The E-Mail Function has been disconnected due to the unbelievable number of Spams and Scams. If you need to speak to me please call (731) 376-0635 between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM CST. This is a private residence, we are not a company. This telephone number is on the State of Tennessee and Federal NO CALL lists for telemarketers.

Please do not call me in reference to when we will have available puppies, I will post that information on the website when the time is appropriate. Be polite and you will receive same in return, but if you are rude (don't call me Judy if you refer to yourself as Mr. or Mrs. I'm not beneath you in life's pecking order) or ask explicate sexual questions about breeding, I'll say goodbye and hang up the telephone.

"Re-fried Eggplant For Breakfast??!!" Saturday - Auguest 1, 2009 7:30 AM

No lie, that is what we ate for breakfast. I refried it, sprinkled it with McCormick Gourmet Natural sea salt infused with Mediterranean spices, including garlic, basil, oregano, lemon peel, red bell pepper and a hint of red pepper heat, plus Parmesan cheese. What a way to go for breakfast. (http://www.mccormickgourmet.com/gcproductdetail.cfm?id=12878) We also nibbled on fresh cherries.

The forecast is a high of 86° F with a low of 70° F tonight. Thunder Storms are a'coming and there is an 80% chance of precipitation. I'm going back to bed. lol lol Not hardly, I've got too much to do. I've already been out in the flower beds pulling up weeds.- Judy

"Heartache" Friday - July 31, 2009 Noon

It was crazy around here yesterday ... there was a terrible storm which contained tornadoes moving through the area, a couple touched down in upper Mississippi and at least one in Memphis. During the worst of these I went out to check on the "strays that came to stay" and Fluffy was missing. Out in the rain we went searching for her. My little heart was beating wildly I was afraid she had been struck by lightening. She never, ever leaves the back porch, her den and the two male strays during bad weather. We looked for her again during a break between storms. Finally when Bob was walking the Bullies, she came running to him, soaking wet and scared. We have no idea where she had been. She was so upset I had to really tempt her with chicken. A small bowl later and she was doing better, but was hid way back in their "den".

Then came the Kate scare .. she was in her crate and wouldn't respond to us. Bob got in the crate with her to take her temperature, check her breathing, heartbeat etc. Outwardly there were no signs of discomfort or illness. I was so fearful that she would pass away in the middle of the night. Along about 1 o'clock she started barking, the heifer wanted food and water but sent out a "no thank you" in regard to going out to potty. It was about that time I figured out when she wasn't responsive earlier it was because she was exhausted. She had kept us awake for 3 nights running and "she was tired - leave me alone". The brat!! Now this morning Jeb is acting "passed out" and when I made him get up to go outside, he told me it was Kate's fault she wasn't allowing any of them to sleep.

Along about 2 o'clock all of this and Juliet dying (the most wonderful of Bullies) I got out of bed and started upchucking. My body's way of dealing with stress. Unfortunately, I hadn't eaten supper so it was a retched affair (little perverted humor). I'm getting better as the day progresses, but it takes time. - Judy

"Heartache" Thursday - July 30, 2009 10:30 AM

Mama Judy's beloved Juliet passed away in her sleep last night. There was no warning whatsoever. She was fine and being her usual prissy butt self yesterday. Kate, her mother, whom I'm expecting to pass away because she's so dang old is fine as a fiddle. Matter of fact she kept us awake most of the night wanting this, that and the other. She ate 2 cans of dog food and went out to check on the "strays that came to stay" 3 times. I was about ready to just leave her out there with them. Maybe she was trying to tell us about Juliet. Sorry to ramble .... we're in shock over Juliet.

"Summer Bounty" Tuesday - July 28, 2009 5:30 PM

Batter dipped and deep fried eggplant .... actually there are some of us who need "oil" added to their diets. Mercy I cooked up a big batch of eggplant last night ... we ate until I thought we were going to pop. There were leftovers, what to do with them I don't know, limp fried eggplant doesn't sound good at all. Maybe I'll plop them into a casserole dish, add pasta sauce, cheese, etc and bake them.

I met Mildred's mother last night .. oh what a delight. A straight forward lady who thought my Jeb was pretty. With that you know she won my heart. - Judy

"Pass-A-Long Box" Monday - July 27, 2009 4:30 PM

I'm in the process of fixin' two Pass-A-Long Boxes. The first one is going to my friend Mildred. I hated to keep on asking her "do you want" so I asked if I could just give her a box of "things" She said sure, she'd take out what she wanted and pass the box along. With that interchange an idea was born. Into the box I'll put things I don't need or want but that are too good to throw away, or if I just have a lot of something and am willing to share. Right now I'm aiming to add books I've read, American Lotus seeds, dog watering faucet bibs, tin canisters once filled with cookies or such .... oops I have to get a bigger box.

It would be great to gently suggest anyone who gets the box to feel free to add to it, or if taking out an item and they would like more of the same thing, to let the person who put it in know so they will be sure the save them for the person. That would mean that anyone adding to the box would need to attach their name and phone number to the item.

Wanting more of something, for instance I know a fellow gardener who joined a recycle group just so she could get the plastic margarine tubs, etc being thrown away. She raises African Violets, tons of African Violets and uses these tubs in various ways. So we just never know what we are tossing that someone else would like.

Speaking of plastic items being tossing ....... winter sowing of seeds requires a plastic container of some type, it creates a mini-greenhouse for the seeds. If you are crazy about growing from seeds you'll need a lot of 2 or 3 liter drink bottles, plastic milk jugs etc. Winter Sowing website - www.wintersown.org/wseo1/How_to_Winter_Sow.html

With all this thinking I suddenly realized I would like to know if someone had a "wish list" ... my mind jumped to creating a community forum and the next thought was - I'm getting in too deep, just fix the box and pass it along. lol lol - Judy

Lunch -
Salad (leaf lettuce, tomatoes, sweet onions, cucumbers) Asagio Peppercorn Dressing
Peaches, fresh sliced
Corn on the Cob (microwaved - cut off tassel leaving other shucks, 3 minutes on high)

Supper -
Ham Egg Foo Yung (homemade, it's easy) topped with leftover veal gravy stashed in the freezer for just this type occasion.

Since I had the skillet hot I was aiming to fry up the remainder of the eggplants I bought at the Jackson Farmer's Market, but ... I looked around at Bob who was eating almost as fast as I could cook and decided he might bust if I kept on cookin'. lol lol

"Judy's Journal" Sunday - July 26, 2009 10:00 AM

The "Mushmelon" is wonderful!!! I wish I had taken a picture of it before I started hacking and slicing. I scooped out the seeds from both halves carefully placing them in a plastic grocery bag and then into the trash since I didn't want them producing vines in my compost pile. I then cut it in to length wise sections which I could easily handle to peel and then cut into bite size pieces. We gorged ourselves and had 2 gallon ziploc bags left to put in the refrigerator for later. (Mildred I'm wondering if the seeds will produce viable fruit next year?? Should I dig them out of the trash?) This melon was as big as a medium size watermelon. I'm guessing it weighed 20-25 lbs because it was a strain for me to pick it up and I'm use to lifting critters. I bought it at the Farmer's Market in Jackson, TN and was told it came from Missouri. After I thought about it, that could mean it was raised in Mexico, shipped to a hub in MO and the remainder of the load was on it's way to Chicago, IL GRAB 'EM Chicago they are great!!)

I highly recommend the "elRio" brand. www.elriofoods.com/products.htm I've never been disappointed with any of their products. As with all seasoning mixes theirs are high in sodium therefore don't get addicted ... moderation in all things.

I've been awake since 3:45 AM with a headache and high blood pressure, which I normally do not have. Oh Lordy, I bet anything it was the raw oysters I had for breakfast yesterday. It was a day of extravagant eating which I normally don't do. I was unable to eat last week so I think my body was trying to get restocked. Let's see there were raw oysters, watermelon and plums galore and then the food binge ended last night around 7 o'clock with homemade Mexican wraps ... highly seasoned ground sirloin, refried beans (elRio all natural), salsa (Pace's Pico De Gallo) and mild jalapeno peppers. Hmmm .... there's a giant "Mushmelon" with my name on it, waiting downstairs. lol lol - Judy

The blooms begin to open as the sun goes down and by 8 PM they have fully peaked, remaining that way until the morning sun melts the bloom away. Then the seed pods begin to grow. Each pod contains many seeds, I'm guessing 50-100 depending upon the size of the plant/pod.

"Wish We Had Been On Vacation" Saturday - July 25, 2009 10:00 AM

I wish we had been on vacation but unfortunately we were taken' care of health issues for both of us. I can handle my own but when it comes to Bob I'm not so brave. Coupled with our health issues, we have two people who are wanting to "come back to the fold", they tugged at our hearts but our energies in reference to them have been depleted. The hardest thing I've ever had to do was to tell a person I love that they have to stay at arms length. You don't want the details but trust me when I say "I like to have" had a nervous breakdown being sick and dealing with all that surfaced in the last 14 days.

Meanwhile, I'm being adventurous here when I say .... I'm revving up to 3rd gear. - Judy

"Back In My Younger Years!!" Monday - July 13, 2009 10:00 AM

Back in my younger years I was a volunteer for juvenile court. Whatever was needed I did. I was working a case of child abuse, just being a friend to the child. Well she ups and walks away and has to be found. The sheriff gets word of where she is and called me. I went downtown to get the address and directions and in the process they insist I take along a sherrif's deputy since it's an isolated location out in the country. I take him with me but there is no way I'm gonna be knocking on a door with him standing beside me. I parked about 100 yards from the front door and walk up the path toward the house. DANG out come 4 full grown men with big ole chains in their hands. My knees start to shaking since I'm fairly certain I'm going to meet my maker. All of a sudden I'm in the run mode but I can't remember where in the devil I put my car keys. About the time I ask what they had in their hands, like I didn't know, my right hand is rummaging in my shoulder hung purse in an attempt to find those dang keys. The 4 full grown men responded to my question by saying "logging chains" to which I replied, I guess you better put them on the ground before someone gets hurt .... meaning my stupid behind. Low and behold they laid them down. Then we get down to business. I told them I was looking for the girl and I needed her to call me. I said just tell her to call Aunt Judy (that's what all the kids called me). I turned around and headed toward my car. The sheriff's deputy was outside the car, pistol drawn and hand braced on the top of my car. First off he wanted to know what I told them to make them lay the chains on the ground. I told him. I said someone might get hurt meaning ME. Then he wanted to know why I was rummaging in my purse. I told him I couldn't remember where the dang keys were. The deputy said they must have thought I had a gun in my purse. I told him never would I have a gun, cause if I did I would probably end up shooting myself in the foot.

"Storming Monday!!" Monday - July 13, 2009 3:40 AM

Storming woke me up ... it appears to be a real "bug-a-boo" coming thru here. I'm going back to sleep. Last night Mildred called and assured me she would pierce the "boils" so if I can't pierce them tomorrow, I'm going to be in her driveway waiting for her to get off work tomorrow afternoon. I'm just a bit crazy here. - Judy

"Another Down Day!!" Sunday - July 12, 2009 8:00 AM

Whatever it was that bit the dickens out of me had a friend who's bite results in a boil blister type thing. They are driving me crazy itching and they are many layers under the skin. As soon as they are nearer to the surface I'll stick a needle in them so the poison can leak out but right now I can't ... Bob says there is no way he's going to pierce them.

That dang Ruckus is full of himself!!! When I let him out he makes a beeline to a pen which has a canvas covering on 3 sides and top to block the sun. He acts like a fool attacking the canvas. I went out there yesterday with heavy duty shears and trimmed off the part he could get to but he still wanted to roughhouse with what was left although he couldn't reach it. I told Bob maybe it was time to have him neutered since there is no way he will ever be used as a stud.

I'm going to take some medicine and go back to bed. Maybe I can sleep through this. - Judy

PS I was sent a picture of the white German Shepherd to Bob's email address but Bob won't let me look at it. He said I had enough on my plate at present and the picture is very disturbing.

"Down Day!!" Saturday - July 11, 2009 9:30 AM

We were up and working hard at 5:30 AM, I've finished what morning "must do" chores that I could, Bob is finishing up the last of the list. When he's finished we're going back to bed!!! I kept waking myself up last night clawing at my rash, bites or whatever. Some of them are infected so I'm going to take some antibiotics and go back to bed, hopefully to sleep until at least Noon. Then I have to get up to turn on the misters for the Angel's Trumpets. If they go all the way limp the leaves will die and fall off the plants.

Speaking of Angel's Trumpets, when Mildred was over the other day we walked pass a plant and laying on the ground was a very small twig that was all wilted. I suppose a blast from the sprinkler blocked it off the plant. I picked it up and told her, "This is my problem, I can't stand to see broken limbs, etc just die, I have to stick them in soil or water and presto there's another plant." She looked at me like I was crazy if I thought she believed I could root that little wilted twig. So I stripped off the larger leaves and stuck it in the raised bed soil. She responded by saying, if it grew into a plant she would definitely have to come back to see it. Well .... some kind of leafhopper tried to eat it and it's surely had a hard way to go but it's still alive. Yesterday she came over to see the Red Hardy Hibiscus in bloom, I called her attention to the twig and she said maybe Bob was right when he said I could root a dead stick. Of course then Bob had to start telling tales of me going online, printing a picture of a plant I wanted and sticking it in the ground. lol lol

Just a reminder, if you don't like the life you are living you have two choices ... first if all seems well and you feel sure you should be happy with the life you have, put a smile on your face and pretend your life is wonderful. Pretend and it will come true. Second if there are elements in your life that will forever prevent you from being happy, make changes so that your smile is a true reflection of what you feel. You only live once so make the best of every day. - Judy

"Got Water - Well Running!!" Friday - July 10, 2009 8:30 PM

First thing this morning, Bob tried once again to reset the well water pump and it worked!! I called the well company promptly at 8 AM told them the situation and asked for a service person to come check it out. They arrived around 11 AM, replaced the pressure switch and we're good to go. One problem solved.

We are dealing with some very serious issues and would appreciate your prayers. I feel prayers to the Good Lord "call his attention" to the situation for his consideration. How else can we explain those that seemingly go unanswered. (Please be assured that the issues are not between Bob and I. We're bonded for forever!!! Nor does it have anything to do with the critters.)

Get Ready ....... Upcoming will be a fund raiser and search for a new forever home for a white German Shepherd who has skin and eye issues. He needs to go to Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine for a full evaluation and hopefully resolution of these problems. Presently he is in a "no kill" shelter in Jackson, MS but with the economy the way it is they are low on funds. In his present state he will not be adopted which is so sad because White German Shepherds are so very smart.

We have two doe hanging around the "pasture area". They are eating the new sprouts of the freshly mowed grass. One of the doe only has 3 legs, I don't even want to think that I might be the cause of her losing one (I asked a neighbor to "get rid" of the deer during hunting season). Gosh I feel awful but she has adapted. The 3 strays that came to stay were chasing her this afternoon ... they are not like Melanie who obeys commands instantly. The only way I could get them to stop was by yellin' out "Kitty, Kitty" making them think the cats were getting "special food" so they came running wanting their fair share.

"Whew!!!" Thursday - July 9, 2009 7:30 PM

You ever have one of those times, when everything just seems to go wrong, well that's how it is around here and the icing on the cake is the NO WATER!!! I think the pump motor went out. It was 4:47 PM when I called and left a message that I was the one with all the critters and plants therefore would appreciate service as soon as possible. Wilson Well Company is one of the best in the business and I sure hope they will take care of our needs tomorrow, especially since the forecast for the next few days is a high of 94 F. Meanwhile the Angel Trumpets are shouting they will need misting by Noon tomorrow, the dirty clothes baskets are doing the "I heard it through the grape vine" dance and the Bullies are screaming I have to have WATER, lots and lots of water!!

I'm "broken out" almost head to toe with little itchy bumps. Chiggers??? It's not confined to areas of the body where clothes fit tight, so I guess not. Allergic reaction? We went to Tupelo, MS today for dog food but only stopped at Sam's, Wal-Mart and the Corinth MS Co-Op. Therefore doubtful there was anything I came into contact with that caused an allergic reaction. Heat rash?? Possible cause I've been working like a crazy woman outside and Lord knows it was uncomfortably hot getting in and out of the van while getting supplies. Maybe a case of nerves since there are situations WORSE than "no water" happening at present? I have no idea but I'm "itching like a man on a fuzzy tree".

Last night, Mildred called and wanted to come over to get the floating aquatic plants I had promised her ... I was determined to get her to restart her goldfish pool. I was upstairs in the bedroom, minus clothes trying to cool down in front of the a/c, but told her to come ahead on. I dressed and then met her in the "flower garden". Larry, her husband and Bob chatted, while Mildred and I gathered up plants. I'm afraid I sent more home with her than she needed but better too many than not enough. I told her not to worry about them, if they didn't make it, I had plenty more. Boy do I. lol lol

Take care, go with the flow and believe most negative happenings will turn out well. Scratch ... scratch... scratch - Judy

"Whew!!!" Wednesday - July 8, 2009 7:00 PM

I "had to" stop working but poor Bob volunteered do the night chores, walk the critters and feed them. We were up and working at 6 AM, breakfast was just coffee so we totally "pigged out" when we stopped for a big Noon lunch of BBQ pork, BBQ beans and cole slaw. For supper we had watermelon. lol lol Still too stuffed from lunch and the chilled watermelon really cooled us off after being out in the heat working all afternoon. I follow the shade doing chores but even at that I'm getting a tan which I don't particularly want.

I'm having a problem with the critters not wanting to stay outside very long at all. They take care of their business hurriedly and then want back in the house. It is necessary for them to be out in the early morning for a few minutes so their bodies can soak up the sun and manufacture vitamin D, which is especially essential for their skin. They are wanting to be under our coattails all the time, afraid they will miss out on a treat I suppose. This morning, the temperature was only 68 F or so we put them in outside dog runs for about 2 hours. I was in and out of the house, never more than 15 feet from them so I could keep a close watch. Jeb was the only one who wanted to sit and soak up the sun. The little stinker sat in the gravel driveway not too far from the porch and dozed. lol lol

"Oh Poo, Cutest Little Fawn" Tuesday - July 7, 2009 7:30 PM

I'm a sucker for a baby anything and the tiny, tiny Fawn who was looking at me from 60 or so feet away melted my heart. I didn't see a mother and began to wonder if it was an orphan. Later, I arrived where Bob was working, just in time to call to Melanie to stop her from chasing it. Melanie is a good girl she immediately did an about face and came to me although she had been at least 80 feet from me and in full charge mode when I first called. I've never seen another dog obey a command that quickly, especially with their target in sight. Melanie was in the process of running to me, when out of the woods popped a grown doe determined to run interference for the fawn. With the situation resolved the doe began to graze on tender young sprouts of grass.

"Busy, Busy" Tuesday - July 7, 2009 10:30 AM

Yesterday was spent gathering up supplies for the temporary fence and other projects. I figure the temporary fences can be used for all sorts of things. Most likely we'll put one up to keep the deer out of the lily beds in the Fall. It's during the extreme dry periods that they come looking for Lily Salad, although on Sunday we had a single pregnant female in the yard area about 50 feet away from the outside dog runs , I think she was looking for leftover food from the Bullies who had been out the evening before and earlier that morning ... BUT maybe she was just checking to see if any of the tomatoes were ripe, they go will with Lily salad. lol lol

There is always "something" wrong with me and usually it's weird. I think I'm just about over this Gouty Arthritis episode after spending most of two days in bed. I only did the "must do chores". I believe it was triggered by working too hard and becoming dehydrated .... I don't have any sense when I start out on one of my 3rd gear working binges. As with everything that happens in life, I do believe I learned something from the last 4 days.

Have a wonderful day and may you be BLESSED for the kindness you show others. - Judy

PS The doctor's office called this morning. They had received the results of Bob's battery of tests and just wanted him to know that there were absolutely no problems!!!!! Bob asked if he was going to live to be 102? The nurse replied according to the test results he was going to live a long, long time.

Angel hair pasta with a garlic, butter, olive oil, basil pine nut pesto ... what a delight!! Topped off with a desert of peeled and sliced Mangoes. I'm all over the world in my eating habits. Mostly I avoid traditional American sandwich bread and opt for flat bread and tortillas. We don't drink sodas, opting for fruit juice or slushy water. Occasionally, I'll cook Bob a pie or a cake, I seldom eat anything sweet. What do you make of a person who had rather have another hepin' of vegetables instead of a bowl of ice cream???!!! - Judy

"Another Lazy Day" Sunday - July 5, 2009 9:00 AM

I'm planning for another lazy day, well as lazy as it can be around here with so many "have to do things". It finally rained, I'm guessing a quarter of an inch, but that's better than no rain. Maybe now my plants will go into a growing spurt. Only problem is so will the grass and weeds. I'm going to "round up" the whole lot ... oops that will mean come Fall when it rains we'll just have a muddy mess. The roots of the grass and weeds growing now prevent that. I hate grass and I hate weeds ... what to do, what to do. Wonder how much that artificial turf is ... not an option due to critter poop. Well I have this ground cover that's a slow grower but when it takes over an area it kills out grass, weeds and all other plants. I think maybe it is Ajuga. Maybe I'll have to take a closer look at spreading it around. Trouble is, I don't know where it came from to start with but it's in an area that was once part of my flower bed. I didn't particularly like what was growing there before it took over so I've just "let her grow". Another option is my invasive flowering plant, she kills out all other plants also. Dang she attracts bees and the critters could get stung. I wonder how much a dump truck load of mulch is and how many truck loads it would take to completely cover the area around the house. Last time I brought in a load of rotten saw dust, it contained several different varieties of small snakes. Would truck loads of mulch have the same possibility? That was back when Mr Cat was young and liked to worry them to death, he's not much interested now, except for whatever that critter was he killed and was such a grump about a couple of weeks ago. We have little striped lizards running around everywhere and he doesn't pay any attention to them now, use to he would at least pounce on them.

I hope my political rant from yesterday didn't offend anyone. I wrote another last night but removed it because it was about a controversial topic and I've tried very hard not to cross over into politics, religion or other "hot" controversial topics in my postings.

Have fun today, kiss your loved ones and hug your fur critters for we do not know what tomorrow will bring. - Judy

"Independence Day, 4th of July" Saturday - July 4, 2009 7:30 PM

We didn't hoop and holler it up, we lazed out. Poor Bob was so thankful just to be able to sit and watch a DVD while I laid in bed reading. My book was a fictional murder mystery with the main character being Eleanor Roosevelt, her son was the author. Well poo, I spotted the murderer after reading the first few pages but read on because the style of writing was to my likin'.

I have a large collection of sea shells. (Mildred know anyone who would love a banana box full of sea shells? Children love sea shells and it would be great to be able to give them to a grammar school teacher for her room display.) For those of you who do not know Mildred ... if she doesn't know a person within the surrounding 6 counties, her brother Jay probably does. lol lol

I'm going to get political .... that fool Cap & Trade bill contains language which prevents the selling of a home unless it is certified to be energy efficient ... "the rules are to be defined later". {Now why in the world would any representative approve a bill part of which was to be defined later. Are they going to get to vote on the "defined later" part. If so why was it included in this bill} All I got to say is "kiss my grits', does this mean Grandma Bessy's house can't be sold to some poor soul in need of shelter because it was built in the 50's before "energy efficient" was born????? Think about this, it staggers the imagination. Low income housing just took a major bust and the housing resell market will take a nose dive. What are those folks in Washington trying to do??? Reminds me of that Hollywood celebrity who said we all should be limited to one sheet of toilet paper ... was she on drugs or what??? Folks, we live in the real world where and I'm telling you those water saving toilets most times have to be flushed two or three times to get the poop down the drain especially if the household is full of menfolks. Also energy efficient washers don't get the really dirty clothes clean, so a second wash is necessary. Care to define energy efficient??? I suppose if you work in an office or otherwise don't work hard enough work up a sweat and eat mostly lettuce these products would suit your needs but as I said "we live in the real world" where critters and little kids play in mud puddles and grown folks work hard enough to get their clothes really dirty.

Well that is my rant for today. - Judy

"Hard At Work" Friday - July 3, 2009 8:45 PM

Work started at 6 AM. Alvin, the young man who calls when he needs work, came today and around 8 o'clock my friend Mildred came over. I had some plants and other "stuff" for her. She very graciously offered to help me work in the flower beds but I was too exhausted from working hard yesterday, then I turn around and work like a dog with Alvin. I don't think Mildred could stand all the weeds in the Lily raised bed, so she got in it and pull out a ton of weeds. I really did appreciate her doing it because I can't get into the bed due to my gimpy foot/leg. After she left, Alvin and I removed all the lower limbs of 12 or so trees, thankfully they had been trimmed 2 years ago so the job wasn't as bad as it could have been. My part was, to grab "holt" of the any limbs I could reach and pull them down to earth as far as I could so he could reach more to cut off. We planted the "ditch lilies" that Bob had dug up for me out of a ditch longside the road several days ago. I pointed out small trees to be cut down and Alvin did the cutting. We trimmed up Oriental Wisteria (Anyone want cuttings? It's invasive but not like the American variety. You could keep it in a pot so it wouldn't get out of hand. You would have to remember to use a saucer under the pot to keep roots from spreading via the drain holes.) By this time I was hot and tired, Bob arrived back home from running errands and we were proud to be able to sit down for lunch. A jug of ice water and a ham sandwich sure tasted good.

After the lunch break we experimented with a "Judy designed" portable fence. It worked out well so we're going to get enough material to finish the project.

Funny thing ... I noticed a plant in my fish pool on which the blooms looked ragged. I even mentioned to Mildred not to pot her's up like mine were because I thought it was suffering. After Mildred left I went to see if I could lift the pot, but before I did so I rubbed my fingers down a poor bloom to see if it had insects, it wasn't dying it was "spent" and there were bunches of tiny plants growing from the seeds which the bloom produced. It surely made me laugh. (Mildred - more seeds, more plants, just what I need. lol lol)

I hope y'all have a good 4th of July weekend. - Judy

"Compact Environment" Wednesday - July 2, 2009 6:00 PM

I'm a "clutter" person. I collect things that are interesting, like cobalt blue salt & pepper shakers, but they belong in someone's "Salt & Pepper Shaker Collection" not in the back of my shelf in the pantry and needless to say the "Bunny" salt and pepper set needs to be there also. Problem is I just do not know anyone who would appreciate them. I have too much stuff but am reluctant to depart with same unless I encounter someone who would truly "love/appreciate" the stuff. - Judy

"The Internet Listings Are Getting Crazy" Tuesday - July 1, 2009 8:30 PM

Some how or other Google has me listed as a groomer so I'm now getting telephone calls from people wanting to make an appointment to get their dog groomed. lol lol It was probably the webpage I have on PuppyGal about grooming Bullies. Then I found out a Landscape Directory (www.landscapedirectory.org)has me (Dogwood Pond) listed under Lawn & Garden Services, if only people could see my lack of a lawn, my flower beds overflowing and my attitude of "just poke it in the ground". No wonder I'm getting weird junk mail. These crazy phone calls are just too much ... but it is kinda funny that Google's listing is so messed up and I have no idea how that Landscape Directory got their information. lol lol

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 55 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone content that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love, dogs....smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
