English Bulldog Puppy Pictures Eve's Litter Page - Click Here Here is a link to her other litter born in 2006 Friday - February 15, 2008 9:00 AM Oh My!!! The puppies are beautiful, but I can't get anything else done because they need so much care ... translate that to read "they are so darling they distract me". They are beginning to stand up and take a step or two, wobble like drunken sailors, then hit the mat. I'll try to get a video of that for you today. I try to keep in mind that most of you have not been around a young litter of puppies therefore have not experienced the tender moments, these I hope to share via video. Just thought of something, it wouldn't be a tender moment for you if Eve was giving you an her "evil stare" because you were too close to her puppies. lol lol I have so many emails of inquiry regarding the puppies, but I have put off making decisions on who will get them, until they were more developed, tomorrow they will be three weeks old so it's time to allow them to be reserved. I'll be sending out emails today trying to work out who will be the proud owners of the males. I was so very tired being up every 2 hours with the puppies, that I got confused as to who wanted which one. The inquiries I'm referring to were from people who presently have one of my "babies" and want another. Meanwhile, have a wonderful weekend and even if life isn't all you want it to be, pretend it is and you will be amazed that your pretending will come true. Life is all a matter of attitude!! - Judy Thursday - February 14, 2008 10:45 AM Happy Valentine's Day!!!Here is your Valentine's Day present ![]() Rhythm was on her back but had eaten so much that she couldn't roll over to right herself, so I grabbed the camera sat down on a stool and started recording. Wednesday - February 13, 2008 9:20 AM Snowed here overnight ever so lightly. The ground looks like it's been dusted with powdered sugar. We've been hid away upstairs reading the news and discussing our must do list. It's 25.2 °F with a wind chill of 19 °F, too cold to take the bullies out walking, but they've just decided to wake up and GO now!! Later - Judy Tuesday - February 12, 2008 10:20 PM Since my birthday the end of Noavember, I have been out of the house only once (might have been one more time) because I've been so sick with this twice yearly allergy induced bronchitis, I'm fairly certain it went into pneumonia late December into early January. The one time I left the house was to take Eve to the vet for the c-section, but today I told Bob I HAD to get out into the world ... no restaurants or places with smelly fragrances, just the butcher shop and Walmart. The Walmart visit was confined to the food section of the store, no cleaning products, etc. We laughed, we had fun and we appreciated being together without the critters. - Judy Tuesday - February 11, 2008 8:00 PM Until I started researching Kimchee, Sauerkraut, vinegar, pickles, etc. I didn't realize how extremely healthful these foods are ..... Longetivy Alabama woman 115 years old contributed her longevity to vinegar and pickles Longevity - Korean Pickles, Indian Curry, Etc. - MargarethDiva's article is the summation of many health professional articles I read, but her article is a much easier read. Some fun web pages ... Kool-Aid Dills a Mississippi invention, is featured in The New York Times, Dining & Wine Section (We won't talk about another Mississippi favorite, deep fried Twinkies Recipe) Texas Bob's Pickle Sickles are now being sold nationwide as a healthy alternative to sticky sweet frozen treats Frozen Pickle Treats Deep Fried Dill Pickles with dipping sauce Recipe I'm off to buy mega jars of pickles, jugs of vinegar and two chocolate candy bars, one for each of us. - Judy Monday - February 11, 2008 Noon The puppy toenail clipping was delayed until today, I couldn't find the human finger nail clippers I use for puppies, although we have multiples thereof. Both Drummer Man and Melody allowed me to pull them off Eve's nipple, hold them in my lap and clip their nails. Melody even went to sleep while I was doing it. lol lol I have never had a puppy to do that before, but it was about time for them to fall asleep while nursing. The other 4 puppy's nails were not clipped until they we're fast asleep. I gently picked them up, cradled them in my arm and started clipping ... oops, note to self, try first approach with the other four puppies, because they sure didn't like being woke up to nail clipping. They struggled to get free, which of course makes the job so much harder. (Note to readers: At this stage they are either nursing or sleeping. If they are awake they want to be fed.)
Sunday - February 10, 2008 7:15 PM Our hearts go out to Jess, Ken, Konnor, Kendal & Sampson (one of ours) as they bid farewell to Miss Sophie, their boxer, as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge.- Judy & Bob. Sunday - February 10, 2008 1:30 PM
Sunday - February 10, 2008 12:45 PM All pictures have been posted.- Judy Sunday - February 10, 2008 12:15 PM I hope this won't offend anyone .... when we got downstairs to the puppy pool much to our amazement we saw Rhythm standing tall. She was the first!! I told Bob who was holding the camera to hurry and take her picture. Then I noticed that she was standing up to poop and did so on the side of the face of the puppy behind her, who just happened to be the sleeping Honkytonk Man. I snatched him up quickly to clean up the slushy puppy poop, tissue first then a wet wash cloth. This made a GROUCHY Honkytonk Man, but it got worse when the flash from the camera started going off. He was giving off a growly cry which upset Eve to the point that she was making the same sound. lol lol Sunday - February 10, 2008 Noon Bob's nap is over so we're off to take pictures of Honkytonk Man .... he hangs out at the juke joint on the westside of Stiles, MS, just after you cross the tracks on Hwy 24, behind the old cotton gin, that's why he's called Honkytonk Man. (fictional place made up by Judy) Sunday - February 10, 2008 10:45 AM I've started posting pictures. If you see a "red x" keep refreshing your screen until I have completed the upload. Sunday - February 10, 2008 8:30 AM This is a test of my software, I'm uploading this picture of Ramblin Man, to see if the "snow" appears on the uploaded version.
We took lots of pictures of Eve's "babies" but my version of Paint Shop Pro causes them to have "snow" which I could not delete. Bob's version showed them just fine, but he was too exhausted to resize and edit the pictures. I'm weird about having upgrades or new software added to my already over-extended computer. You will probably not be able to understand this, but 17 years ago when I decided to become a breeder of English Bulldogs, a breeder of Poodles told me you have to be tough to be a breeder. I could not imagine what she meant, BUT through the years I've learned ... if it is a labor of love the heart strings are tugged at so many times that if you are not strong you will cave. Today, I've cried for Norman, one of my babies, who lived a good long life but crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently after having been the most loved and lovable of Bullies. To my friend Gina, who raised him, I say, I know your pain!!! - Judy Saturday - February 9, 2008 1:00 PM I wish I could say, I just woke up, but I would be lying, I've been up since 5:30 AM and have allowed these critters to take up too much of my time. I cooked the left over Egg Foo Young for breakfast, which started all of them wanting a bite. (lol lol) My green veggie eater, Li'l Cookie is so funny eating snow peas and broccoli, it was almost frozen so she didn't know what to think at first. I took a video of the puppies but it was boring because they wouldn't move, just kept sleeping no matter what I did. The only interesting part was Eve "talkin' to me", too funny but for it to be of interest to other people I should have been recording her instead of the pups. I thought I'd give you all an update while I was resting for a few minutes, but Mama Eve is already calling me to come down. Maybe the pups are up and trying to walk. Oh ya'll, Bob had put Eve in an outside run to do her business then took Li'l Cookie on a lead for a potty break. Li'l came in first, I sat down by the pool so she could look in and sniff them. She didn't try to get in the pool but she was so interested that I picked up one and held in for her to smell. She wiggled up between by knees, leaned into me and gave bunches of kisses to the "baby". Too cute, of course my hands were too full to take a video. I'm off to wash puppies, clip their toenails and worm them (worming starts at 2 weeks of age). It will soon be time to start teaching them how to eat mush .... but I want this litter to stay "babies" for a long time, I'm so enjoying them and Ms "Heifer" Eve. - Judy Friday - February 8, 2008 10:00 PM My objective is to keep busy in the kitchen and thus allow Eve as much puppy time as she wants, therefore.... I made a REAL chocolate cake, with honey, butter, cocoa, etc.. BigDaddy had taste tested the batter and then after it was done said he didn't think it needed icing, because it smelled so good. Actually I think he couldn't wait for me to make the icing. lol lol I found a package of Dark Cherry dessert sauce which he tried later and loved. He asked if I could make this cake again and I told him "gracious no", I just started tossing it together, but I probably could ... used a chocolate cake mix, added an extra egg, liquid was milk/half 'n half mix, butter creamed with honey instead of oil, tasted the batter and it was definitely too artificial tasting so I tossed in 1/2 cup cocoa with enough sugar added so it would mix well. Went more or less on taste. Making the cake got me wanting to make an old-fashion chocolate pie but that will have to wait for another day. I also made a Mincemeat/Apple pie, I cook one every week or so. I cooked Shrimp Egg Foo Young for lunch. I find it hard to eat enough veggies during the winter therefore I'm always looking for tasty ways to prepare frozen veggies. We're planning on having BBQ pork sandwiches for supper, but Bob was too full of cake. lol lol In reference to the Shrimp Egg Foo Young .... again I just tossed it together ... a package of Kroger Stir Fry veggies, medium sweet onion, canned mushrooms (drained), shrimp (I don't like imported shrimp so I looked long and hard for USA peel 'em and eat 'em, cooked, medium/large size shrimp.) You could use chicken instead. Thaw Stir Fry veggies, pat dry. Cut all of the above into smaller pieces but not minced. Stir fry for just a minute or two ... you want it still crispy. Remove from skillet. In another bowl break and scramble a couple of eggs with a fork. Season with oyster sauce or soy sauce. I used oyster. I prepared and stir fried lightly the veggies with the shrimp. I took a portion and mixed it with the egg mixture and sat the remainder to the side. I started experimenting with the desired taste, cooking one at a time and adjusting the amount of oyster sauce as I went. Somewhere along the line, Eve decided "it smelled good and she wanted some", silly mama dog, but she loved it!!! Li'l Cookie wanted some if Eve was getting some and Cherry Cookie behind the kiddy gate started barking for her fair share. If all of them get a bite there won't be any left for me and Bob. Basically it is a stir fry veggie/shrimp omelet, but has a great fresh veggie taste. I didn't bother with a sauce because it wasn't needed to enhance the taste. If all that hasn't worn you out with "my day" then you are a better person than I am. - Judy Friday - February 8, 2008 8:00 AM I'm rather excited, my medicine appears to be working because I don't have an elevated temperature, well maybe a tad but not enough to be considered a low grade fever. I've been awake since 4 AM when Fluffy, she who must be obeyed, started barking at boogers. The donkey in the pasture across the road put a stop to the wild critters roaming for awhile. It woke us up making loud donkey noises for a good 10 minutes one morning but afterward all was quiet for several weeks. I wonder if they have moved the donkey to another pasture? Once awake I laid quietly reading a book and later answering emails, while Bob slept. Then it was time to feed the puppies, they are growing and looking so good. I'll be back later with pictures of the puppies. - Judy Thursday - February 7, 2008 8:00 PM Oh me, I've worked so hard today that I'm exhausted and am about ready to go to bed, but before I do I wanted to give you a little update on the "babies". One female's eyes are open and I fully expect all of them to be open sometime tomorrow. Those little eyes really bring it home that they are beautiful. We are holding our breath because Rudy from the first litter has an undeveloped eye. I don't know what caused it, never happened in this bloodline before, we can only guess it was just a birth defect and won't happen again. ![]() More pictures of the puppies tomorrow!! - Judy Wednesday - February 6, 2008 9:30 PM I've taken a video of the puppies nursing which I will upload tomorrow. They are so funny but the video quality isn't very good. I had put Li'l Cookie in a crate so Mama Eve wouldn't take her head off if she tried to get into the pool with them, therefore Li'l Cookie is whining on the first part of the video and I had the radio on which is distracting. I'll do better next time. It's gone from a high yesterday of 75F to a low tonight of 25F. Late this afternoon I couldn't breath well at all, allergic reaction to something that "blew in" I suppose. At any rate, gasping I asked Bob to mix 1 tablespoon of Evan Williams Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey with 2 tablespoons of water for me. Instant relief!! I don't get relief that fast with any inhaler I've been given by doctors. I just held my breath and swallowed, because to me liquor tastes nasty. A neighbor told me about Evan Williams when Bob had a very bad cold a couple of years ago. I bought a more expensive brand of bourbon and it didn't work. The neighbor said "I told you Evan Williams". So I drove another 3 hours to get the Evan Williams because in our county you can only buy beer and sure enough it worked!!! We show our love or the lack thereof in the everyday, little things we do. Isn't it amazing that those who send gushy special occasion cards often times are thought of more highly than the person who is laboring daily to care for an elderly relative or friend. - Judy Wednesday - February 6, 2008 Noon All is well here but .... the area is still assessing the damage. The last report I heard was that more than 50 tornadoes streaked through the South and more than 10,000 homes are without electricity in the Memphis Area alone. Bob and I were awake most of the night. I can't begin to tell you the emotional toll this has taken on both of us. We're grouchy with each other and the critters. The ground is so soaked that we're all tracking in mud. I finally laid a blanket on the back porch to absorb some of it. I've been unable to teach the critters to clean their feet before entering the house. (lol) They come running full out with mud caked on their feet up over their toenails, some hit the porch and slide. And then there is Sweetie Pie, who steps ever so lightly trying to avoid getting her feet even wet. It also takes four of us to cut her toenails. She must have had a very bad experience before she came to live with us. - Judy Tuesday - February 5, 2008 9:30 PM Super Bowl, Super Tuesday and Super Tornado ... I do think that's a little too much Super, don't you??? Tuesday - February 5, 2008 7:30 PM It passed about a mile east of us according to the weather radar, but we got LOTS of hail. Let me make a point ... the hail did not just drop from the sky, it was hurled at us by the tailend of the totnado. Our wrap-around porches are 7 feet deep and the hail was crashing into the windows and doors. I retrieved two from the porch and measured them, 1 1/4 inches. I had moved about a dozen hanging pots onto the back porch to water and they were severely pelted by the hail. Oh well, we'll see the damage in the morning. I'm just proud the tornado didn't hit us. - Judy ![]() Tuesday - February 5, 2008 6:30 PM One or more tornadoes have hit Memphis and from what the local news is reporting it sounds bad. There is one in North Mississippi which is headed straight toward us, due here at 7 PM!!! All the critters are up, as safe and sound as possible. - Judy Tuesday - February 5, 2008 Noon Ohhh, puppies are just begining to try to walk, they are so very cute. Monday - February 4, 2008 10:00 PM It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections! (Author Unknown) I love my Big Daddy!!! - Judy (PS He was looking for pj bottoms.) Monday - February 4, 2008 6:45 PM They were quickly out growing their plastic bucket, so as of last night they were moved to the pool full time. Eve is in a big crate next to them and she will pretty much comes and goes as she pleases during the day with me in the kitchen, but not at night when we're trying to take cat naps.
This is a GOOD DAY!!! I believe some Bob & Judy ingenuity fixed the dryer without having to crawl under the house. I asked Bob how he blew out the vent from inside the house and when he showed me, I suggested the creation of a shield which would help to direct the air and sure enough it worked. These tired old bones were surely hating the thought of crawling on unfinished cement. Now you are asking yourself, how did she make a shield ... Southern gals all know you can fix most anything with either duct tape, baling wire or WD-40. This situation called for duct tape. In addition, I think I have finally found the right combination of medicine to resolve my breathing problem. Our bodies are all different and what works for one won't for the next person but I'm feeling so much better today and I just started taking the medicine yesterday. It is much more affective than the prescription medicine. Yes it is over the counter Mucinex!! Actually they had sold out of this brand so Bob got me "Mucus Relief Cough" because it has the same ingredients. The difference is Mucinex is time released and Mucus Relief Cough is "immediate-release". A friend who is a nurse told me about this product and also warned you must drink plenty of liquid. Snorting and gargling salt water cleared up the sore throat and sinus infection but not my lung congestion ... I do believe this OTC medicine plus the antibiotics will clear out the infection in my lungs. I'm so excited I could do the Bully Butt Wiggle .. for a minute anyway. - Judy PS Cooked a turkey for all of us, but that heifer Eve said, she wanted it all. When I told her she must share with me, Bob and the other critters, she pouted. lol lol Sunday - February 3, 2008 2:40 PM I should have gone under the house yesterday because today it is raining and I woke up coughing, yuck. Bob blew out the part of the dryer which connects to the vent system with a leaf blower and it's about 50% better. He's going to do that again and if it doesn't resolve the problem, then under the house one of us will go, probably both and I'll play the part of the attack dog should we come across a critter. I'm worried about snakes but my friend Beth suggested nice and it seems I recall the same odor from childhood when my sister had a bunch of tame white mice. The puppies were nursing every 2 hours but it's slowly expanding, we're up to almost 2 1/2 at present. You've probably figured this out already, but I'm a real pushover for the nursing mothers, partly because the more they eat and drink the more milk they have for the babies. Yesterday afternoon I warmed Bob up a plate of mashed potatoes and meatloaf and he left the kitchen with it. Eve stared at him as he left, looked at me and let out a barely audible low growl and licked her lip. I had to laugh, she really thought it was for her. Laughter but no food didn't please her at all, so this low yodel type growl became louder and louder, in between which she would lick her lip and stare at me like she was mad. By now I'm doing a full belly laugh because she is trying her best to give me "a tongue lashing" but is unable to actually talk. (Laugh at a Bully and they will keep doing whatever it is they are doing!!) You guessed it, I tossed her a hunk of meatloaf and then got her a can of puppy food and fixed her my special "bully mother's milk shake". She's just like her grandmother, my beloved Sassy T, who passed away at 13 years old in 2006. Later... I just heard a puppy cry. But before I go, you all do realize that I facilitate Eve being a spoiled brat, it's all my fault and if I didn't want her to be that way I wouldn't do the things I do, like tossing her the meatloaf or encouraging her to fuss at me. - Judy Saturday - February 2, 2008 6:40 PM Pictures of the females. Saturday - February 2, 2008 4:20 PM I've been thinking on how to get at least the "strays that came to stay" under the house with me, I'll fry up some hamburgers wrap them in foil, put them in a plastic shopping bag, get in the van drive to the end of the driveway, then turn around and come back. The "strays" always come running to greet us, ever hopeful of us bringing them back a doggie bag. Once they smell the hamburgers, they will follow me anywhere. lol lol Saturday - February 2, 2008 3:30 PM Gracious it is hectic here and my poor brain can't handle the action. Up and down with puppies, answering the telephone, trying to figure out what is wrong with the clothes dryer and how to get the dog beds dried without it. It is drying but takes twice as long and it stinks. The brightest thing to do would be to go under the house and see if the vent pipe has a critter nest in it, has dropped or what!!! The problem however is what would I do if there is a critter's nest in the pipe and I would have to crawl on my hands and knees about 50 feet on unfinished concrete. I wouldn't be able to walk for a few days if I do that and I'll have to have more than 3 tablespoons of wine ... I'd probably have to break down and take the prescription pain killer I've had sitting in the bathroom cabinet for years, too afraid of side affects to even try it. What I need is a tough dog to go under the house with me, but I can't see any of ours going into a really dark place with a flashlight ... big chickie dogs. lol lol Maybe I'm not giving them enough credit. Drat .. so now Eve is calling me to put the puppies in the pool to nurse .... Friday - February 1, 2008 PM FYI This is Winston a grown puppy from Eve's & Jazzman's 2006 litter Date:Saturday, September 29, 2007 3:33 PM Winston is now 18 months old and the most lovable dog. He loves his mom and dad, and loves when guests come around. He also loves his pumpkin! Happy Halloween!
