![]() A cyst erupted behind her eye. - Judy Friday - 12/30/05 9:00 PM Noel, our little one-eyed monster, got her nose thumped by Bob because she was being defiant, she knew she shouldn't bite his hand, when he told her "no" she stopped, looked at him and commenced to do it even harder with those sharp baby teeth of hers, therefore he thumped her nose. We nip undesirable behavior in the bud around here regardless of the situation. Now she will put her teeth ever so gently on you but she doesn't press hard. Good Girl!!! At Walmart I bought a stuffed toy in the form of a Penguin which has a pressure activated voice box. When it got dirty, I removed the box, put it aside and tossed the stuffed toy in the washing machine. Somehow the voice box got into the crate with Noel and she loves to make it talk. All day and all night the voice comes on saying "Cute & Cuddle Boys, Cute & Cuddle, or Ice Cold Sushi For Breakfast". At first the adult Bullies barked at the unknown voice but now they totally ignore it. Too funny!!! - Judy Friday - 12/30/05 8:00 PM Lord Have Mercy!!! I got a call from a man today who sent $850 to scammer "Bill". When he called the airline that he was given as the method of transportation they told him they do not transport live animals from Nigeria. I added his information to the complaint I filed. Julio and I dug ditches today... well honestly he dug and I used my "ditch-eye" to tell him where he needed to level it off or dig a little deeper. Digging a ditch is not as easy as it sounds.... I couldn't resist putting my hands on the hoe several times, so now I'm so grouchy I've warned wonderful Bob not to even try to carry on a conversation. I just thought my everything hurt... I hurt in places I didn't know I had. I'm off to bed now.... I've got to shake the dust off my tail feathers in the morning and get lots of stuff accomplished. Have a wonderful weekend. - Judy Thursday - 12/29/05 8:00 PM The above Fraud Alert is what I spent the afternoon doing, tracking down the information to file a complaint, etc. Thanks to Nona for alerting me to what she found. Thursday - 12/29/05 9:00 AM A good part of this morning has been spent teaching Reba's babies how to eat mushy food. She is wanting to spend less time with them and more time with me in the kitchen. They now have their eyes open and when I rush to their rescue upon hearing a sharp cry, growl or bark, it's because they are learning to walk but are getting frustrated when they trip over their own feet, their legs slid out from under them or a wrinkle in the bedding causes them to fall face forward. They look like they are inebriated/drunk. Hope you enjoy these pictures. For all 33 pictures click here and scroll down to about the middle of the page. - Judy ![]()
Wednesday - 12/28/05 5:00 PM Remember when you were a kid, went horseback riding and then couldn't move for 5 days without hurting??? That's me. We had to say "Uncle" to Julio. We're not going to work tomorrow. My everything hurts!!!! I'm sending smiles, hugs and best wishes to all of you... as I crawl in bed to rest my weary bones!! (lol lol) - Judy Tuesday - 12/27/05 9:30 AM I absolutely worked too hard yesterday, but this place looks so much better!!! We moved most the BIG plants out to the porch so I can finally walk without having to 'skinny up' to get by a plant. Now that I can get to the smaller plants I have much work to do, but that will have to wait until I can get caught up on answering emails. My INBOX is stuffed with applications for puppies, Christmas Greetings, updated pictures of our Bullies, etc. waiting for me to respond. Please be patient just a while longer. I hope you have a wonderful day - Judy Monday - 12/26/05 3:00 PM Julio came to see if we needed him to work, so I've been working like a dog today so that he could help me with the heavy tasks. He is such a nice person and is willing to do anything I ask.. if he understands what I'm saying. lol We manage. I'm taking a 5 minute break... Monday - 12/26/05 8:00 AM I have a confession, we skipped the turkey and dressing altogether and just ate desserts, but didn't realize it until around 8 PM. lol lol I made the Best Ever Fruitcakes!! I will not eat the "normal" Fruitcake with candied fruit, Yuck!!! BUT I love a good Fruitcake made with dried fruit. These fruitcakes are expensive to make but worth every penny. If you don't want to make it now, copy the recipe for use next year. Best Fruitcake Ever1 lb butter2 cups granulated sugar 8 eggs, well beaten 2 teaspoons salt 3/4 cup buttermilk (or sour milk) 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup dark molasses 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 lbs walnuts or pecans 1 lb chopped prunes 1 lb golden raisins 1 lb raisins seedless 1 cup red current jelly 1 16 oz can of Cherries Jubilee 1 12 oz can Apricot Solo Pastry filling 1 12 oz can Almond Solo Pastry filling 1 12 oz can Date Solo Pastry filling 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon water 7 cups plain flour In order presented, mix the top 8 ingredients with a mixer, add one ingredient at a time. In a very large container, mix in the next 9 ingredients. Then add soda dissolved in water and gently mix in flour, only enough to blend. Pour into 5-6 loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 1 1/2 hours, or until done. Cool 10 minutes in pans, then remove and cool completely. I don't like alcohol on my fruitcake but many people do therefore.... Optional: Place each loaf upside down on woven towel (not terrycloth). Pour about 1/2 cup brandy (or rum) over each loaf, until thoroughly soaked. Wrap the towel around the cake, then add more brandy until the cloth is saturated. (Wrap completely in aluminum foil to prevent making a sticky mess in the cupboard. Store in dark, cool place at least 8 weeks, adding more brandy every week.) I did not try this part. This is a Judy adaption of a 1820's recipe. Sunday - Christmas Day 12/25/05 8:00 AM We believe in Christmas at our house but are low keyed in celebrating ... we got drug into the Christmas crazies one too many times so now we like to take it nice and slow, but make it special, just the two of us with "our gang". Bob cooked the turkey last night so we're ready to heat and eat whenever we decide. We were going to have French toast, strawberries with cream and Mimosas for brunch, but it sounded like more work than we wanted to do so, we nuked day old bear claws pastries instead and settled down with a cup of coffee. We realized we just need to rest today. We have received a special gift; Whiskers the yellow Brug above has 4 open flowers and 8 or so more buds to open. Bob finally bought us both the computer he was looking at when the OLD Cowboy caused me to scurry to his side. This one will be just for pictures which were such a problem to upload using the technology on our present computers, plus they are taking up so much space. There are 4-5000 on the website, plus that many again that haven't been posted but that I'm reluctant to trash. lol I'm the world's worse pack rat and have emails from 1999 - present. We hope you are having a wonderful day!! - Judy Saturday - 12/24/05 5:15 PM Merry Christmas & The Best In 2006Reba's Puppies Random Pictures From TodayClick Here!!!

Saturday - 12/24/05 4 :00 AM We had many things to do yesterday. Our first trip was to Wal-Mart in Corinth, MS to get Bob's prescriptions filled. It took them 2 hours!!! They had to transfer the prescription from the Bolivar, TN Wal-Mart so that took extra time. Then the transfer wasn't correct on one of the two, so they had to request it again. Meanwhile the pharmacist was constantly answering the telephone I suppose the calls were to ask a question about medication, but there were some really ticked off customers waiting for their prescriptions to be filled. Since when does a telephone caller supersede one who is waiting at the counter?? So killing time we walked the store, looking to see if there was something we needed that I didn't have on the "list of things to buy". Bob is not one to stay close at hand so all of a sudden, I find myself being stalked, or whatever you want to call it, by a very old, dressed in black, cowboy in an electric wheelchair. Yes you read that right... every time I turned around here is the "cowboy" racing up behind me or cutting me off up ahead. I'm thinking he's just having fun racing around the store like a kid. But there comes a point where even the most liberal scenario isn't playing right. I finally test the theory that he is circling around me and sure enough... Bob and I continue our shopping and the cowboy is not far way. We decide to go on the other side of the store to get away from him. So Bob is over in the electronics department and I'm trying to find a hat that will cover my ears. I see Cowboy coming down the aisle.. I have choices to make, confront which I'm about ready to do or take flight and find Bob. The easier one to do is go to Bob.... When I find him there is a traffic jam of carts and people being crazy trying to find Christmas presents. Bob says all we need is the Cowboy and I whisper that's why I'm here, he's found me again. I turn around and there he is in his electric wheel chair. We go directly out of the electronics department with Cowboy not 6 feet away trailing us. At this point, I turn to Bob and say I'm ready to go to security... I said it loud so he would hear. A "big" male Wal-mart employee suddenly appears, to which the Cowboy remarks "how do I get out of this store". The employee replies, just follow me and off they go. Meanwhile we decide to "check out" and take the things we've bought to the van, I'm starving and can't wait to open the box of donuts we've have in the cart. Lo and behold there is the Cowboy, he has abandoned his wheelchair and looks like he is trying to find a cashier who doesn't have a long line. Bob whispers, Your Cowboy can walk!! I replied, "he's not my cowboy and I figured that all along". I'm shaking my head because I look like crap and I know it. I have an allergy thing going so my nose matches Rudolph's. Sitting instead of working for the last couple of months has caused weight gain, especially in the tummy and my shoulder length hair is straight, like it always is when I'm not feeling well. So why is this pervert following me around Wal- Mart.. because I'm a Happy Person. Being a Happy Person, attracts other Happy People and those who desperately want to be happy but don't know how. They think if they can hold a "Happy One" then it will become part of them. Brad was asleep in his chair when we got home (he went in at 5am this morning) -- we put her nose up to his ear and he awoke to the sweetest little face sniffing him. He was so surprised! She is such a fiesty little thing. She goes right up to Elle and barks at her and Elle runs to the couch for cover. We have decided to name her Lucinda Louise "Lucy Lou". She got into her food plate (literally) and ate everything I put out for her. She really likes the yogurt in the puppy chow with water. I am going to the store in the am to buy some yogurt to mix in for her. She is truly precious and delicate. I don't remember Elle ever being this small. I know she is worn out from today -- she is asleep now with her snuggle safe, blankets and babies in a really large tote (one side is a wee wee pad). I think she is glad to finally have little (and big) folks away from her for awhile (although she is a social little thing). I can tell she has been loved on and spoiled by you! She gives lots and lots of kisses. I have attached some pictures of Elle and Lucy (can't get one of them together yet - although you can see Elle's rear in the picture where I am holding her) -- maybe tomorrow. I will also try to get some with Brad and Lucy. As you can see, Elle is quite the beauty. I know she will be glad when I go curl up with her (sans baby) for the night. Thank you so much for bringing her into this world and giving her so much love. She is truly a part of our family now and we are thrilled to have her. Please thank Bob for meeting us. He did a great job with the puppy care instructions and was very sweet with the girls. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Take care of yourself!!! Sarah Thursday - 12/22/05 2:50 PM
Wednesday - 12/21/05 4:30 AM Sad news, we had to say Goodbye to Monica yesterday, Dr Frank said it was heart failure she was having a hard time walking and her stomach was bloated. She was one of the sweetest Bullies God ever made, she would have been 11 years old in March.
Also crazy old mutt Big Red (probably 1/2 Boxer or English) bit Julio. He had never bitten anyone
before just acted like it might, so now I have to find a muzzle for him or have him "put
down". I'm not willing to take the chance of him biting another person. We live way out
here in the country but have a lot of company at times. You just
wouldn't believe the number of crazy people in the past who just had to go look at him
although I told them he might bite, he doesn't like odd occurrences.
Bob was moving Red and
didn't have the lead short because he wasn't expecting a problem. Julio had walked Red the
last time he was here. At any rate, Red bit him once as if to say, you'll get more of
that if you cause a problem, never broke stride, just continued out the door. Julio was
on his knees retrieving dog toys, so there is no telling what Red thought but he didn't growl
or bark before he bit. Fortunately he didn't break the skin. So yesterday turned out to be a tearful day, but I'm trying to put Monica's leaving out of my mind and find a solution so I don't have to "put down" Big Red. You know I would tell another person in a heartbeat to stop fooling around and put him down. Deep sigh!!! Deep sigh!!! Deep sigh!!! Tears flowing - Judy PS ABC NEWS report Collierville, TN Isn't this the craziest thing you've ever heard. The owners decided to have their Fox Terrier "put down" to end her misery. The vet faked the death with the poor man in the room, then checked her heart at the request of the man and pronounced her dead. The vet tech who had cared for her was off that day, upon returning to work recognized the dog in a pen with a different name, up for adoption. She told the vet she wanted to adopt her, took her to another vet telling the complete story and was advised the dog should be returned to it's owners. I surely hope people see the importance of getting a second opinion in regard to the health of their beloved furry friends before they decide to "put it down". Though she still is not completely well, Buttons' health has improved thanks to a special no-fat diet prescribed by a new veterinarian. I'd like to say Thanks to Beth for finding the above link for us Tuesday - 12/20/05 10:30 AM I woke up, went downstairs and saw a man walking down the drive toward the house with a load of dog sheets for me to wash... oops the man wasn't Bob ... this man was Black. So I go out on the porch and chat. Julio, who has worked for us before, and Junior are out of work, the local sawmill has closed down for the season, so Julio told him they would take a ride out here to see if we needed them to work. Bob said yes immediately so the three of them are working to get things in order. I told Junior he was my Christmas present and he told me his being able to work today would buy Christmas presents for his family; wife, 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Because I've been able to do very little since the end of October, Bob has had to do it all. He is the most wonderful of humans but sloppy at the best of times, so you can just imagine what this place looks like. These guys can only do the "bulky big jobs" but oh how much it will help. This is truly one of my best Christmas presents ever. - Judy Sunday - 12/18/05 3:30 PM Click Picture To Stop The Parade And Get An Enlarged View.
Sunday - 12/18/05 7:30 AM Just yesterday did I take time out to go to the little big city for "Pig Liver" that sounds so much grosser than Pork Liver. The first time I got it, I just asked for a whole one, not having any idea how big that would be, but it was a big hunk of meat. This time I got 6 livers, whew lots of meat 30 pounds or so. It cooked a good part of the night and I made gravy out of one pan of broth this morning then crumbled up some of the liver into it, kinda like sausage gravy for humans. I can't begin to tell you how much they loved a little of this stirred into their, soaked in water until it is puffy, dog food!! I had them doing the Bully Butt Wiggle, wanting more!! lol Sunday - 12/18/05 6:00 AM Noel is still doing well. There is some drainage which is good I think because it was a bit swollen. She's full of herself, laying on her back, paws playing with the air, flipping over to pounce on a stuff animal, then wanting to be held for a few minutes. Have a calm, peaceful Sunday. - Judy Saturday - 12/17/05 6:00 AM Noel is pouncing on her stuffed doggie and acting like a normal puppy. Whew, maybe we are over this hurdle. Bob checked on her every 3 hours last night and there was nothing out of the ordinary to report. Of course there is still a lot of swelling. Friday - 12/16/05 2:00 PM
It's been an emotional rollercoaster here with puppies, as you already know one of Reba's died
and another has a torn umbilical cord (doing very well!!) ...
one of Miss B's little girls was born with what I think was a dermoid cyst on her neck. It was
expressed, doctored, etc. and we thought the situation was finished. However, when she was
about 3 weeks old, I told Bob to look at the left side of her face, it look slanted or sunken.
The next day it was horrible. We believe there was another cyst behind her eye, or the same one,
which erupted forcing an eye partially out of the socket. There was no doubt she would be blind
in that eye so our options were to have her put down at 3 weeks or do our best to see that she
lived until she was old enough for the eye to be taken out. Our souls dictate we try our best to save life so she had her operation yesterday. The first thing she did upon waking up was want food. Stuff herself good and proper then wanted to be held because she was in pain. I rocked her until she feel asleep which was a good long time. She was fine last night and this morning you wouldn't think she had an operation. Words can't express the pain in our hearts every time we looked at or held the one-eyed "baby", named Noel. The eye was gross, but she had to have special care, so we took a deep breath and what we had to do. I will confess mainly it was Bob doing the caring. He would say something like, "honey don't, let me, we're trying to get you well". We tried to withhold our heart knowing there was a high probability that she would die, but it was impossible. She is going live to be a beautiful one-eyed bully and will be given to a loving person, but not just anyone. If you already have one of our "babies" and would like to recommend a friend or family member please let me know. I don't want to place her in a home with other pets as a safeguard against something happening to the other eye. Have a wonderful weekend - Judy Thursday - 12/15/05 7:30 AM I've woke up with some ideas on how to improve the website also contemplating making it two websites; one for "our gang" and the other for information. If we go to two websites, it will be awhile before we can schedule the rewrite. Reba's puppies are doing fine. The female with the torn umbilical cord went back to the vet yesterday to determine if stitches were needed, Dr Frank said he thought it best not to unless it got worse. Bob is up with them still every 2 hours but he'll probably stretch that out to 3 hours today. I have at least a million things I need to catch up on doing, but feeding and cleaning the puppies is keeping me really busy. Reba is demanding Pig Liver, that sounds so much more gross than Pork Liver. Sassy T her Grandmother use to do the same thing to me when she had a litter of puppies, except Sassy took it a step further and made me hand feed her... she would look up at me, make Bully talkin sounds to get my attention and lick her lips. When I gave her a bowl of food in the puppy pool, she would look down at the "babies" like if I move it will disturb them, so I would give in and fed her one bite at a time out of a spoon. She had me well trained. English Bulldog Puppy For Sale Internet Ad Fraud Alert.... I'm getting calls and emails from people who have made deposits of $300 via Western Union to a scam artist who is using pictures of my puppies. What I've been able to detect so far is the man is from Nigeria, Africa, has California or Florida displayed on his cell phone. I'm advising these people to report the situation to the Internet Fraud Dept of the United States Government. It seems that after they make the deposit they happen upon my website site and see the same pictures as in the ad then they are calling me. Naturally they are in shock when they realize what has happened to them, some I don't think realize it until they actually talk to me. I don't know what he told them that caused them to believe they could get a $1500 puppy for $600.I'm off to take care of the puppies I hear one crying.- Judy "You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him."
