I started this feature for friends and family to answer their "What's going on?" emails,
therefore, I probably tell too much,
but you are welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

Updated Pictures of Our "Babies"
Being Updated As Emails Arrive & Time Permits!!!

Saturday - 5/20/04 - 6:00 AM

Bob got out of the bed, quietly this morning so I could continue to sleep, he's so sweet. His daughter is due to fly into Memphis today. He is to meet the plane and take her out to a nice restaurant afterward to eat and talk. Meanwhile I'll be cleaning on the house, please note I did not say "clean the house", it would be impossible for me to be able to complete the task and take care of the puppies, before she arrives!!!

The NYC couple decided to wait about getting another pup, so Dizzy is available. Well, I'm off to do the impossible!!! Take care and be safe this weekend. - Judy

Friday - 5/28/04 - 4:00 PM

I've sent an email to Lisa Bowen, who has been on the Waiting List as wanting a female the longest, asking her if she wants Gabby's Belle. I told her I would hold Belle until Tuesday, just in case they were out of town.

Friday - 5/28/04 - 5:30 AM

Good Morning!!! I'm up and working early this morning. Distant thunder penetrated my sleep, popped me awake and got me moving fast ... I thought I had left sheets on the outside clothesline.

Jelly and I have been acting silly already this morning. Jeb doesn't bark unless he wants to go potty or on rare occasion if he wants food, but Jelly barks, tries to talk by growling and her tongue is constantly licking. I act silly, which makes Jelly act silly, which makes poor Jeb stare in amazement at the Jelly sounds and movements. Of course he must become part of the action so he runs for his stuffed rabbit, shaking it to get our attention.

I'm working with people trying to make decisions on which puppy they want. A couple in NYC, who already have one of our male Bullies, are wanting another one and I believe they are going to select Dizzy. He's just way too cool and would be the one that I would pick for a companion.

Bill & Diane Nale, have decided upon Gabby's largest female, so now the smaller one will be offered to the person who has been on the Waiting List the longest for a female. At this point, my best guess is that she will be, what I call, one of my Mini's when grown.

Selection of the pups is going slower than normal, I suppose due to this being Memorial Day weekend, the price of gas, the world situation and the fact that I have been off-line. This pace is just fine with me.

Take care and have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!!! - Judy

Thursday - 5/27/04 - 6:30 AM

Dizzy, Mo & Jazzman's male puppy, is now available to be reserved. He's so funny and laidback as you will see in the pictures as I turn him every which way. He is the biggest puppy we have ever had!!!! Although he was 5 days late and the only one in the litter which would account for some size difference, I believe he's just going to be one BIG Bully!!!! I'm proud to say he's going to have Jazzman's wide chest and stance.

Whew, I've got lots to do. I spent most of yesterday thinking about other people's situations. one of which was the owners of a injured Bully, bought in Alabama. The Bully has a severe knee problem which will cost $1700 to surgically repair, plus the operation will have to wait for 2-3 months before they can possibly have it done, they are already trying to pay off the $2400 for emergency surgery and treatment for their other Bully. While they are waiting, I suggested they try an treatment of crating, tranquilizers, steroids and glucosamine to see if there is an improvement.

Bob had Jury Duty yesterday. Fortunately, the Judge let them off for the remainder of the week so he will be here to help get things done before his daughter arrives.

I'd like to go back to bed but I best get myself in motion.... - Judy

Wednesday - 5/26/04 - 10:30 AM

One thing about life, it is not boring!!! Or perhaps I should have said, Life With Judy is not boring! (lol lol lol) Poor Bob, the things I get him into ... but he enjoys most of them!! We decided there is no way around it we have to build a greenhouse before winter, because I have officially become a member of the "plant nut society", I want to propagate everything, just to see if I can. (Little joke there is no such society, that I know of)

Bob loves all the plants and even asks me not to cut the long stringy runners of the philodendron. He planted his first seeds inside way early in the spring using those goofy jiffy pots so we have numerous tiny spindly pepper plants. I don't know that they will ever grow into good size plants, much less produce peppers, but I gave him some of my pots and helped him transplant them. The way I see it is, if they make it he will join the society, so I'm keeping a close eye on them, slipping them a little water and fertilizer as they need it!!!

We bred Juliet to Jazzman yesterday. The below picture of her was taken right after she had her other litter.

Tuesday - 5/25/04 - 6:30 AM

Belated Birthday Greetings To Our Dear Friend Stacie!!!

Dizzy, Mo & Jazzman's male puppy, is Available. I sent an email to the lady who had said she wanted him and her reply was that she had bought a boxer puppy. If you are on the Waiting List and want him, please let me know.

Do you ever just get tired of food and not have an appetite? I think it's the onset of hot weather that does it because Bob & I are that way now, plus "our gang" have really slowed down on the amount of food they are eating. I went to the grocery yesterday and walked every inch of the store trying to find something that I thought we might want to eat. Bob and I could stand to lose a few pounds so it's no big deal, but the body can't work hard without fuel. I ended up getting luncheon meats for sandwiches ... quick and easy!!

The "yard dogs" have started laying in my flower beds, so I put out Moth Balls. I don't know if they will work for more than a few days, but for the present the dogs are staying clear. One sniff and they started to sneeze.

More pictures later today.... Got to run take care of "babies". - Judy

Bob is off to Jury Duty and I'm holding down the farm ..... Yesterday, our year and 3 month old, Whirlpool Duet Washing Machine laid down and died during a drain cycle. According to the error code, either the water drain pipe is clogged (with dog hair I'm sure) or the pump went out, whichever we're either going to have to call in a repair person or fix it ourselves. The other one, dog bedding washing machine, has been out of commission for several months because it started to jump all over the place in a spin cycle. Just before the Duet bit the dust, we had been working on the "doggie" one so we were then forced to fix it NOW ... a little country ingenuity did the trick. The bracket had rusted out where the spring attached so Bob drilled another hole.

How do you get a husband to start to work on something that's broken ..... use the computer to access a "repair website", figure out the possibilities, tell him what you discovered, then start rummaging in the tool box being sure to make lots of noise, slam the lid closed, slam the door closed if it's an outside broken item, if an inside item count to 20 and holler "dang", then wait 10 minutes. By this time he figured out 1) you'll fix it and he'll never hear the end of it, or 2) you'll do more damage and it will mean more work for him. (lol lol)

Alison is definitely coming to visit this weekend!!! She's flying into the Memphis Airport on Saturday and Bob is going to go pick her up!! Of course there are 1000 things I would like to get done before she gets here, but .....

PuppyGal Tips:
I'm highly allergic to all bites and stings, plus I'm always cooking!!!
1) If you get burned generous apply vinegar
2) If you get stung by a flying insect, wet the area and pour salt on it.
3) If you get a mosquito, tick, chigger bite use Neutrogena Healthy Skin, Face Lotion, expensive but it works!!

I'm off to accomplish the impossible. - Judy

You can say any foolish thing to a dog,
and the dog will give you a look that says,
'My God, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'
--Dave Barry

Jeb, The Champ - March, 2004! So I had a nice long talk with Jeb and he agreed with everything I said, especially the part about cooking up a nice pot of Pigeon Peas with Ham Hock & Rice!!! First we were going to have cornbread but somehow it didn't sound so good when we thought about the Rice therefore toasty French Bread was decided upon.

We were really into 'how to solve the problems of the world', when I looked down at him and he had nodded off!!!

I think we should all follow Jeb's lead and make this a lazy, sleepy Sunday!!! I'll be quiet now!

Saturday - 5/21/04 - 10:30 AM

Good Morning!!!! I decided against going to the Plant Swap this morning which would have been a 4 hour round trip. I have too much to do here and it's going to be too hot for me (I don't sweat, therefore have passed out before because I got too hot). I wouldn't have known a soul there and Bob couldn't accompany me since we have Gabby's pups that need feeding every 3 hours. We considered taking them with us, but decided 'no', again due to the heat. I'm I just being pitiful or what!!!

We have wonderful news, Bob's daughter Alison, may visit us Memorial Day Weekend. They haven't seen each other in ages so this is thrilling. I hope she can handle visiting a Zoo!!

Bob moved the, now grown, chickens, to a large fenced area with a dog house as a temporary shelter. We're hoping Big John will become their protector and prevent critters from getting them. When I got these chickens I had it in my mind that they would run free, then of course Dumpy kept trying to "get them" and what a time I had convincing him they were not his next meal. My suggestion then was to give them to a neighbor, but Big Bob by this time had formed an attachment. He loves birds!! I did tell the rooster that he would become Dumpy's next meal if he tries to peck me again, but I really couldn't do it.

This is going to be a terrific weekend for us and I sincerely hope yours is the same. - Judy

Friday - 5/20/04 - 5:30 AM

Mercy!!!! Yesterday really got hot!!! Real feel temp was 93 and it was so humid it was hard to breath. We haven't turned on the a/c yet because once we do it's harder to get out into the heat to work. We usually can make it well into June before turning it on, but that's because we live in the middle of the woods.

We've already started to thinking about a Fall PuppyGal Bully Reunion at Paris Landing, TN if the park will allow all the Bullies. Wouldn't it be nice to meet early in the morning and spend the day together talking Bullies and seeing how all the "babies" turned out!!! Of course Bob & I would be pushing food and giving helpful Bully hints, it's our nature.

Have a Glorious Weekend!!!!! - Judy

Special Message: Hello Alison!!! Your Daddy loves you!!!!! - Judy

Thursday - 5/20/04 - 5:30 AM

We had a great visit with Jill and her son Drake when they came to pick-up Mac AND I filled her truck up with plants as she was leaving!!! Drake is shy but Mac surely isn't so it's going to make for an interesting combination. All the "yard dogs" made friends with Drake immediately and he wasn't intimadated, not even by Big John. Jill loves Jelly, so they loved on her for a good, long while. Jeb started trying to do his male thing with Fluffy so he had to "go up". Mandy siddled up next to both Jill and Drake wanting her share of the loving. We didn't let any others of "our gang" out to visit because they are not use to children and I didn't want to take the chance of Drake being overwhelmed. As it was Mac was being a little too nippy with growling, just like we were his litter mates, so I told Jill to use a piece of "junk mail" on his little behind to nip that in the bud. Wouldn't you know I had told Jill that Mac would be great with her children and first thing he wants to do is play rough. I sent her an email telling her to give him a week and if he still wants to play rough I would take him back and refund her $$, plus!!!

He is one good looking Bully Pup

Wednesday - 5/19/04 - 6:30 AM

Big John Wayne!!!! Here he is in the big container I used to mix and hold my potting soil. I gave up fighting with him for ownership and resigned myself to the fact that it is now "his".

We have a new wire crate with the door open sitting right next to the back door because Fluffy, 14 lb Miniature Eskimo Spitz, likes to take naps in it, etc. Fluffy was being the "guardian of the food pan" and would not let the other dogs eat. I just scooped her up, put some food in the crate for her and closed the door so the other "yard dogs" could eat. I told Bob one day Big John was going to hurt her if she didn't stop being so bossy. About 30 minutes later, I let her out and noticed she had not eaten. Evidently, some time during the night Big John stuck his head in the crate to eat the food, don't ask why when there was a dish pan full not 5 feet away, his back hit the door which raises up, it scared him, he bolted inside and the door dropped down. I can't imagine that big ole dog in that small crate. He literally tore it up getting out, unbelievable!!!

Earlier in the night we heard running on the porches, Bob went down to investigate and found Big John frolicking with the three small guys. He was chasing them and they were bouncing from the floor onto the straight-back chairs, down to the floor, up on the "park bench", around and around they were going. Right in the middle of all this was a giant Anglewing Begonia, laying in pieces on the floor. He told them they were all in TROUBLE now!!!

On the positive side, Big John gets along well with all the other animals and people. Because he's so large and vocal he makes an excellent guarddog and ..... he loves me.

Jill is coming today to get Mac, the last of the Smart Cookie puppies to go home and she's already told me she will be glad to take Big John should I find he is just too much to handle with females Bullies in heat. Hopefully, the neutering will have a positive impact.

Today I hope to finish up the "Horsey Website" I've been working on for a friend. If you have time to visit the site, please do so and send me suggestions on how to make it better. www.cloudfarms.com

If you live in our area and would like to attend the Middle Tennessee Plant Swap this Saturday, May 22, send me an email and I will forward the information. (No Dogs Allowed)

Thanks to Claire Goodwin, we learned that the below "Swiffer Warning" is untrue. Please visit this website for detailed information!!!

I made a 3 hour round trip to the big city for dog food yesterday afternoon and made a couple of stops along the way... those of you who were here this weekend will not believe I bought more plants!!! (lol lol lol) Well, I didn't have any like these. I came home and "potted them up", 5 additional large pots of plants, plus a new Iris for the flower bed. (At least I didn't bring home any 4 legged critters.) I met a very nice young lady who is interested in starting a greenhouse, it's a good thing she lives so far away cause I would be tempted to throw in with her, as if I had the time.

I'm fairly certain that Sleepy is "with pups" and if I am correct she is going to have a whole basket full. It's only been 26 days since she was bred and normally they have to be about 30 days along before we can tell. She was bred to Jazzman but afterward we discovered he had an infection so the subsequent breedings were with Guitarman. Any resulting pups will have to be DNA tested to establish the sire before they can be registered with AKC. Boy, that should be fun!!!

I'm off to love on "babies". - Judy

First a Gabby & Litter picture, to make you smile!!!!

Gabby's litter sired by Guitarman and Mo's male puppy sired by Jazzman are now 3 weeks old!!! Soon we will have individual pictures posted and the people on the Waiting List will be given the opportunity to reserve them. Meanwhile here are some random shots to give you an idea of how they look - Gabby's babies are going to be red & white or fawn & white, although they look darker in the pictures.

Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.

I certainly don't know how others see me, but the part about making friends and being loyal is true!!!

I have no idea if the following is true or not, it may be a hoax, but I thought it was worth posting to remind us to be careful of the cleaning products we use. Thanks to all who forwarded this info. If anyone has any additional information, please send it to me.

This warning appeared on a group I belong to.. please tell everyone.
I recently had a neighbor who had to have their 5-year old German Shepherd dog put down due to liver failure. The dog was completely healthy until a few weeks ago, so they had a necropsy done to see what the cause was. The liver levels were unbelievable, as if the dog had ingested poison of some kind. The dog is kept inside, and when he's outside, someone's with him, so the idea of him getting into something unknown was hard to believe. My neighbor started going through all the items in the house. When he got to the Swiffer Wetjet, he noticed, in very tiny print, a warning which stated "may be harmful to small children and animals." He called the company to ask what the contents of the cleaning agent are and was astounded to find out that anitfreeze is one of the ingredients. (actually he was told it's a compound which is one molecule away from anitfreeze). Therefore, just by the dog walking on the floor cleaned with the solution, then licking it's own paws, and the dog eating from its dishes which were kept on the kitchen floor cleaned with this product, it ingested enough of the solution to destroy its liver. (Judy Note: the preceeding statement is a conclusion on the part of the man, but does not appear to have been verified) Soon after his dog's death, his housekeepers' two cats also died of liver failure. They both used the Swiffer Wetjet for quick cleanups on their floors. Necropsies weren't done on the cats, so they couldn't file a lawsuit, but he asked that we spread the word to as many people as possible so they don't lose their animals. - Penny, Shrewsbury UK

(Edit/Deletion 8/`3/05)

The Hansons & Jake 5/15/04 Todd Hanson's Parents came to pick up "Jake" because Todd and Tori just couldn't miss their first T-Ball game. Jake will be staying with The Hansons when Todd is at work and I'm sure he will get all the nurturing and training he needs. We were so impressed with their affection for both their Son & Granddaughter. Writing that made tears come into my eyes, there are so many children who don't have parents that care, how I wish everyone of them had supportive, loving parents like the Hansons.

Kathy, Roy & Blossom 5/15/04 Kathy & Roy have much in common with Bob & I. Roy is a programmer and designs computer program which is Bob's area of expertise. Kathy & I both love gardening, house plants and animals. Unfortunately, I let them get away without loading their car down with plants. It just got too active here for me to keep up.... I could just kick myself!!! Bob said later he had been trying to figure out how to hide Big John in their trunk and forgot about the plants.

Chris, Jenny & Gus 5/15/04 Chris is going to have a great time with Smart Cookie's Sandy. His girlfriend Jenny accompanied him on the trip and I could tell the two of them they are going to make great Puppy Parents. They haven't decided upon his name, but have narrowed it down to either Gus & Clyde. Since a pup from her first litter is named Clyde, I tried to talk them into naming him Gus.

Big John and I did the same thing after the party was over!!!

I just had too much fun yesterday and had to sleep in this morning!!! I sincerely believe everyone had a good time interacting with both humans and Bullies. Steve, neighbor, came over with Baby Ruth from Amber & King Bizkit's Litter to show how a 6 month old looks and acts. Big John decided he was in love once again and just would not leave her alone. He normally minds very well, but not when there is a female coming into heat. I kept making him leave the area, but back he would come.

I'm about to edit and upload the pictures we took yesterday so check back a little later. - Judy

Saturday - 5/15/04 - 4:00 AM

It's Party Time!!! The alarm was set for 3 AM but I just couldn't make myself get up!!! 30 minutes later as I fought with my clothes, I noticed the sound of steady falling RAIN!!! As the expression on my face started to change into a scowl, I thought of all the places in this world where 'my rain' would be welcomed with celebration and then I thought of the long hot summer of a few years ago when rain was so scarce that we lost many of our Dogwood Trees .... Thank You Dear God for this wonderful rain.

I'm off to do my morning chores, plus cook and clean, since the new owners of the Smart & Happy puppies are due here at Noon.

Friday - 5/14/04 - 6:30 AM

Good Morning!!!

We still have a light rain but we've got lots of work that has to be done before people arrive to pick-up their puppies tomorrow. Big John is back home, but pouting!!! The truck is back home, although still not running right it will do to take "stuff" to the dumpsters. I've completed the grocery shopping, we are having BBQ Ribs, baked beans and slaw. Hopefully I will get the cooking done early tomorrow morning.

Sugar 3/20/04
I believe Sugar is "with pups", but I'm trying very hard not to get excited. She was bred to Jazzman about 30 days ago so we have another 33 or so days to wait. If there are puppies, they can't help but be extraordinary. I get first pick of the litter with Kim in GA getting 2nd pick. Sugar 3/20/04

It looks like a jungle here with the yard and etc. all grown-up but it's still raining, so what can we do, we can't even apply 'Round Up' when it's raining!!! (lol lol) Yesterday, it hit me that people might find it hard to walk on the porches because there are so many plants .... never again will I tell a plant company just to send 'whatever' because my order had been lost and they were out of stock on the items I had originally ordered. I received 3 times as many plant plugs as I wanted and the 'potting up' went from being a Labor Of Love to being just plain LABOR!!!!

The entrance to the house is actually the back door, just outside is my tacky looking compost pile in which I have potatoes and tomatoes growing. I have plans to add a short fence for a dual purpose of keeping "our gang" out and to use as a support for cucumber vines. In another month anyone who visits will remark they have never seen such vigorous, healthy plants. My secret ingredients are banana peels, coffee grounds and dryer lint containing dog hair from washing their bedding.

When I went shopping, I was amazed at the number of people who looked "mad at the world", how sad. I had put a big smile on my face and greeted all I encountered with a nod of my head or a "Good Afternoon". Life is just to short to do otherwise!!! I hope your weekend goes well!!! - Judy

Thursday - 5/13/04 - 6:30 AM

Looking on the positive side of things, the rain is keeping the temperature lower than it would be otherwise, although it has prevented us cleaning up and mowing the yard.

At 5 PM last night, I noticed Lady of Jazz had 'upchucked' part of her last meal (there is a big difference between 'throwing up' and 'upchucking' when it comes to Bullies, the later not being a big deal if it only happens the one time) and she had diarrhea. We've never had this to happen after a hernia operation, so I called the vet's and asked if one of them would stay until Bob got there with her. Dr Frank determined the operation had just stressed her out. Back home she dozed until Bob finished his chores, then she went to sleep on his belly, in the bed. We made the decision to keep her with us a while longer before being released to her new family.

The garage called to say Bob's truck is ready. How wonderful, we'll be able to take "stuff" to the dumpsters. Steve, our neighbor, called night before last to say he was available but poor Bob was totally exhausted, therefore I asked if we could schedule it for last night. When Bob hurried off to the Vet's I left Steve a message cancelling. Oh how I miss "trash pick-up".

Big John is scheduled to be released today from the vet after having been neutered. We always wait and bring home a member of "our gang" if they have surgery, but he's much larger than I thought we could/should handle knocked out.

Babies are calling me...

Jelly 4/23/04 Wednesday - 5/12/04 - 6:30 AM

Late yesterday afternoon, we took Big John to the Vet's to be neutered. We left him overnight so they could actually perform the operation this morning. I hated to do this just in case he was someone's prize stud, but I absolutely had no choice. He is one "Big Romeo" and we have Bill's female Bully here to be bred to Mini-E, not him!!!

Jelly 4/23/04 We took the Happy & Smart "babies" in for their "well puppy" physical and to have three hernias repaired, two were so small I almost decided not to have them "fixed" but I was afraid for them to leave here without the operation, so we went ahead. The reason for the hernia's is because Red Hot Mama would start nursing on their belly buttons and she has unbelievable sucking power!!! We were at the Surgery Room door, so as soon as they were finished with a pup they would hand them off to us so we could love on them until they were fully awake.

Here are the last of the Jelly Pictures taken 4/23/04

Tuesday - 5/11/04 - 8:30 AM

Well!!! The young man, whom I spoke with twice yesterday, ended up being a "No Show". I had only met him once and that was when he came as the helper to take Bob's truck to the garage so maybe this is for the best. Jelly 4/23/04Then the woman who had previously worked for a vet was suppose to call last night for directions, she didn't, I tried to reach her on her cell phone, no answer. (Guess that told me why she no longer works there.)

Hope you enjoy these pictures we took of Jelly on 4/23. There are only 4 more which haven't been posted and those I'm saving for another day.

Monday - 5/10/04 - 8:30 AM

Good Morning!!!
This is Our Spring Clean Up, Fix Up & Paint Up Week and so being, I will most likely be off-line the entire week. Since Bob has Jury Duty, I've hired a young man and a lady to help me and we will be hard at work on the yard, house and "our gang". If it doesn't move or if it has four legs we're going to wash it. I might get the opportunity to take and upload pictures but it is doubtful!!

One thing for sure I'll be back on-line Sunday with pictures from the Puppy Pick-Up Party on Saturday, 5/15/04.

Happy Mother's Day
to all you special ladies who own English Bulldogs!!!

The Happy & Smart Puppies are doing great. We have them separated except at feeding time. This will help with the transition into their new homes next weekend, hopefully it will prevent them keeping their new owners awake the first few nights.

Our sad news is Gabby's other cleft palate puppy died during the night. We did everything we could to save him, but just couldn't.

Saturday - 5/08/04 - 10:00 AM

My world is better this morning! It's amazing what a good, long, deep sleep will do for a person's body and soul.

I have a ton of pictures to edit and upload later today, but first I have to start burning the tree limbs and twigs. This is the only time both Bob and I will be home together and it's best to have an extra person around. I'm really careful about burning so I'll stay right with it until I put the fire out for the night.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures of Lady of Jazz and that you are having a wonderful weekend!!! - Judy

We started out trying to ignore the alarm clock which was set for 4 AM because our friend Bill Nale was due here between 5-6 AM to bring us his female to be bred by Mini-E. The problem with her leg was as I suspected, but he brought along her x-rays so we could get a second opinion from Dr Frank.

While here, Bill helped Bob to set up three 5x5x5 exercise/holding pens before returning to Illinois. At 7 AM the auto repair garage representative arrived to tow in Bob's truck after a two week wait. It hasn't run in 4 weeks so we didn't get upset with the delay. But instead of the tow truck we were expecting, it was a regular truck with a trailer. They ended up pushing the truck down the drive and it started so they didn't have to load it on the trailer, instead one of them drove it to Bolivar, TN about 45 minutes away. At 8:30 AM Zeb arrived from Alabama, 4 hour round trip, to help Bob dispose of the trees and brush left over from the power company cutting down the trees, it has rain most of the time since the trees were cut. At 9:30 AM the Well Company repair crew arrived to replace the frost free faucet and to see if it was leaking other than the faucet. After replacing the faucet, they put a guage on the water outlet which showed it holding steady pressure, no leak, leading all present to believe we have build the house over a "fresh water spring" because water is flowing out from under the house and none of the house water pipes are leaking. I was hoping for a 'well leak' because that could be fixed. Mercy how do you cap off a spring (lol lol lol)

Meanwhile, Gabby & Mo have become extremely upset having a strange Bully in the house, Bill's female. I almost had a "dog fight" something totally alien in our environment. I'm going to have to work this out so they don't see her which will be hard.

I cooked and we ate a good breakfast of baked ham, biscuits and scrambled eggs about 11 AM. Around Noon Bob and Zeb noticed a tire was flat on the van. After an hour, using "fix a flat and a couple more thingees" it was holding air but leaking fast. I got in the van to rush it to Wal-Mart 30 miles away to get the tire fixed. After 2 hours of waiting they discovered I needed a new tire, so after it was put on I rushed to the Co-Op to get chicken food. Ooops no credit card, back to Wal-Mart it wasn't there. I rushed home, call the credit card company and reported it lost. There were no additional charges so they canceled the card and are issuing a new one.

Meanwhile, I got an positive response from a neighbor when I asked for "help" in taking "stuff" to the county dumpsters. Our county doesn't have trash pick up and since Bob's truck has been out of commission we are behind in taking off stuff, although we were able to take regular trash in the van.

I'm tired now, but my faith in Mankind has been renewed thanks to Zeb, our neighbor Steve, owner of Baby Ruth for those of you who remember her, and the really nice people I've interacted with today!!! - Judy

Thursday - 5/06/04 - 10:00 AM

We were up and down all night with the pups and in particular, Gabby's other tiny puppy. We're doing everything we can to "save" it because it's our nature. This is very difficult .... the easy answer would be to "put it down" and at times I think we are stupid for not doing so.

Other happenings have caused me to feel disillousioned in regard to mankind so I'm going to crank up my O'Brother bluegrass music and take my "cure for the blues". It's been a long time since I have resorted to such drastic behavior Click here for my January 2003 explanation!!! (lol lol)

Wednesday - 5/05/04 - 7:00 PM

The smallest of Gabby's babies died this morning ... and now I cry. We give "Thanks" for what we have and try to move beyond what we have lost, but the losing brings afresh the memories of other "babies", friends and family we've lost along the way.

Wednesday - 5/05/04 - 10:00 AM

I've already made a trip to the "big city" this morning. Big John the Romeo has "fallen in love" with Brooks, Mo's Mother. He spent a good hour licking her ears through the fence yesterday and slept by the door last night. She likes to have her ears licked, but when he tried to lick her face, she growled and snapped!!! (lol lol) Can you tell we are going to have a "time" with him and the ladies!!!! The real problem is he is so big he can escape from any of the pens we have and "properly motivated" he can go anywhere and do anything. I do not believe having him neutered is the answer, since he will still have the desire although not the ability. He is absolutely WONDERFUL and I hated to do it, but I have offered him to my friend Jill, who is getting Smart Cookie's Mac. Meanwhile I'm going to talk with Dr Frank to insure I'm correct in my thinking. Might just try having him neutered to see, I hate to give him up.

Got to run, babies are calling!!! - Judy

Tuesday - 5/04/04 - 9:30 AM

Puppy Pick Up Party
Noon, Saturday 5/15/04!!!!

Smart Cookie & Happy's Puppies will be released to their new homes on Saturday, 5/15/04. We are inviting all new parents to be here for a simple Noon Lunch and socialization. We think it would be wonderful for everyone to meet and hopefully become friends.

Meanwhile if you see a yard sale of children items, stop to get lots of stuffed animals, pacifiers, teething rings, larger size baby blankets, Fisher-Price toys, etc. I'll be taking new pictures and sending out emails in the next day or so with directions and other items you will need for "bringing baby home".... they are beautiful!!!

Tuesday - 5/04/04 - 8:00 AM

I'm late getting up this morning, because we were up and down with the pups all night. Gabby's two small pups both have cleft palates and we do not expect them to live. Meanwhile we're trying but we're still so exhausted from the fight to keep Jelly alive that we are just unable to continue this for long, therefore we have a horrible decision to make.

We haven't had any cleft palate puppies prior, but now have had three within the last 4 months. (Jelly was 4 months old as of 4/28). We are now giving the bred females Folic Acid in hopes of preventing future deformed palates.

The "babies" are calling!!! - Judy

Monday - 5/03/04 - 6:00 PM

Jelly & Dianne Nale 5/2/04 On Sunday, our friends and fellow breeders, Bill & Dianne Nale of Mattoon, Illinois came down for a visit. Dianne really liked Jelly as you can see in these pictures. I had promised them months ago that they could have first pick of Gabby's females therefore they timed their visit so they could choose between her two female pups and we could have a long visit. Jelly & Dianne Nale 5/2/04

They brought along a recently acquired female Bully that I absolutely love, she's very small, just like Sugar. I wasn't the only one who fell in love, Big John was "head over heels" and we began to suspect the Big Romeo knew something we didn't. Sure enough Bob took a smear which indicated she was coming into heat!!! Bill, Diane & Baby GirlOne of her hind legs is bowed and smaller than the other one but she can run like the wind and doesn't seem to be in any pain. They are taking her to their Vet today for x-rays and a complete physical. Depending upon the diagnosis, they may bring her back so she can be bred to Mini-E. My guess is she sustained a hip injury which was not properly treated and the muscles in her other leg became enlarged while compensating for the injury.

I'm going to bed early tonight!!!

Monday - 5/03/04 - 8:00 AM

I'm doing well but very busy this morning. We had a wonderful visit with friends yesterday so I'll tell you all about it later today. For now I'm "Just Singing In The Rain" - Judy

Now I can tell you, Bob has been great demand for the month of May by legal systems. We call it our 'legal month'. Surprisingly, he was released from his "on call" project when he notified them he had been called for Jury Duty. The Jury Duty notice he received "Warned" him not to tell anyone prior to his reporting to the Circuit Court, therefore I couldn't explain all this before. We've both served Jury Duty in Memphis and were not given this warning so we thought it strange but then decided it's just one of the ways our world has changed in the last few years. We have absolutely no idea how much of his time will be consumed or if he will be sequestered, BUT it is definitely better than him being in California for a month, regarding a CA Justice Department computer system he designed a few years ago!!!! Thank You, Jury Duty!!!!!

Sunday - 5/02/04 - 5:00 AM

Jelly 4/23/04 We've been up and working since 4 AM. It rained most of yesterday, all night and we still have light showers this morning. I can't begin to tell you how it limits our ability to get our chores done. We're having company today, so I'm off to get as much accomplished as possible. Jelly says, "Why don't we just snuggle on the couch!!!" Sorry Jelly, there is too much to do.

Please remember "Our People In Uniform" and those in need of loving kindness. - Judy Jelly 4/23/04

Saturday - 5/01/04 - 10:00 AM

Good Morning! Nothing is wrong here that a little sleep wouldn't fix!!!

We're working hard so I have to get moving. More Later - Judy

"We have one mission in life, and that mission is to love" - Mother Theresa

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 50 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone contend that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love, dogs....smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
