Puppy Gal Welcomes You To

Judy's February 2009 Journal....

I started this feature for friends and family to answer their "What's going on?" emails, therefore, I probably tell too much, but you are welcome to laugh, cry and sigh with us.

If you have been gifted with the ability to love, you are a fortunate person indeed.

Strawberry & Peanut's Litter

1/11/09 - After we put all the grown critters in their dens (crates) for the night, we took individual videos with me holding the pups. Ruckus, who is precious, showed a jealous side we didn't know he had. I was standing beside his pool and he started nibbling my leg. He ALWAYS licks my leg or pants so it came as a shock. It's difficult to ad lib on a video with a puppy biting your leg through your pants. lol lol - Judy

The E-Mail Function has been disconnected due to the unbelievable number of Spams and Scams. If you need to speak to me please call (731) 376-0635 between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM CST. This is a private residence, we are not a company. This telephone number is on the State of Tennessee and Federal NO CALL lists for telemarketers.

Please do not call me in reference to when we will have available puppies, I will post that information on the website when the time is appropriate. Be polite and you will receive same in return, but if you are rude (don't call me Judy if you refer to yourself as Mr. or Mrs. I'm not beneath you in life's pecking order) or ask explicate sexual questions about breeding, I'll say goodbye and hang up the telephone.

"The Big Freeze" Saturday - February 28, 2009 5:00 PM
If we are very, very lucky we will miss the snow and hail storm altogether. I've battened down the hatches and got caught up on dog bed washing ... I'm constantly changing out the puppies bed so it makes for lots of dirt sheets, pillow cases and t-shirts. I'm trying my best to separate Hope's puppies so they won't be frantic without each other when they go to their new homes, but it is stressing them out so much that I only keep them apart for 20 minutes or so at a time. Tootsie Roll makes the most pitiful sounds, almost like snuffing, when I pick her up in hopes that a little loving will help her over the hump.

Tomorrow is "picture day" if we are snowed in, if there isn't any snow I have errands to run in the morning so it will be the afternoon before the pictures are posted. - Judy

"" Friday - February 27, 2009 8:00 PM
I partially dislocated my shoulder or damaged my rotor cuff helping to move two outside dog runs a few weeks back and now I keep re-injuring it trying to keep up with the chores. Last night I decided if it was dislocated that I needed to put it back in place myself. I drank a BIG glass of wine and had a go at it. It hasn't hurt near as badly today so I might have done it some good. When I told Bob what I was going to do, he said he couldn't stand to watch so he went downstairs. lol lol If my shoulder is still hurting after the puppies go to their new homes, I'm going to the doctor with the needles. The way I understand it the man is a physician who believes in some alternative methods of treatment, acupuncture being one of them. Fortunately I have a high pain threshold and good pain management skills ... out of necessicity because I can't take pain relievers, nor can I smoke that funny weed which makes you care less if you are in pain. lol lol

The puppies are doing great ... Sylvia, Eric is coming along just fine, I'll post pictures soon.

Spring is in the air here but I've promised myself not to go near seed racks, related websites or ebay. So much for Spring ...Dog My Cats, I just looked at the weather and could not believe we have SNOW in the forecast for Saturday night, storms tonight with enough rain expected to flood low areas. The ground is already squishy!!!

"Iris" Thursday - February 26, 2009 1:00 PM
I've got plenty of Iris pushing their way up out of the ground so if you are getting a puppy and want some Iris starts, just let me know. They won't bloom for you this year but will next year if you go ahead and plant them right away. They bloom here during April and May. This is a picture of a group blooming the first week of May last year.

The only problem is between the puppies Bob dug out of the small cave in a ditch (referred to as the Ditch Puppies although they are now grown) and the strays that came to stay, all the name tags are missing from the Iris. They thought for sure I had spent all that time and effort to give them something to play with. Then there were the deer, don't let anyone tell you, deer won't eat Iris. It wasn't a favorite but after they ate the rose bushes, finished off the lilies and gobbled down the hosta, they turned to the Iris as their food of last resort. By then the foliage of the Narcissus (also referred to as buttercups, jonquils or daffodils) had all died back to the ground so I don't know if they eat those or not. I've been told NOT, but I was also told Not about Iris. lol lol

"Abnormal Weather" Thursday - February 26, 2009 Noon
All is well here. Goodness Gracious was I tired. I didn't get my sorry self out of bed until 10:30 and then I had what I call a "sleep hangover". I slept so hard I was light headed, sleeping 14 straight hours does it every time. Weather forecast for this afternoon Windy. Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. South winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to near 35 mph. After tomorrow we're going back to the 40s for a high during the day. I'm off to take advantage of the higher than normal temperature to get some chores completed, but I'm not going to be whirling dervish ... well let's see where did I put my Vitamin B12. lol lol - Judy

"TimeOut" Wednesday - February 25, 2009 6:30 PM
It's 51°F but the high humidity and wind make it feel much colder, or maybe it's me. At any rate it is suppose to be 70°F for a high tomorrow and a low tomorrow night of 58° F, but again it's suppose to be windy and humid. I'm going to sleep early tonight with a promise in my heart of being one working fool tomorrow. Bob is going to take care of the puppies so I can sleep all night!! Thank you so much Sweetheart. By the way where is my love note. Yes I want it all... lol lol

I uploaded the picture of Hope & Bessie's puppies Monday afternoon and as of this afternoon I only have Rolo who is not reserved. I haven't posted a picture of Eric yet but fully expect to do so in a couple of days. In a few days when I'm rested and caught up on my basic chores, I'll take lots of pictures and upload videos to YouTube for everyone to see. - Judy

"TimeOut" Wednesday - February 25, 2009 10:00 AM
I've declared this day as a "timeout" day. It's drizzling rain and probably will be most of the day, the grown critters are playing 'possum so they don't have to go out in it and we've taken care of the puppies for now. We're headed back to bed for a nap or maybe just to rest since there isn't a sound coming from downstairs.

English Bulldog puppy, Eric is doing fine but I'm going to hold off a few more days about posting his picture as available. - Judy

"Hope & Peanut's Puppies " Tuesday - February 24, 2009 3:00 PM
Y'all can't began to understand how crazy it is here. For instance, I had Eric under my top-shirt yesterday, holding him with one hand and with the other trying to feed Hope's puppies mushy food ... dip the food out of a container in which it was softened, put it in the microwave a very few seconds to heat until luke warm. Before I could finish, Jeb "had to go" so I opened the back door for him. He's gotten to where he goes off too far so my attention was drawn to him, watching him potty so I could get him back into the house. The telephone rang, I answered it and the caller wanted to talk about the puppies. I was short and sweet, hung up the telephone and it rang again, it was a man wanting to stud out his English Bulldog male. Just so happens I might be interested if it's the right kind of male, told him to send Bob pictures, talked to him about his cousin's male Bully who has popping hips, maybe I can assist him, at least I know more than some vets about bullies, told him to have his cousin call me. Oops Jeb is out of sight, the microwave bell rang a long time ago and I'm still holding Eric with one hand close to my heart. Jeb had decided to ramble so down the drive, as shown here it's about a fourth of a mile down to the mailbox and start of the deadend gravel road where we live. (The dog in the picture is Dingo a wild dog who graced us with his presence for several months.) I go to get his hard headed self back in the house. Mr Cat cut across my path and like to have tripped me, he must want food, nope Ms Kitty did it also so they are just wanting a little Mama time. I hear the telephone ringing inside but I've got all I can handle dodging cats, scolding Jeb, holding Eric to my heart, trying to walk and needing in the worse way to hurry up and feed Hope's puppies ... all on very little sleep the night before. lol lol It was this hectic all day long.

These are all the pictures I'm planning on posting for a few days, Bob took and edited them because I was overwhelmed. If a person wants one of these puppies and they can't decide from them, then they just need to move on to the next breeder.- Judy

"English Bulldog Puppy Eric " Monday - February 23, 2009
Bessie Smith's Eric is driving us crazy. It's like he has an off and on switch that keeps getting stuck. One feeding he will gobble the food down and the next one he won't eat all , just lays there which is terribly frightening. We've used all the tricks in the book: honey water, pedialite, baby formula via syringe, a tad of mushy food placed on his tongue, massages, carrying him around tucked between my t-shirt and overshirt so he can feel my heartbeat and the list goes on. Sylvia go ahead and pick one of the other available males and if Eric comes through strong and resilient, I'll let you change. Meanwhile I've taken his picture off the available listing.

We have one more litter of 3 (2 m & 1 f). Pictures will be posted later today. Two of the pups are ready for deposits but I want to wait a few days on the 2nd male, he's not feeling good this morning. I would hate for someone to fall in love with him and then something happen.

Most likely it will be next year about this time before we bred again. We've decided the extreme temperatures of both summer and winter are going to be avoided in future breedings because it limits my activities. - Judy

"Crash In The Middle of The Night" Monday - February 23, 2009 2:22 AM
Bob and I were all snug asleep in the bed when down came the $2.39 clothes rack (long story as to why so cheap) with a terrible clatter, partially landing on my bedside table just inches from my head. All the critters were slow to respond meanwhile I could hear Peanut snoring through it all.

We would have immediately gone back to sleep since we were so tired, but I remembered beneath it all was my "white noise" fan still running although smothered in clothes. I told Bob to open the window, we would throw this thing out so the problem would be solved at once and forever. (My attempt at humor) Giggling we told Fluffy, out in the yard barking her head off, to go back to sleep but be on the lookout for invaders later. About that time Jeb awoke and wanted to know why all the chatter. - Judy

"Early Morning Meeting" Sunday - February 22, 2009 10:00 AM
Bob got out of bed and left me asleep. At 4:45 AM, he brought me a cup of coffee and told me it was time to leave to meet English Bulldog Puppy Tina Turner's new family. Finally I dragged myself out of bed, into clothes and out the door. Poor Baby, Tina was scared something pitiful, this being only her second car ride, so she rode in my lap.

What a beautiful family and she fits right in!! I so hope their ride back to Virginia is uneventful and she quickly bonds to the two young ladies of the family who were riding in the back seat of the red Morris Minor with her. I asked how many puppies it would take to trade for the car. They just laughed.

I'm off to do chores, then hopefully I will get a much needed nap. I'll post pictures later. - Judy

"Just Could Not Go There And Do That" Saturday - February 21, 2009 6:00 PM
I woke up at 4:30 AM, Drummer Boy was suppose to go to his new parents at 11:00 AM. I worked feverishly for a couple of hours and then decided maybe I had fever. Checked, no elevated temp so I was good to go ... something was wrong, checked my blood pressure and sure enough it was high, high enough for headache time. I took blood pressure medicine but it had little impact. Finally we decided Big Bob needed to make the 3 hour round trip by himself. Dang I think turning loose of these pups, pops my blood pressure up, bad on my heart which really is tender although few are astute enough to realize this.

Bottomline is Drummer Boy's new parents are wonderful. I could not have wished for better, but he will hold a place in my heart for forever. Pictures will be posted tomorrow. - Judy

PS A lady called wanting to talk "puppies". I said, Excuse me for just a moment" I put my head down between my legs with the "trash can" below. Lord Have Mercy ... OK I'm ready to talk. I'm so afraid of making a wrong decision in regard to the placement of my "babies" that I feel terrible. It is time to take a "time-out".

"Busy Weekend Ahead!!!" Friday - February 20, 2009 1:00 PM
We have a busy weekend ahead, on Saturday Drummer Boy, shown here, goes to his new home and on Sunday Tina Turner is being picked up. Meanwhile I've got lots of catching up to do therefore I probably won't be back on the computer today. I hope you enjoyed the entry for yesterday, I reread it just now and shook my head. lol lol

We're discussing some new features and rearrangement of the website which we will be working on as soon as it warms up enough so I can put the grown critters outside during the mornings. We all have "cabin fever" and it will be so nice to be able to think clearly instead of catering to their whims. Samples of what they are saying this morning give me a bite of what you're eating, me too, me too .... it's mine, it's mine ... need to go to the bathroom, me too, me too ... Jeb wet my bed, did not, did too ... smell chicken cooking, want some NOW, you can't have any, can too ... want to lick puppies, my turn, my turn ..... lol lol - Judy

"Lucy Go To Your Closet And Stay There" Thursday - February 19, 2009 8:40 PM
Lucy (Lucile Ball) is what I call my extravagant side although some people think I'm extravagant all the time lol lol ...
I'm totally frustrated with the radio stations I can "pickup" (tune into) ... for those of you who do not know, we had our TV Dish disconnected for the same reason, therefore do not have TV reception nor have we had it for 8 years or so. Don't miss it and get much more accomplished.

Tonight I announced to Bob I suppose we're just going to have to set up our own local radio station, surely there are enough talkative people around here to help man it with interesting local news, like "time to plant taters" "what makes your gears grind", "shop and swap" ... would that be a local vocal blog??? I only got as far as finding the necessary Government forms before he started snoring, am I to take that for a yes or a no? - Judy

PS: If life ever gets real boring I'll tell you about the young man from France who was on a work exchange program with the corporation I worked for ... they asked me to be his Mama Hen. He swore even the street people did what I told them to do. Actually they did but it was funny to hear him put it that way. lol lol

Another would be I was the State of Tennessee's first single foster parent of a delinquent teenager. A 6 month assignment and it bout did me in. She didn't know anyone who had ever "gone to college" but I knew she was smart. I chipped through red tape so she could take a GED test early and cut through more red tape so she could attend night classes at a local community college. She took two courses and got A's. She went back to the tri-state area of Tennessee when she became 18 and I've never heard from her since, but just maybe I made a difference, all any of us can do is TRY.

Dang I told that whole story in just a few sentences. I could have saved it for another day, but there are other stories such as the one of, 7 delinquent female teenagers going home with me from a halfway house where I was a volunteer. I talked to the houseparents told them I had to go clean house and if any of the girls wanted to go they were welcome. We would clean house, go to a burger joint and giggle our way back by late afternoon. Seven of them crammed themselves into my car, tiny Datsun. lol lol My friend, who came jogging by, almost had a heart attack she was so concerned for my safety. I told her not to worry, if pushed I could get meaner than they were and they knew it, besides they truly did respect me, even liked me.

"My Objective Is To Make You Smile" Thursday - February 19, 2009 10:30 AM
My entries haven't been uplifting lately so I thought I would make you smile by telling you about the Naked Man...
I was working in Memphis during the week and therefore had a small cheap apartment in an old apartment building that I dearly loved. One morning, I'm dressed up in a selection from my corporate executive wardrobe collection complete with medium high heels. As I exit my apartment door, I catch a glimpse of a naked man's backside vanishing down the staircase at the other end of the hall. I started down the nearest (back) staircase and suddenly realized, the man needed assistance. As I looked back I saw the top of his head, he was on the landing between floors. I went back into my apartment, got a sheet and laid it outside my door. I called in a loud voice that I had gotten him a sheet and would be out of the way in just a moment so he could get it. About half way to work I started laughing, a naked man in the hall at 6:30 AM was an unusual experience. I was telling my tale at work and all the ladies expressed fear for my safety. I never considered myself vulnerable to any danger, the young man was trying to hide his nakedness from me, not expose himself. lol lol When I got home the sheet was neatly folded beside my door and there was a "Thank You". I still wonder why he was naked in the hall, but I'll never know. - Judy

"Taking Care Of English Bulldog Babies" Wednesday - February 18, 2009 7:30 PM
I rested for a few minutes then charged back into chores that were in backlog due to me being under the weather. I got most of them inline and ready for completetion before I told Bob if I went one step further I was going to die. So we're closer to completion and have sat down for the night, actually I'm going to be flat out for the night in just a few minutes. God love him, Big Bob is wonderful!!! - Judy

"Taking Care Of English Bulldog Babies" Wednesday - February 18, 2009 5:00 PM
Poor Bob is about to pass out from fatigue. He thought he had some help coming this morning but they were a "no show". I tried to do as much as possible but that left a lot to be desired. I have to admit that most of the time I was playing "kissy face" with puppies, they make me feel warm and fuzzy.

Tomorrow I will try to take pictures for you. - Judy

"Get Up Off My Duff And Get Going!!!" Tuesday - February 17, 2009 9:00 PM
I have created a monster!!!! Mildred called tonight to chat. Her husband Larry is building her a greenhouse but she said they have no idea what they are doing. I first off told her I was going to be jealous then asked why??? Seems the 35 or so Brugmansia, Angel's Trumpets, I gave her last Fall had inspired her!!!! I bet Larry is going to hate me before this is all over. lol lol I so hope I will be able to depart to her all I know about plants, she is such a willing pupil and it is wonderful to pass along knowledge to another person.

Danielle who is getting Drummer Boy, I told them he needed a macho name, called to see when they should expect to get him. I was happy to report that Bob took him in for his "well puppy exam" today and he passed with flying colors. If he had been a female there is no way I would have let him go, with stud muffin Jazzman from a long line of super champions being his father. Goodness what a wonderful "baby".

I so want those who get my "babies" to know that they have received a wonderful treasure. - Judy

"Still Amoung The Living" Sunday - February 15, 2009 8:30 PM
I'm still among the living, just barely. The only time I've been out of bed was to go for a "treatment" on Friday and I had a really bad time riding in the van and walking. I kept thinking I was going to faint. Bob had another couple of stops to make so I slept in the van while he ran into PetSmart for dog food and Sam's for other stuff. He had two more places he needed to stop while we were out but I told him there was "no way" I could stand the movement of the van any longer, just to please get me home. Now I've got to recover my strength for a day or so and I should be good as new. Know that feeling of realizing you are finally getting over the flu, but you're still weak as a kitten, that's where I am now. - Judy

"Lordy" Wednesday - February 11, 2009 - 3:30 PM
I go down for the count and when I poke my head back up out of the covers I find the world in havoc. A terrible storm passed though our area, I'm guessing the wind was 60 MPH ... time to yell out "Gertie grab your drawers" cause if you don't they'll be ripped right off you. Everything that wasn't nailed down, regardless of how heavy, was tossed around. We're still having gusts of 52 MPH or so therefore I'm just letting things lay where they landed.

The blurbs I'm getting on the news sounds like the Democrats have "lost it". I have a double barrel muzzle-loader that is a family heirloom, if I tried to fire it, the kick from it would probably propel me through a wall so it's just for show, but if some crazy person tried to hurt one of the critters or Bob, I'd choose to go through the wall. All my neighbors have guns and if it came down to a crazy critter invading our area they would be quick to come to the rescue ... so what's with this crazy gun law??? I guess none of those folks making the laws have ever lived in the country. And what about those old antique guns that are fixed, not to fire, that I have hanging on the wall above the fireplace. Fine workmanship but not usable, do I have to register those??? What's really funny is a Voter ID battle that's been going on in Mississippi for forever, looks like this gun law is going to override that, cause most everyone has a gun. Down here if there is a home invasion and you kill the sucker, you won't get into trouble with the law ... in my opinion it's a good law, cause if someone were to invade our house with ill intent, I would take action, try to "wing" them and if that didn't do it, I'd be out for doing some serious harm. All that reminded me of the crazy stalker who would send me emails and called with all sorts of threats because I'm a breeder. When she said "I know where you live", I just replied, "I've got a crazy rescue who would love to take you down and if necessary I have an old muzzle-loader primed and ready. If you touch one of my "babies" or my husband, woman I'll be after you." I immediately called the sheriff to report the incident but I never heard from her again. I don't know if it was Big Red or the muzzle-loader that scared her off. There are some crazy people out there and those of us who are not crazy need the ability to protect ourselves. Crazies aren't going to register their guns.

I'm going back to bed before I turn into a Rebel Rouser. - Judy

"Good Lord Have Mercy" Tuesday - February 10, 2009 - 2:00 PM
Well Goodness Gracious, I've been in bed cause every step I take hurts like the devil. I told Bob I was ready for the needles. A friend of ours goes to a doctor a few states over for acupuncture. He's tried to get me to go and I'm about ready. I HATE NEEDLES, but it can't be worse than pain I have when I'm trying to walk. I can't remember an accident or straining so much that it would cause this kind of pain. The way I figure it, must have been 2-3 days ago.

Around 10 AM I heard all sorts of racket coming from downstairs, so I put on clothes and went down, Boy Howdy, did it hurt!!
Bob was feeding the grown Bullies and they were trying to tell him "Me First", silly critters. He thought I was much better and was up for the day .... no way I told him to walk before me up the stairs cause I couldn't do it on my own. I hung on to the back pockets of his jeans and got up the stairs without falling. I was laying in bed and Bob was on his computer ... I asked him to come sit on the bed and tell me what he heard. Mr. Cat had tracked me down, he was outside the window, claws scrapin' the shingles of the roof telling me Bob had not fed him in a day or two, Mr Red Headed Pecherwood was singing his best melody telling me he needed soaked Purina Puppy Chow for his new litter and another bird that I was unable to recognize was chirping away to let me know she needed some Purina Cat Chow.

Not much later, Bob left the bedroom, mumbling Purina Puppy for the Peckerwood and Cat Chow for the unknown bird. I reminded him the Peckerwood had to have soaked/softened Puppy Chow.

Peckerwood isn't a word ... I must have made up up somewhere along the line, but it's my "for real word", so we'll keep on using it. - Judy

"Down For The Count" Monday - February 9, 2009 - 7:00 PM
Darn foolish woman worked toooo hard for toooo long so she was down for the count for two days. Along about Saturday late evening I crawled into bed and there I've been basically for two days. I felt like I had been run over by an 18 wheeler, every step I took hurt me, but I'm up and going now ready to BOOGIE!!

Drummer Boy has been reserved by a nice young couple from Nashville. I told them he needed a macho name, not Drummer Boy. I've spoken to her a couple of times via telephone and believe this is an excellent home for the baby.

I hope the video made you smile.

Be Happy, Healthy and Loved. Judy

"Working Like Dogs" Saturday - February 7, 2009 - 8:10 PM
Just to let you know that we are OK on this end. The high temperature has been in the 60's F for the last two days so we have been working our behinds off washing, drying, sweeping, hosing down porches and taking our gang out to bask in the sun.

A young man came to help with the heavy projects today. He moved the largest plants back onto the porch for me, tomorrow I'll soak them good and proper with water and fertilizer. Wednesday, when it's suppose to go down to 33F at night they will be ready to be brought back into the house. I've damaged my rotor cuff picking up "Fat Boy" Ruckus therefore I could not pick up the plants to take them onto the porch. I'll have to weigh the "Fat Boy" to see just how much he weights. He's due to go into see the vet next week so that will be a good time.

Oh Lordy I have to tell you that he was moved into a crate midday ... he got out of his pool and into the pool of the 2 week old puppies while Bob was outside walking their mother. Fearful of an accident or Mama Bully getting in a snit, Bob brought in a crate for him. He loves the puppies!!!!

Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to accliamte him to a new way of thinking, Bless his "big fat heart", Ruckus, not Bob. lol lol - Judy

"Server Problems" Thursday - February 5, 2009 - 6:25 AM
Finally Bob identified the problem and notified our server representative last night, the fix was made and we're back in business. It seems customers first started reporting the problem on Monday so they had been working to identify it for 3 days. Bob's best guess is one of their programmers wrote and implemented a program to up the allowed space for all the websites on the server but made a mistake which capped them off at the same time.

Jeb, The Champ I awoke to Bob's alarm clock, trying to ignore it I covered my head with a pillow but it just kept getting louder and turned angry, nasty alarm signal, so finally I got up, turned on the light and figured out how to cut it off. My head had just hit the pillow when he came back to bed, we snuggled up and were just about to drift off to sleep ... then the puppies started calling they were cold, wet and hungry. As a team we tackled the problem. Bob picked up each pup, exchanged kisses and snuggling while I cleaned up their area and gave them food. I think he got the best part of that situation. lol lol

We're back upstairs since it's too cold outside to take the grown Bullies out to take care of their business. I could almost hear Jeb whisper to the others "Play 'possum, Weatherman said it's 14 F". In response, Peanut mumbled, "I should have hopped a freight train going South." Jeb's picture is first, then Peanut's all dressed up for vacation.

I hope you have a wonderful day and please remember to pray for those still without electricity due to the storms. - Judy

"3 Dog Morning" Wednesday - February 4, 2009 - 2:30 PM
Oh Lucy ... I promised myself this website would never be political but dang I didn't know things would get this crazy. I just sent a message to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and encourage you to do the same at www.speaker.gov

"3 Dog Morning" Wednesday - February 4, 2009 - 10:30 AM
Strawberry Pie's English Bulldog Litter Strawberry's puppies love grits or maybe it's the butter they loved. I gave each of them a tablespoon full this morning, it was so funny, I suppose this makes them "Southern Bred & Southern Fed". Li'l Cookie is a Yankee Girl cause she's crazy for asparagus. lol lol

We've spent half the morning trying to resolve an upload problem with the website server. Someone changed something overnite and now we can't access the files to upload anything ... not even this journal entry.

Ooops EP is being naughty again, I can tell by the sounds coming from the kitchen. He loves to escape from his storage bucket and go roaming, should have named him The Ramblin' Man. That little whipper snapper, he got out of the BIG storage container he was in and got into a really small one which contains several stuffed animals. lol lol - Judy

"3 Dog Morning" Wednesday - February 4, 2009 - 7:30 AM
It's 15.9 °F here!! Critters are doing u-turns outside, the floor is cold, puppy buckets are on blankets to keep the cold from transferring and we're discussing taking them all back to bed with us. lol lol - Judy

"3 Dog Afternoon" Tuesday - February 3, 2009 - 8:50 PM
It turned out to be a 3 dog afternoon. The temperature started dropping around Noon and it got cold. Presently it is 22 °F and the low tonight is suppose to be 16 °F. It was so cold the "strays that came to stay" jumped unto their dens when I went out onto the back porch. Boomer got it the den with Fluffy so you know it's cold. She's hairy and if she is in the mood she'll let him snuggle. She who must rule isn't often in the mood, but I didn't hear any growling. Poor Dumpy was in a den all by himself.

Moments after Hope's puppies were finished nursing we came upstairs to chill and get ready for bed. I heard the female pup screaming out so Bob went to see what was going on. (I have Erythromelalgia which is a rare condition directly connected to temperature differential, therefore Bob does the running up and down the stairs.) He wasn't able to determine the problem so he brought her up to me. "Honey, she's cold, heat up their Snuggle Safe". Meanwhile she snuggled between my fleece top and t-shirt, stuck her head out turned so that her back is next to my body and had gone to sleep. What a snuggy, warm feeling for both of us.

Then there is Ruckus, who wants to nurture the younger puppies. When the mother's are letting the puppies nurse, he's all eyes, ears and nose, making a small whining sound saying, I could lick and snuggle with them. He is precious!!!

We're off to bed now and I apologize for not posting the pictures as promised ... the puppies and their comfort come first. - Judy

"Say A Prayer" Tuesday - February 3, 2009 - 10:30 AM
Boy Howdy the high emotions and physical activity of Saturday hit me hard yesterday, I was almost down for the count but managed to pull myself up by the seat of my pants to take care of the critters instead of staying in bed like Bob asked me to do. There is just too much for him to do by himself. He is truly a wonderful person ... even if he did eat the beef ribs I asked him to save so I could take a picture of Drummer Boy with them. lol lol

We're expecting a low of 10 F Wednesday night, hopefully there won't be any sleet or snow. The weather website has taken snow out of the immediate forecast. It's 43 F now but we have Northwest winds blowing around 20 miles per hour with gusts near 30 mph. That makes it very uncomfortable to work outside and the critters just wanted to make u-turns this morning instead of staying out and taking care of business.

I'll be back sometime today to post pictures that we've taken over the past 10 days. It takes a lot of time to process them: upload to my computer, edit, size, upload to the website and then add programming code so they will display for you, but we'll get it done today somehow.

If you are a praying person, please add to your prayers the people who are without electricity due to the bad weather and please call your local rescue organization to see if there is anything you can do to help, you are sure to reap the seeds you sow. - Judy

"Spider Bites English Bulldog" Monday - February 2, 2009 - 2:15 PM
I spoke to Rachel, from Detroit, again about her English Bulldog who couldn't walk ... she's still doing great and the vet has called several times to see how she's doing. The vet is having a hard time believing the situation.

In our conversation Rachel was telling me about her Bullies being bitten by spiders. She believes they were Wolf spiders and evidently their bite is life threatening to dogs. She immediately gave the second one who got bit Benadryl, 25 mg per 25 pounds and rushed her to the emergency vet clinic since it was at night. They told her if she had not known to give her the Benadryl that the Bully would never have survived ... moral to this story is for all of us Bully owners to keep a supply of Benadryl on hand in case our dog gets bitten by an insect, especially a spider. - Judy

"Pop Bottle!!" Sunday - February 1, 2009 - 7:40 PM
I could not believe the high here was 66 °F, plus the snow prediction has been removed for Monday, but still on for Tuesday. We took advantage of the perfect weather to let the critters out to play in shifts ... the older girl puppies Sammi & Rosie are far too exuberant to be around the other critters. When the cats saw them coming, up a small tree they went. It's not that they are mean, just full of themselves. lol lol I did some fancy sidestepping which saved me from landing on my behind when they came running by too close. They would have clipped my leg for sure if I hadn't quickly stepped out of the way. Sammi found a coke bottle Melanie had been tossing in the air and boy did they have fun. Rosie is the smartest and she was able to out maneuver Sammi and get the bottle, oops Sammi whirled around and gave chase. They were so much fun.

Bob and I were both busy all day sweeping, washing, drying and cleaning, knowing another day like this wouldn't come along for awhile. I talked to two families wanting one of the puppies, but I had to say no, the circumstances just were not right.

I hope you had a good weekend. - Judy

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 55 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone content that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love, dogs....smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
