Puppy Gal Welcomes You To
I started this feature for friends and family to answer their
"What's going on?" emails, therefore, I probably tell too much, but you are
welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

6/21/06 Notice: We're tired now!! We have 2 female puppies (as of 7/9)
to place then we are taking some serious "down-time",
during which we will make a decision about continuing to be breeders. Most likely we
will on a very limited basis because we will still have the expense of 'the retired breeders and
rescues'. We would never consider allowing them to leave us.
Friday - 06/30/06 9:30 PM As we say Goodbye to June with it's 90F+ temps, I wonder just how hot it's going to be in July. July brings to mind 'fire crackers' so it just might be as hot as and if so what will August bring us, normally the month for our high temps for the summer. We haven't had rain lately so I've been watering the plants twice a day and that's getting to be a real burden. Bob is staying here with 'our gang' tomorrow while I go shopping for home grown food. The big flea markets are the first weekend of the month and farmers set up along side the road with their produce. I must get up at least by 5 AM to help him with the morning chores before I leave. I would like to be out and about by 7 AM. I'm a little confused about the Independence Day, July 4 celebration for this year, it seems I keep hearing about July 1 cookouts, that's tomorrow. Are people going to be off work Monday & Tuesday?? Or off Tuesday so they are taking a day of vacation on Monday so that they might have a long weekend vacation? Whatever you are doing, ENJOY!!! - Judy Thursday - 06/29/06 4:30 AM Well Gracious, here I am awake at 4:30 AM. Bob woke me up having a bad dream. I think it is his high blood pressure medicine. The last time we were at the doctor's office I mentioned his restless sleep, but the doctor said as we get older our sleep patterns change. Well you can believe I'm determined to get his medicine changed.... I'm tired of not sleeping through the night. Between Bob's restless sleep and puppies needing to be fed, no wonder I'm too exhausted during the day to get much accomplished. I'll post a few pictures later this morning, that I hope will make you smile. - Judy
Angel's Trumpet Seedling Bed
New Flower Bed
A lady from KY called to inquire about Ginger. I told her all about Ginger and then advised that step #1 is filling out the application, told her where to access it etc. It was at this point that the lady asked if the price was firm ... I told her not to bother with filling out the application. I believe she was a little shocked, because I had to repeat myself. When the price is that important to a person, it makes me uncomfortable. AT $1200 Ginger is a steal!! Wednesday - 06/28/06 6:30 AM Bertha, daughter of Carlotta & Jazzman DOB 3/27/06, went to her new home last night. Her new owner is Jason of Nashville, TN.
Tuesday - 06/27/06 4:30 PM It is with a sad heart and tears flowing that I tell you Miss Blossom, daughter of my beloved Sassy T, passed away gently in the bed of the family she owned. My heart goes out to Brenda and her family.

Tuesday - 06/27/06 7:30 AM Yesterday we were up at 6 AM and finally sat down at 8:30 PM. In-between my phone was ringing off the wall. I was inside, went out, forgot to take the phone and there was a message from someone, but I couldn't understand a word they were saying. I think they had been to the dentist. Oh well if it is important they will call back. It seems the only inquiries I'm getting on the other 3 female puppies are from breeders or people wanting to breed and I have declined to place the "girls" with them. I want my babies going into situations where I will feel 100% sure they will be loved and cherished until they go to 'puppy dog heaven'. I shudder to think what might happen otherwise. If I don't find the right homes for them, they can just stay here with us. Hope your day will be good and if it isn't, put on your smile anyway and see if you can't change the world, one smile at a time. - Judy Monday - 06/26/06 3:00 PM Oh My!! I have 101 emails waiting for me to respond. I'm sure there is everything from people sending me updated pictures, wanting to know to use their male as a stud, asking for assistance, etc and probably there will be that one or two that tell me they know more than me because they've had Bullies all their life... never mind that they are are only 20 years old. (lol lol) BUT that's par for this course. If you have one of my babies and your "important" email, pick up the phone and call (731) 376-0635. I'll be outside working but will have the phone in my pocket.- Judy We're having a good time but working very hard. Also I've lost weight, I had gotten a little too chunky so I've been working harder, drinking a lot of water and downsizing my helpings of food. An example would be if we were having hamburgers I would normally eat one normal size, so now I'll cut it in half. Of course Bob is gaining weight because he's been eating the half I leave on my plate. lol lol As of yesterday, he decided to no longer look at my plate when I was finished eating. Miss B gets first 'dibs' on the leftovers. - Judy Sunday - 06/25/06 10:30 AM Getting the below email this morning surely brightened my day. From: "Jess Sent: Sunday, June 25, 2006 8:31 AM Subject: Update Hi Judy,
I wanted to tell you how Sampson'd first visit at his new home to the vet went this
weekend. He did wonderful!!! I was so proud of him getting poked with shots and looked
at - at every angle :) he just sat there so close to my belly he gave me several looks
like "is this almost over?" Our vet loved him and admired how beautiful he is - said
we got a "good one" - we said well we feel he came from the "best" breeder in the most
loving home. He said that makes the difference. That's about it, potty training is going well and he even sits for us for his treats. Course I think Miss Sophie is really helping out with all his training - as when we ask Sophie to do something - Sampson watches and seems to be eager to learn and please. Thanks again for this beautiful loving animal -we are enjoying every minute. I'll get some pics to you again soon. My memory card is once again full - I need to print these pictures out. Take care. - Jess p.s. Thanks for posting about the "stake" in our yard in your journal - I hoped that relieved a lot of your readers. OH, I pray you continue to be breeders - the bulldog world would sure miss your bloodlines! Sunday - 06/25/06 8:30 AM I received deposits on two of the puppies, Miss B's PianoMan and Carlotta's Bertha, this morning. We now only have two puppies available, Miss B's Dee Dee (ready approx 7/23) and Carlotta's Ginger, ready now. I've been extremely busy training the older pups which we are keeping. When we are caring for a young litter it's a 24x7 job and other than take care of the immediate needs of the other pups, not much else gets done. I've been training them to walk with me in and out of the house on potty breaks without being on a lead. There are so many distractions here; strays that came to stay, other Bullies plus the cats, that this is a major training effort. I wouldn't advise this for your environment if you don't have a fenced in yard. I'm off to finish my chores before it gets too hot for me to be outside. Have a peaceful Sunday. - Judy Saturday - 06/24/06 5:15 AM For brunch yesterday, I cooked a platter full of deep fried, since the oil was hot, why not!!! Hushpuppies, batter dipped Pork Chops and onion rings were just the right degree of doneness, golden brown. I've been on a diet and it didn't take much to reached my quota of 'grease' (actually peanut oil). Boomer, stray that came to stay, got really good at catching the leftover Hushpuppies thrown up into the air for him. Reminded me if one version of the origin of the Hushpuppy: Southern hunting or fishing parties in the late 1800's cooked food over an open flame. which would attract the dogs and so the cooks make up batches of cornmeal fritters to feed them thus silence their barking or whining. Evidently someone tried what they were tossing to the dogs and began serving it as side dish to the fried fish. Perhaps the children who accompanied the hunters were too hungry to wait on the food so started sneaking the fritters. How well I remember being attracted to the pan of cornbread my Grandmother cooked for her yarddogs and sat by the backdoor to cool. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend and are making warm memories to last a lifetime. - Judy Friday - 06/23/06 1:30 PM Several weeks ago there was a horrible odor like something was dead under the porch. Oh My, the back porch is almost even with the ground and my mind was bouncing around trying to figure out how in the world we were going to remove whatever had crawled up in there and died. Pulling up boards was going to be a major feat because all the boxes we had moved up from the Memphis house would have to be shifted and there was no more room to move anything, anywhere. I finally decided the best I could do "RIGHT NOW" was to sprinkle lime into the cracks between the boards. Having an acute sense of smell, I actually got down on my hands and knees in an attempt to locate the direct source of the odor, since the wind was blowing around 10 miles per hour I had to get close to the source but I became hopeless confused. No more time to deal with it other priorities arose but two nights later we had one fierce storm and afterward the odor was gone.
I have a flower bed 4 feet from the back porch and while pulling up a few weeds I noticed
what I thought was a dead Iris leaf.... it turned out to be something really weird, round
and connected to a purple spotted bulb kind of thing which was going mushy. I could not
imagine, was it some kind of fungus or something weird I had planted. Then I remembered
the odor and the voodoo lily came to mind. I Googled it and sure enough that's what it
was. Now I wondered who had sent me the bulb as a pratical joke, a really good joke
which was appreciated.Imagine my surprise when I happened upon a note from Betty, a friend who lives in Nashville. It was dated August 2005 and was included with Lily Bulbs and the VooDoo Lily she sent. In the note she described the odor and all. lol lol Betty, Thank You, Thank You. I like for my life to be interesting and the VooDoo Lily is beautiful. For those of you who would not recognize it, it's the odd looking one on the right, open circle branch. - Judy Friday - 06/23/06 8:30 AM We have a storm on the way, I just hope it does make it this far because a good rain will make the flowers grow... well also the grass and weeds but my plants like nothing better than a good drink from Mother Nature. I've had several people ask me about the two available puppies not shown as Available so this morning I took a few pictures to share with you. They are Miss B & Jazzman's puppies, born 5/28. They are from the emergency c-section in Memphis during the Memorial Day weekend. The vet tech told me she had a really tough time reviving the tiny female who didn't survive past the first week. This is the first time the pups were exposed to a camera flash and as you can tell by the look on their face, they weren't too pleased. All our pups are raised in our house in a children's wading pool. The "red" tub turned on it's side is to block the air from the ceiling fan in the next room. I hope these pictures will make you smile. - Judy
Thursday - 06/22/06 6:00 PM We met Jill in Jackson, TN for her to get Gypsy, daughter of Eve & Jazzman. It's 90F with a Heat Index of 99F now, I don't know what the high was but it made me crazy. While we were in town, we went to Lowe's to look around and the below plants had to come home with me. The red one lured me within range and the others appeared along side it. I would never have even gone in that direction if it hadn't been for the red. I didn't need any more plants!!!!!! It must have been the heat normally I would have talked myself out of getting them ... insects love Hibiscus. It's a good thing Bayer makes Rose 2in1, insecticide and fertilizer. It's time to start evening chores. - Judy The first one is of dear sweet Bob about to hand off Gypsy to Jill, the thinner of the two of us.
Stuff I took to Jill and told her to pass it along if she didn't want it.
These are tropical Hibiscus and need to be wintered-over like the Angle's Trumpets (Brugmansia).
Wednesday - 06/21/06 3:30 AM It's 95F with 56% humidity, way too hot to stay outside very long. I have lots to do out there therefore
we're going to take a nap so we can work well into the night after
it cools down some, probably start working around 9 PM and stop at midnight.Eve and Jazzman's Gypsy now has new parents. She is going to live with our friend Jill and her family. They already have two of our "babies". Gypsy is one of the sweetest Bullies ever and you can tell she took after her grandmother, Brooks shown here.
Up and on the run, the high temperature forecast for today is 93 F. Right now it's 69 F with 97% hudimity, making it hard to breath. Lots to do before the sun is high in the sky. Kiss a Bully Good Morning!! - Judy Monday - 06/19/06 12:30 PM Sampson is so very sweet, that it warms my heart just to look at his pictures ... also brought a tear.
Jess wanted me to assure you the "stake out" isn't for Sampson, it's to use with Sophie so she won't sneak out of the yard when it's full of children. Sampson loves to play with the long lead. Monday - 06/19/06 9:30 AM Up with puppies in the middle of the night, I couldn't go back to sleep for a long time, so, Oh My, I just woke up. Such wasted time when the temperature was lower, now it's HOT!! I must dash about getting chores completed before it's too hot for me to be outside. I hope your week starts out good and stays that way. - Judy Sunday - 06/18/06 9:30 AM Happy Father's Day
