Puppy Gal Welcomes You To
Judy's Journal....

I started this feature for friends and family to answer their "What's going on?" emails,
therefore, I probably tell too much,
but you are welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

"Life is too short to deal with ugly acting people!"

Judy & Jeb, The Champ - 7/18/03!

Sunday - 02/01/04 - 6:00 AM CST

As we travel through this time span known as life, sooner or later we all face tragedy and will need encouragement to maintain our dignity and fight to survive. Just to be aware that other people know what we are facing and have sympathy for us, helps to nourish our soul and give us the strength to endure.

Today, if you know anyone who is struggling, please let them know that they are in your thoughts and prayers. - Judy

I've been up for hours, searching the Internet for information on various subjects. I use to spend hours at the library doing this but now I can do it in my nightgown!!!

Today is going to be very busy but later, I hope to post updated pictures of Amber's Baby Ruth. Steve & Glenda, who are neighbors, stopped in with her late yesterday afternoon. She is beautiful, but definitely had a superior air about her!!!

I've got to run, puppies are calling... Judy

Jodi who bought Lucy - Sleepy & Pepper's Pup, was released from the hospital yesterday and just about the first thing she did was to take new pictures:

Friday - 1/30/04 - Noon CST

We've been BUSY!!! We are in the process of breeding 4 females. Our normal rate of conception is 1 out of 3 so we're hoping for at least one litter. Each of these girls has made 4 trips to the Vet for an AI. Each trip takes about 2 hours, some longer if the Vet is busy. Drive time alone is 1 1/2 hours per trip. So far we've spent about $800 on these AI's. If we only have one litter our Vet expenses, including the c-section, will just about equal the selling price of a puppy.

In regard to the virus, I was right it was on Bob's computer. Poor Bob is so tired from all we've had to do, plus taking care of Jelly Roll, that he's got a grouchy frown on his face. The Bullies and I decided we best be GOOD, but you know that's impossible for any of us!!

Martha Michael & Carmen West came this morning to get Martha, Sleepy & Pepper's Pup. You should have seen her loving on Michael. It was if she knew who's "baby" she was going to be and snuggled right up under his chin, afterward she fell asleep in his arms and just didn't want anything more to do with the rest of us!! Little Brat!!!

I received the most heart-rending telephone call today. It was from a lady, Stacie Clifton, who got one of our 1999 CKC puppies, Lucy now named Delilah. She has had a stroke and is in kidney failure. We both cried as she told me. I told her I agreed with her vet that it was time to let Lilah go to Puppy Dog Heaven. Please say a prayer for the Cliftons, they are hurting so bad.

(Lucy is the second of our CKC Bullies living in the Atlanta area that has had kidney failure within the last year. I don't know if that means anything or not, but we've had no reports of any of our other Bullies having suffered from this and I still have both of the Bully Mothers, who are old but in excellent health. Wolfie is Lucy's father. He is 10 years old and other than arthritis, he is in very good health. The father to the other pup was PepperJack and he's still so healthy at the ripe old age of 9, that he was able to sire a litter of puppies born to Sleepy!!)

Jodi, who came to pick up Lucy this past weekend, didn't respond to any of my emails asking how Lucy was doing, etc. so I became concerned. Finally, last night I was able to speak with her husband Michael. Jodi went back into the hospital on Monday and was still there as of last night. Bless Her Heart!!! If you are a praying person, please say one for Jodi, she has a long list of health issues.

The owners of Precious have been told their apartment lease will not be renewed because the owner doesn't want a dog in the building, although several other people have cats. They would never consider giving her up so they will have to start looking of a new apartment soon, since they live in NYC.

Miss Sophia owned by the Lotters of Wisconsin, has what they believe is a Cherry Eye. They are sending close-up pictures this afternoon. Also she has what might be a bit of congestion so I told them to give her a tiny part of a mild antihistamine until she goes to the Vet on Monday.

I'm behind in my chores, so I best get to working. Life will leave me behind, if I sit on my behind. (lol lol) - Judy

Wednesday - 1/28/04 - 7:30 AM CST

We've gotten the following official notification of the virus:

A new virus came out this week that is affecting many of our customers. The virus arrives in an email attachment as a .zip file. It targets a domain name and makes up fake email addresses from that domain. It then sends itself to any address it finds on the infected computer as well as making up fake addresses "spoofs" to send to and to send from.

Here is what Symantec has to say about the new virus threat:

"W32.Novarg.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that arrives as an attachment with the file extension .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip.

When a computer is infected, the worm will set up a backdoor into the system by opening TCP ports 3127 through 3198, which can potentially allow an attacker to connect to the computer and use it as a proxy to gain access to its network resources.

In addition, the backdoor can download and execute arbitrary files.

The worm will perform a Denial of Service (DoS) starting on February 1, 2004. It also has a trigger date to stop spreading on February 12, 2004."

Tuesday - 1/27/04 - 6:30 PM CST

Warning: Computer Virus Using My Email Addresses, Do Not Open Any Files Attached From Either Of My Addresses (PuppyGal@Earthlink.net or Bulliegirl@Earthlink.net), unless I specifically tell you there are pictures attached. Please do not send me attachments unless it is a picture(s)of a Bully. All other emails with attachments will be deleted, prior to coming into my computer.

Well, I haven't gotten around to taking "down-time" yet!!! I've been busy trying to fix my computer. I've tried everything I know to do and I've now come to the conclusion that it's Bob's computer, which controls our network. I finally got some of the pictures of Sleepy's Puppies uploaded, but in the process lost over half of them so I'll have to try to take more tomorrow. I tell you, it didn't take long at all, messing with my computer, for that smile to be wiped right off my face.

Jodi's husband Michael called Monday night at 9 CST to tell me they had finally gotten home, safe and sound. Jodi had high hopes of driving straight through but got so tired, having just gotten out of the hospital, that they had to spend the night in a motel. Her 15 year old daughter has been dressing Lucy up like a baby and they took my suggestion of buying her a pacifier. Aren't these pictures just adorable!!!

There are indications that my computer may be about to fail. If so, it may take a few days to get things back on track. I'm busy "backing up on disk" the more recent information.

Jelly Roll's Struggle To Survive Update - Click Here!!

Yesterday afternoon Jodi was released from the hospital so I took Lucy, Sleepy & Pepper's puppy, to them in Jackson. I took a bedspread, pillow, night gown and house coat along so Jodi could curl up in the back seat with Lucy on the return trip which I surely hope is uneventful. Jeb went with me for show and tell since he is Lucy's half-brother but I don't think he made a good impression. They also had their female Pek with them and Jeb, having a severe hair fetish, showed way too much interest in her!!!

Next, Jeb and I went to PetSmart to see what they had on sale. He was a big hit and really liked seeing all his pointy nosed kin, until an American Pitbull (??) started snapping at him. Jeb just does NOT get excited about such things, so his response was to look at the dog like it had lost his mind. Our next stop was Sam's Club for Purina Puppy Chow where I saved about $25 compared to the PetSmart price. Jeb slept in a crate in the back of the van while I was gone, but when I pulled up to the front door for a young man to load my 375 pounds of Puppy Chow, a crowd formed blocking the entrance and exit with children wanting to touch the "puppy". Jeb's loves this part and really was a ham. (lol lol lol) If I had time I would take him to nursing homes and children's hospitals so he could make everyone smile.

I have to catch up on my chores today and try to get a little "down time". - Judy

Saturday - 01/24/04 - 8:00 AM CST

For your viewing pleasure, pictures of Sophia (Amber & King Bizkit's Carmello) with her new big brother Dayton:

Goodness, I went to see Jodi, from NY, in the hospital last night, poor woman has an severe intestinal blockage. I believe I'm right when I say the doctors are attempting to resolve the problem without surgery since her other health conditions make surgery very risky. She has tubes running everywhere and is being monitored constantly. Her release depends upon resolving the condition therefore the doctors will not venture a guess. We had a nice, long visit and since I couldn't take Lucy (the pup she is getting),I took her a stuffed "bully" to cuddle with meanwhile. Jodi jokes about how nice everyone "down here is being to the Yank"!! It might have been my imagination but I could swear her speech was slowing down. It was probably just the drugs, but I'll be alert during today's visit for a "ya'll" to slip out when she's talking.

I didn't get home until Midnight, so Bob let me sleep in this morning. He had taken care of the pups, etc. and had already gone to the vet's when I woke up. He is so very good to me. When I tell him how much I appreciate his kindness, he says it's in repayment for all I do for him ... it can't get better than that!!

Got to run cook breakfast so it will be ready when he gets back home. Sausage, fresh ground at the local butcher shop, homemade biscuits and fried eggs. He will of course add a large helping of hot, hot pepper relish to the top of those eggs!!

Friday - 01/23/04 - 9:00 AM CST

Life has certainly gotten interesting in the last 24 hours!!!

1 ) A person driving down from NY to get one of our puppies, ended up having an emergency surgical procedure preformed in Jackson, TN. I'm determined to drive the 3 hour round trip sometime today to visit, can you imagine being in the hospital in a strange city, 1200 miles from home.

2) Bob drove 15 hours yesterday, getting in at 2:30 this morning, to get Lisa Marie, daughter or Kate & Elvis. She is very pretty but since she has been fed Science Diet, she is way too thin. Science Diet does not a pretty Bully make. Not to worry we'll have her beefed up in no time at all.

Bob is going to bed, meanwhile I have 3 or 4 trips to make to the vet's office, breeding three females and having dew claws removed from puppies. Each one of these will take 2-3 hours so I have to get on the road.

Make today a day to remember!!! - Judy

This is a must read for anyone who has a "head strong" Bully pup or if they are planning on getting a pup!!! Bringing Up Sophia:

From: Trudy Lotter
Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 1:15 PM
Just thought I'd give you another update on Sophia. She is the most adorable dog. Bulldog puppies are amazingly endearing. Which is a good thing, because she has ATTITUDE!

We are already having to firmly establish Alpha with her. She is quite precocious. She can SCREAM like a banshee when you don't pay attention to her! She was a tyrant all together on Monday. Growling, barking, chewing on fingers and toes. And just not responding to being scolded. But she is so darn cute we often found ourselves just shaking our heads, with dumbfounded looks on our faces. Which probably didn't help the situation!

So late yesterday I bought a spray bottle and used it during the evening to reinforce the scolding. And stepped up the "mother knows best" training methods (grab face/cheeks, make eye contact, and scold the bad dog). During the night last night she was an angel. It seems the water bottle and stricter scolding method has paid off. She was so quiet that I got up just to check on her! She fussed VERY little and there was NO screaming! She's like a new dog! Her new and improved attitude continued this morning. She is chewing on us less (she thinks about it now - which is so important) and responding better to her name (sometimes I think she is a master of selective hearing). She no longer attempts to "boss" us around, but looks to us now for approval. Establishment of Alpha at its finest!

Potty training still consists of potty pads. Too cold to even think about taking her outside. We have two potty pads downstairs, one in the living room and one in the dining room near her daytime crate. We also have one potty pad upstairs in a tub near the bed. She will go to the pad downstairs on her own most of the time. When she does, we clap and cheer like the Packers just recovered the football and ran it back for a touchdown! I do NOT understand how some people can say their darling puppy only had one or two accidents before being reliable. Sophia is just too little to get it reliably. I'm thrilled that she's doing as well as she is after only a few days.

She seems to enjoy her crates, both the daytime and nighttime crates. She will go into her daytime crate on her own to chew on a toy or just to sniff around. She has even laid down in it for a time all by herself. So glad for that!! .....

Ohhhh!! We got new pictures of Mack, son of Smart Cookie & Mini-E, born 08/24/03. Isn't he beautiful!!

I went back to the doctor yesterday and got more new meds. All I've got to say is, if they work better than what I've been taking, it will be "Move Over Tina", as in Turner, cause I'll be singing "Proud Mary". That woman could sing that song!!! (I'm not going to explain that to those of you who are too young to understand.) LOL LOL LOL

Got to run take care of puppies, water all 147 plants (what a job) and then sweep & mop floors where the Bullies have tracked in mud because it's been raining.

Precious A Precious Update!!!!
Daughter of Charlotte & Pepper Born 8/21/03

From: Tristin
Sent: Sunday, January 18, 2004 6:43 PM
I asked my friend Laura to come to supper this week and take pictures of Precious with her digital camera, and, wouldn't you know it, she came over for dinner and forgot her camera. So my written descriptions will have to suffice.

Precious is wonderful in all ways. She is up to 30 lbs and looks very much more "bulldog"-gy. She does all business outside except during the night she still has accidents. She has learned "sit." She isn't greedy; she doesn't beg when we eat. She is sweet and noble and playful. She knows the word "Daddy" and I can ask her, "Precious, do you need to go potty?" and she will wag her tail and head to the door if so. The vet checked on her last Saturday and said she is growing so fast (50% weight gain in the last month) that it must be stressing her body, but I never see signs of it. The vet said she is not overweight. The vet also put her on antibiotics because she has lots of facial pimples despite all my efforts. She is happy to get the extra cheese I hide the pills in! A little comedy is that we have been having weather at 0 degrees, which is literally like -20 wind chill. Precious was so pained walking outside even with a coat so I bought her boots, with leather soles, fleece tops and longbuilt in socks. Who invented these things? You cannot get them on; once you do, they slide all around and slip off. The poor baby had on a coat and boots and I was dragging her outside - exactly like the toddler with the overprotective mother who puts on so many layers the kid can't move his ams! LOL! We are very happy and hope you and your family are as well. Love to everyone, especially Miss Charlotte. - Tristin

- 10:00 AM CST

I must confess, I'm one of those people ....I sing out a few lines of a song when life reminds me of the words. This morning it's 26 degrees and sprinkling outside, so what do I do, sing...

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again
(Singing In The Rain - Gene Kelly)

It's easy to do the some of those dance steps when you are holding an umbrella, but I'd like to have seen Gene Kelly try it with a Bully on a lead. (lol lol) I'm fortunate that my "singing habit" doesn't bother Bob, therefore I'm free to be myself.

We've just taken pictures of Jelly and if they are good, Bob will post them on her page and give you the latest update on her.

Today, I leave you with the song I sing when my back is to the wall - Judy

"High Hopes", Writer(s): cahn/van heusen, Sung By Frank Sinatra

When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam

’cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin’ bad
’stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

Saturday - 01/17/04 - 4:00 AM CST

All is well here, although it is raining, our spirits are high and we are hopeful of "bright skies in the future". Last night I met Trudy and Jeffery of Wausau WI at a motel in Memphis for them to get Carmello, now named Sophia. Such a nice young couple, who shared my views on "raising baby". She will be loved and spoiled all her life. This morning Baby Ruth goes to her new home, just down the road at the next farm. Got to run for now but I'll give you a detailed update on Jelly later today... I wish I had named her Jelly Bean, it fits her better.

If you are a praying person, please say one today for our fellow Americans in uniform. - Judy

Story of Jelly Roll, the deformed palate puppy

Meet Harley, owned by Kathleen Craig of Louisiana. She is from Miss B & PepperJack's 09/13/03 Litter. Isn't she a beautiful "baby". Here are excerpts from a Harley Update email:

.. is doing wonderful. She has now completely taken over my life. She has moved from sleeping next to the bed to sleeping in the bed - a big step because its a waterbed.

At last vet visit on Thursday she weighed in at 22.6 lbs.,averaging about two pounds a week. My mother and father are completely in love with her too. Potty training is going well - only a few accidents, most of which happen in the morning because we can't get to the door fast enough. She goes to work with my father on days that I have to work and has a German Shepherd friend there named Parker. She received more Christmas presents than I did. She got ...and a little blue shirt that says "angel" - which she refuses to take off. She loves meeting new people and is a little diva.

Surely sounds like Harley is living the life of a princess!!!

Take care today and remember to tell those you love, how much they mean to you. - Judy

Friday - 01/16/04 - 9:00 AM CST

Happy Birthday !!!
To Bronson, Peanut, Sugar, Clyde and Melanie, too!!!!!

Today Bronson becomes 9 years old, while Peanut, Sugar & Clyde are celebrating their first birthday. Human ladies normally don't like for their age to be told, so Melanie it's our secret.

While they were outside to potty, Bob took birthday pictures of Peanut & Sugar to add to the birthday story he wrote Peanut's Birthday Story
Both Cookie puppies are beautiful, more so than we had expected.

Cylde is their brother who lives in Hattiesburg, MS. Not long ago we got an email saying.. "Clyde is huge. He weighs 58 lbs, his chest is 31 inches wide and he is 22 inches long." What a difference in sizes!! Sugar is a Mini, Peanut average size and Clyde is "big".

Peanut is so full of himself this morning, just like he knows it's his special day. Since we have puppies out in the children's pools, to guard against an accident, I put all the big Bullies in crates before I came upstairs to write this entry, it wasn't 5 minutes until they were all barking. I rushed down stairs to find Peanut loose, jumping and running around, just to make the others bark. I put him back in his crate and made sure this time that I had locked the door instead of just closing it. No sooner had I gotten back upstairs then the commotion started again. This time Bob went down with me. Peanut has learned how to unlock his crate along with the gate to the 10x10 holding pen we have outside and when he does it, it tickles him silly. I swear I could almost hear him sing:

I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a Gas! Gas! Gas!

(JUMPING JACK FLASH written by Jagger/Richards, recorded 1968)

Can't you tell we're gonna have fun today!!!! - Judy

Story of Jelly Roll, the deformed palate puppy

Thursday - 01/15/04 - 10:00 AM CST

I got my Good News this morning in an email!!!

Congratulations to David & Jamie on the upcoming birth of a child!! They are both wonderful people and we wish them the best life has to offer.

Of course this does bring complications to their lives because David is going to Veterinary School in Auburn, Alabama. While in school they are living in a small trailer and will not have enough room or time for Lisa Marie, the Bully puppy we gave them when they moved to Auburn, three years ago.

I've just sent them an email telling them we will meet them immediately to get Lisa, just to let me know the particulars. She is just at the right age to breed and we feel certain she will make a wonderful puppy mama because Kate, her mother, and Juliet, her sister, are excellent with their puppies!!

Leo, owned by Donney & Kim of Ringgold, Georgia. He is from Sleepy & Pepper's last litter 12/13/02. Isn't he absolutely beautiful. He looks so much like Jeb, who is his half- brother, that it makes me want to grab hold of him and not let go!!! Here are the pictures I received last night.

We had a rough time with Jelly Roll last night. I decided to create a web page to keep people who are interested updated. The story of Jelly Roll, the deformed palate puppy

Meanwhile, we'll be jumping hurdles and moving right along!!! - Judy

Wednesday - 01/14/04 - 10:00 AM CST

Jelly Roll has started crying out for no apparent reason. The duration of the crying isn't long since we pick her up and cuddle with her immediately but she's doing it 3-4 times during an 8 hours period. You can imagine how distressing this is for us since her health is still so critical ... this is not a good sign. Bob is her main caregiver, I'm just too sensitive to become deeply involved with a pup who probably won't live, and he is determined to love her through whatever comes. Isn't he wonderful!!!

Last night, he told me he just had to get away for awhile so we decided to go into the "big city" of Corinth, Mississippi for a Chinese Buffet dinner. It was good, but on the way home Bob said, "Every time we go out to eat it reminds me to truly appreciate your cooking." That is a wonderful compliment, but Chinese I can't do, my Stir Fry turns out to be mush!!

I have bedding to wash, ears to clean, vinegar & water sprays to give, supplies to order and kisses waiting to be collected. - Judy

Tuesday - 01/13/04 - 8:00 AM CST

Good Morning!!! I have a smile on my face that can't be wiped off!!! Sleepy Lady's Lucy, named after the Beatles 1967 song, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, tickles me silly. She lays on her back in my hand, licking the air and yawning, sucks on my chin and snuggles up tight on my neck. She is so absolutely ugly, that she's cute, to me at least. Naturally, she gets more kisses than the other pups. One of our friends just shakes his head that I could be so crazy over this "ugly ducking". Here she is sucking on my hand.
Lucy

I am so proud of how much I got accomplished yesterday, but working so hard and long caused my adrenalin to kicked in, keeping me awake until 2 this morning. What time I wasn't taking care of puppies, I just laid in bed thinking or reading.

My "babies" are calling. - Judy

Monday - 01/12/04 - 10:00 AM CST

You ever have one of those feelings that you are going to get some GREAT NEWS? That's my feeling this morning and although it might not come true, it surely is nice .. makes me think anything is possible. My new meds are working great and "our gang" is so excited about me being about to do the "Bully Butt Wiggle" with them once again. A few, along with Bob, wish I would hold off on the "Ole Time Rock' N Roll" for a few hours so they could wake up slow and easy.

Bob is over the flu, all the puppies are doing well, including Jelly Roll, poor baby has improved a little and she's very active just tiny because her intake supply is so limited. The temperature is suppose to be up to 58 today and the sun is shining ... what more could we ask for!!!

To start your day off with a smile, here is a picture of Juliet's girls.
Pumpkin on the left, Cinnamon on the right and Jelly Roll in the back.

Take command of today and make out of it what you want!!! - Judy

Sunday - 01/11/04 - 2:00 PM CST

Before poor Bob had his eyes open, I was up and singing "Rockin Robin" while getting dressed. He put the pillow over his head, after giving me a look of "I can't believe you". All I can figure is, it must have been something I ate .... I'll have to find out what, because today I really could slay dragons!!! Poor dragons, we'll dance instead!!

I have a million things to do today and while I'm so energetic I best get to them. - Judy

Saturday - 01/10/04 - 9:00 PM CST

Bob and I did get away from the house for a couple of hours yesterday, only because we had to go to Corinth for supplies. It was somewhat restful but I ended up getting 30 lbs of chicken for "our gang", then I really had to get to work .. cooking.

Jelly Roll, Bless her heart she's having to be hand fed because she has a deformed palate, not clift. The top of her mouth, instead of being flat or slightly sunken, is a tad concave. This prevents her from being able to suck. We're hoping she will survive and get to the point where she can eat mushy food and not have to suck. Although it just might be that she is finally learning to suck, or maybe we just want to believe!!

Have a Good Night!! - Judy

Friday - 01/09/04 - 5:30 AM CST

Good Morning!!!

I'm in our upstairs bedroom reading news on the computer, trying to be as quiet as possible. Not five feet from me, Bob is in deep, deep sleep. I'm hoping the computer console keys don't disturb him. The "babies", actually Baby Ruth, got me up at 4 AM wanting to be fed and it's senseless for me to try to go back to bed, but it's still dark outside so I don't want to start "our gang's" potty breaks. If "our gang" knows I'm awake they will start barking to go out, which will be the end of Bob being able to sleep and he needs it so desperately.

In the last 3 days, I've gotten about 21 applications to be Puppy Parents, but I haven't taken the time to look at them ... I just had to get the house straightened up and cleaned. (Christmas stuff upstairs to a storage closet, kind of things.)

Sleepy Lady's puppies have just been too skinny and I've tried everything to put weight on them. Well yesterday we found out why, they have an intestinal parasite, which has now been passed to Amber's babies ... Hindsight is great, I should have know because this very same thing happened with her litter last year, evidently she is a carrier.

I'm determined to finish my "have too" chores this morning, then rest the remainder of the day as much as possible. Tomorrow I'll slay dragons!!! - Judy

Remember: Everyday that you wake up, are free,
and can put your feet on the floor, is a good day.
(Author Unknown to Judy)

Thursday - 01/08/04 - 7:30 AM CST

Bob is much, much better!!! You can't imagine how thankful I am.

I'm rushing to take care of "our gang" and get the place in order because Lynne & Sanjib are on their way here to pick up Snickers, who's new name is Carolina.

Make this a Great Day - Judy

Wednesday - 01/07/04 - 5:00 AM CST

It's 12 degrees and in another hour will be 10!!! Winter clothes (coats, gloves and hats) I know I have some somewhere!!!!!

Bob & I've been awake for about an hour because Juliet's babies had to be fed. One is so tiny I'm afraid she won't live, just like Peanut was at her age. Bob is taking very good care of her and it will break his heart if she doesn't make it .... and him with the flu. I told Bronson & Alec about her and they suggested the name "Jelly" which we loved. Should her sisters be named - Cinnamon Roll & Pumpkin Roll? Please say a prayer for Jelly Roll.

Bob is better, he's now at the grouchy stage. He's hard to care for because he won't take suggestions, take medicine, etc. If he were one of "our gang" I would scold him good, but his feelings are really easy to hurt right now so I guess I better not even let him know what I've written here.

I've got to run, Jazzman is leading the chorus to go out to potty. I wonder what they are going to think about 12 degrees!!! - Judy

Dog Gone!!!! We are just about 1/4 of a mile from the Mississippi State line and I just heard the weather forecast on a Mississippi Radio Station ...a record low tonight of 10 degrees in Northern Mississippi which would include us!!! I'm going to fix better protection for the "yard dogs". Bringing them into the house is totally out of the question, the Mama Bullies would not stand for it. Maybe I'll put them in crates in the van ... oops Boomer would kill himself trying to get free. Well, that's the problem for today.

Goodness, a Cedar Waxwing was just looking in the window at me!! I wonder if it's wanting to be fed. They are all over the porches, eating from the dog dishes, etc. From what I've read on the Internet, they are shy and therefore not often seen. Bird Watchers you are welcome to come visit!! And while I'm talking about birds, I believe the Redheaded Woodpeckers have finally moved on ... they really get pesky demanding food, hollering at me from low branches of the trees, etc. Blue Jays have taken their place, or maybe ran them off. I had not previously seen a flock of Blue Jays, only one or two at a time, but we were visited by 20 or so about a month ago. I haven't noticed them around the last few days so they may have gone to a warmer climate. I like my little Waxwings!!!

My doctor's appointment was canceled at the last minute so Jeb didn't get to go visiting!! I promised him, he could ride along with me to the Tupelo, Mississippi PetSmart in a day or so to get dog food. Last night the little stinker was standing out in the yard not wanting to come in so I started sweet talking him, which brought all the "strays" running to me. Immediately, he came bounding over to run off Dingo. Since he learned he could, he thinks it's great fun. All he has to do is get within 4 feet of Dingo, no growling or anything and Dingo leaves. I just hope he doesn't try that with any other big, pointy nosed dog, they might take offense!!!

Meet Oz & Luis, who live in Chicago, IL.
Oz is from Amber & Mini-E's 03/01/03 Litter.
This picture sure made me smile!!

I'm off to feed puppies, clean up poop and wash their bedding .... continuously all day long!! In return, I get paid in Puppy Kisses!!! - Judy

Just received these pictures of Maggie owned by the Rose Family. She is daughter of Gabby & Elvis, DOB 2/24/03. She looks to be one BIG girl!!

I also received this picture of Sir Winston of Chandler owned by Susan Chandler. He is the son of JoJo (owned by friends) and Mr. Big Stuff, DOB 4/10/03. I couldn't stop staring at his picture. Give him another 6 months to beef up and he will demand a second look!!!

Hi! Last winter you were kind enough to stud out Mr. Big Stuff to JoJo. This past spring she had a litter of seven BOYS! (poor woman) And out of those seven, I'd like to introduce to you Sir Winston of Chandler. I guess you could say he's your grandson, but I think my mom would have issues with that, he's her baby. Winston is the sweetest, funniest, most charming dog I have ever seen. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him. He has his own groupies. This Christmas, his first, there was no room in his stocking for everything he got from other people. People at PetSmart know him by name. If I ever have to leave for a few days, I have a waiting list a mile long for babysitters. I just don't think their houses could handle him. After all, he is about 55-60 pounds of what my best friend likes to call "Destructo-Dog". If it's there, he will chew it or eat it. So needless to say the only real health issues we've faced are temporary constipation from eating paper products. Anyway, just thought you would like to know that one of your little one's is doing great and receiving more love than he probably deserves. If you'd like, I can occasionally keep you updated. Hope you and your brood are doing well and that you have a peaceful new year. - Susan

Jeb and I are off to slay Dragons and make everything right in the world today ...

Jeb is going to ride along with me to my doctor's appointment and we're taking a few minutes out on the return trip to visit some people who need a smile. Bob is still sick and can't go with us but has promised to take it easy while we're gone.

It's raining so Dingo, the wild dog, came out of the woods and was curled up in one of the boxes on the porch at 3 AM when I got up to take care of puppies. Because I'm doing a lot of cooking for "our gang" he has been hanging around much more than normal. Yesterday, he got a really good scolding from me because he was playing a little too rough with Boomer & Dumpy. I believe he might be trying to run them off or at least elevate his status. Fluffy is content to be Queen and have them all doing her bidding. The boys are "strays that came to stay". Fluffy I bought because it was love at first sight.

These aren't their best pictures but .....Dingo, Dumpy, Boomerang & Fluffy

Take care and make this a day worth remembering!! - Judy

Good Morning To You!!!

Bob is a bit better today so things are looking up. Since everything has gotten behind, I've resolved to do the daily "have too" items, plus 2 more projects each day. This way it will take me awhile but I'll get everything done. My spirits sure have been lifted by our unseasonable warm weather the last three days. Right now it is 66 degrees!!! The humidity is 81% and we suppose to have thunderstorms which will bring back the cold weather, so I'm up and working hopeful to get lots done before the rain starts. - Judy

Subject: Happy New Year!
I was just catching up on your journal, and it sounds like, as always, you have your hands full. I just thought I'd send you this picture of our Puppy Claus, and to let you know how grateful, even after 1 1/2 years, that you let us add Mortymer to our family. I believe now he has finally gotten all the 'puppy' out of him, and he has turned in to such a loving and fun dog. (Although it seems as soon as I praise him for 'growing up' he quickly does something to remind me that he is still a little puppy.) He was an angel over the holidays- when we went to visit my family in Chicago, and everyone fell in love with him. Hope you enjoyed the holidays, and I hope that Bob is feeling better soon. Have a great weekend! - Stephanie

Bob definitely has the flu - poor, wonderful man!!! He tried to let me rest last night so I'm off to take care of the puppies and "our gang" so he can sleep in for a change.

Later... Judy

"We have one mission in life, and that mission is to love" - Mother Theresa

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 50 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone contend that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love dogs… smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
