ... these are but a few of the things I love. - Judy Thursday - November 1, 2007 7:45 AM Goodness Gracious how time flies ... Old Man Winter, Thanksgiving, my birthday and Christmas are knocking at the door. I thought you would like the following message which I sent to Kelly, Grunt's new Mama, this morning. I asked Lisa Marie when she was going to wean them and she said as a first time mother she didn't know this word "wean". lol lol Normally I like for the Mama Bully to wean the pups on her own because they seem to know the need of the puppies, but as you can see here we are at 6 weeks and she is not inclined to wean them nor are they inclined to be weaned. If weaned early there is a definite risk of an oral fixation which results in "chewers". Hopefully she will wean them soon, then I need to keep them for about 10 days because at that point they will no longer be covered by her immunity and if there is a health issue it will surface .... so it looks like we're right on target for 11/10. However, Grunt I'm sure will still be a baby and you will have to treat him as such. More later... the critters are telling me they have to go now. - Judy PS In reference to Mandy, there have been many people interested in her, but the only time I made a bad decision in regard to picking parents for one of my babies, was when I was sick. From then on I just do not make decisions when I have a fever, therefore it's not her fault that she hasn't been reserved, it's mine. Several years ago, I was sick as a dog and placed a puppy with a couple in Northern Alabama, it turned into a nightmare, which I will never forget. Click Here Judy's Garden 2005!!
