Thursday - January 1, 2004 We wish for you ... love, health and happiness in the New Year!!!! Bob, Judy & "Our Gang" Bob is still sick but continues to take care of Juliet and her babies while I do my best with the other puppies and "our gang". As soon as he gets over this flu, or whatever it is, I'm going to schedule a couple of days with a former employee of our Vet's, to come help me get things in order, until then I'm afraid Bob's germs will infect anyone who visits. If you don't get a response to your email for a few days please do not take it personal, I'm doing all I can. I've just gotten these pictures of Miss B's & PepperJack's Babies, DOB 9/13/03 and wanted to share them with you:
![]() This last picture is of Winston doing what he likes to do best, lay on Mamma and sleep!! ![]()
![]() We received these pictures along with this note: Here are some pictures of our baby "Jazzie" she is getting so big. She is hard headed, we are having trouble training her, but she is getting better everyday. From: Angelia Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 10:01 AM Subject: Adoption I wanted to thank you for all your help with an adoption. My husband and I talked about it over the Holidays and have decided since we were hurt so deeply we are not going to try to adopt another child. I cannot thank you enough for all your help and the out pour of kindness. We still want a puppy this summer. I look so forward to bring home a beautiful little girl to our family. She will have all the love she can stand and then some. Again thank you so much. - Angelia Have a Good Day, watch our for drunk drivers and don't stay up too late tonight!!! - Judy Tuesday - 12/30/03 - 6:00 AM CST
All is well with the puppies, mothers and Juliet, bless her heart. We're brain dead due to
lack of sleep, up every 2 hours with the puppies. Bob got sicker in the evening,
but held his own through the night.Roxie is at it again!!!! I got this email last night. Alec is the young man on the right. From Susie: Roxie was playing with Scott and the boys yesterday. Alec was laying in the floor on his belly and Roxie bit his bottom. No harm done, they were laughing soooooooooo hard. And as you guessed, the more they laughed the more she did it! Soon she had his pants jerked down, she grabbed his pant leg and started backward and left Alec pantless!!!!!!!!! Alec was laughing so hard well they all were. It was like she knew exactly what she was doing! - Susie We warn everyone to never laugh when their Bully does something naughty because they love the sound of laughter and will do it again, and again, and again. We also tell them that at times it's impossible to keep from laughing. Don't be surprised if Roxie doesn't start trying to pull down everyone's pants. Won't the Grandmother be shocked!! (lol lol lol) We were up most of the night with Juliet because she just didn't feel good. Bob feels terrible and we think he is getting the flu. In the early morning with Bob's help Juliet expelled a puppy which had been left in her when the c-section was done. Feeling certain there was another pup he loaded her up and had her at the vet's office when they opened, taking the dead puppy with him as proof. We have never experienced this situation before, but I have heard of it happening. Aside from the horror of the situation, we have many other concerns. Poor Juliet we can't imagine what the impact on her health will be if she has to have 2 c-sections within 24 hours. Due to the real possibility of a severe infection, I will not describe her discharge, we are afraid her milk will "turn" and we will not be able to allow the other puppies to nurse. Bob brought Juliet home because the Senior Vet did an ultrasound which showed there were no more puppies. Minutes after being in the house, she was having contractions and upon examining her, Bob thought he felt a puppy's head, I called the vet's office to let them know he was on his way back. Each trip is 1 1/2 hours plus time there with poor Bob so sick. This time with Bob's help the Vet was able to extract the last puppy, needless to say it was still born. Back home I tried to get Juliet to eat something, anything because if she doesn't she can't produce milk for her "babies" and she won't get better. Finally I got her to eat two boiled eggs, she rejected canned puppy food, buttermilk, cottage cheese, regular milk, the "mother's milk shake" I make up for nursing mothers and turkey. Veterinarians are people and as such make mistakes, we just had two of them make mistakes concerning Juliet. It was costly to us in terms of emotions as well as money, but we've also made mistakes so we are not harboring any hard feelings. It will take some effort but we'll just put this behind us and move forward. - Judy - 9:30 AM CST Boy Howdy, have the last 24 hours been tough!!! I'll tell you all about it a little later. Rest assured that the three new puppies are just fine and so are Sleepy Lady's and Amber's. I'm always reluctant to tell the really bad things that happen because I do so like for my Journal to be upbeat, because that's the way I am!! Gonna make the most of the next 24 hours!! You take care!!! - Judy Whew!!! We got up at 6 AM and started immediately taking care of the puppies. One of us still has to sit with Sleepy Lady when her pups nurse but we can just put Amber with her 3 girls and not have to watch them. All the other 10 inside Bullies had to be let out to potty one or two at a time. If we let out too many, they just play and don't take care of their business. By 8 AM, we were finished with "round one" of the chores. I gave Juliet, bred to King Bizkit, her breakfast and stood watching to see if she ate ... oops not this morning so we strongly suspected she was going into labor. I called the Veterinary Clinic and one of the vets, who was "on call" for the weekend answered instead of the answering machine. He and a helper, were there taking care of the "in house" animals I explained her symptoms and he agreed to meet us at 9:00. By 10 AM, Juliet had via c- section 3 beautiful female puppies. We're holding our breath until the critical first 3 days have passed. Meanwhile we haven't gotten much sleep for weeks because we were up and down thru the night letting puppies nurse and recently we've been checking on Juliet as well. Now we are emotionally and physically drained!! - 6:00 AM CST The Nagles waited months for Smart Cookie's puppies because they had Milton the Bichon and therefore needed a small Bully. This is what I got in an email last night. lol lol Judy - here is a picture of Belcher from today. She and Milton have finally gotten to the point of not only laying next to each other, but Belcher tries to lay on top of him!
From: Chris Sent: Saturday, December 27, 2003 8:09 PM I have a few questions for you. As you know in August, Daddy adopted a grown Bully from a lady in Hattiesburg. He is 2 1/2 years old and has not been neutered. Lately, he has been acting funny. He growls at Daddy. I thought Daddy was being a bit over cautious about this because Clyde, (Peanut's sibling) will growl playfully when he wants to play or wants you to come to him and pet him. Then Daddy came here for Christmas. Rufus was fine and got along with Clyde so we started playing with him but, when you try to take the toy or pull on it a little he growls and it is not a playful growl. Also when you try to make him stop doing something he growls. Tonight he snapped at Daddy over a sock toy. He did not bring blood but, when we tried to put him in his crate, he kept growling and snapping at both of us. I know that Daddy would not do anything mean to the dog to warrant this type of behavior. I was sitting across the couch from him when this happened and it scared me. Do you think that if we were to have him fixed that his attitude would change. Could this be bad breeding or is it normal for males to get aggressive at this age. Clyde was not around so it could not be jealousy or dominance. I do not know what to do. I cannot think of my Daddy being alone with a dog that we cannot trust. Rufus weighs 70 lbs and he could really hurt Daddy if he took the notion to. Please let me know what you would do. - Chris I would load him up still inside the crate and take him to a vet ASAP. I would not let him out until a vet can examine him. If he is sick it can cause a change in personality and become aggressive. I've known of two Bullies with Lymes disease who became aggressive. There are breeders out there who are only after the money and could care less what they are producing!! If the vet can't find anything wrong that would have caused this, my advice is to put him down!!! (Agressive dogs are passed from person to person without resolving the problem and that is how a child or adult ends up getting mauled.) If you can't bring yourself to do this ask the vet to keep him for a few days and give him antibiotics anyway just on the chance that there is an infection that isn't apparent. I would be afraid for your Dad to take him back home with him ... a 70 lb aggressive dog of any breed can kill. PS Years ago my vet told me that any dog will "try you" when they are 6 - 12 months old and you MUST win, if you don't the dog won't be any good for you or himself. It may be that Rufus won the challenge when he was younger and now thinks he's boss. "Tugging on toys" type games can cause aggressive behavior to develop in an alpha dog and I don't know how to reverse this behavior. He was probably subjected to this behavior when he was a pup and it has become a part of his personality. Meet Goose, she's one of Smart Cookie & Mini-E's babies, DOB 8/24/03
![]() As is par for our Southern climate, today's high is to be 58 degrees so we'll be able to work outside. Speaking of which, the reason I'm keeping all these plants inside this winter is because I love my plants and want to make sure they live until spring when they can be placed on the wrap-around porches. They are going to look beautiful. I got so tired re-potting, watering and feeding the other day that I just stopped to do a count, 142 total. That number doesn't accurately reflect the amount of "greenery" because the pots are from 4 to 30 inches across the top and many have multiple plants... Ooops, babies are calling. Have a wonderful day!!! - Judy Bob and I have had an absolutely wonderful Christmas. This morning, I shopped until I couldn't do it any more!!! We got up early checked on Juliet to be sure she wasn't going to go into labor, did the "have to" chores and took off with a breakfast to go, a Mince Meat Pie with two forks. Bob is so flexible!!! The good news is I didn't get a single plant.... fooled you, I had already gotten those on Wednesday at Lowes!!! Eleven 3" pots and four 8" Christmas Cactus hanging baskets in colors I didn't have. All those for just $22. Today I found some great bargains - Caramel Apple Pies and Lemon Pies for $1 each. I don't even eat sweets but for Bob and weekend company I bought 2 of each of the pies and a 8" German Chocolate Cake for $3 at Wal-Mart. I hope they are good, some of their bakery products are GREAT and others, like their rolls have no taste. At Lowe's 75% off sale, we got snow mats for the porches, mega ornaments for a different look to the Christmas tree for next year, pumpkin and spice scented candles, long tapered red and green candles, 100's of outside lights, a wreath, etc., etc......whew!!! I told Bob he must write a story about Peanut trying to help take the trash bags to the truck (to take to the county dumpsters, our area does not have trash pick-up)!! It was so very funny and Peanut was determined!! We're tired now and are going to take a nap. - Judy From Bob, Judy & "Our Gang"!! At 5:00 AM when Peanut started to bark to go out to potty, it was 19 degrees outside. I was thinking he would feel the cold air when door was opened and decide, maybe he didn't have to GO after all, but he didn't seem to notice. Not wanting to chance having to chase down any of the Bullies this morning, I put him in a potty pen. He was so silly, he began jumping on the ice in the watering pool, just to hear it break. When I returned to put Cowboy in the pen beside him, Peanut was still having fun with the ice and hadn't taken care of his business. Later when Bob brought him into the house, he was so cute that as soon as the door shut I bend down and ask for a kiss. Peanut gently put his paws on my shoulders as if to hug me and gave me several kisses...while grunting like a pig. I told him he had to stop grunting or the little children would think he was a PIG, and I don't know of many children who would want to hug a PIG!! He gave me one more grunt and kiss before he rushed to eat his breakfast, Merry Christmas From Mr. Piggy!!! A special Christmas message for Alec & Bronson - Peanut Loves You!!! Here comes Santa Claus.... This is the second year that we have totally enjoyed celebrating both Thanksgiving and soon to be Christmas because I followed my own advice: Holiday Season Bluntness - Stay away from Ugly Acting People. Jealous family members and false friends wound us deeply so don't subject yourselves to them in hopes that this time it will be different, it won't. Be self-wise, protect both yourself and your family by staying away from these people. This Holiday Season enjoy the company only of people who truly appreciate you. I'm going to have to go back to town today to get a second turkey for "our gang" because they ate all of the one Bob cooked for them yesterday. Only scraps remain which I'm going to turn into soup for them by boiling it in a big pot of water then adding rice, english peas, and carrots plus seasonings to the broth. This time I'm going to get the biggest turkey the grocery has. We cooked it mainly for the 3 nursing or pregnant mothers, but the 4 stray dogs and the 2 cats "someone threw away" huddled around the back door all day begging for "more" turkey. Not to be out done, the inside Bullies all sat down politely, like they had been taught to do, and licked their lips, telling us not to feed the outside animals without feeding them. Merry Christmas!!! - Judy & Bob Bob has just completed another Peanut Story, "The Christmas Story". You may view it by clicking HERE!! Be forewarned that it is a Christian Story because that is what we are. - Noon CST Hopeful that if I get the word out to enough people we would be successful, I've sent out about 40 emails entitled "Texas Couple Want To Adopt A Child", which included my posting of 12/18. I have gotten four responses which are dear to my heart. One from a person offering free transportation of the puppy they are planning on getting from us this spring, and an offer to contribute $150 to an adoption fund, if funds were needed. What wonderful hearts these people have. I am proud to call them "my friends". - 9:30 AM CST We have a slow rain this morning so most of the Bullies would elect to stay inside if they had the option .. they don't.
Jeb was really stubborn about even going out onto the
porch. Several minutes later when he didn't come to the door to be let in, I went looking
for him. The moment I called his name which he translated into "the turkey is ready", I heard him
running around the side of the porch where there is just enough room to pass the hot tub but
then the way is blocked by the beds and a windshield I've made for "the strays that came to stay".
Today Dingo, the wild dog, was in the box which was blocking Jeb's path. His
presence didn't phase Jeb as he scrambled pass the flower pot, dodged the water bowl and
began to squeeze past the box/bed. Dingo immediately leaped
out of the bed and off the porch. I've seen Dingo challenge a dog twice his size who was
attempting to come up our driveway, yet he gives way to Jeb who is a third his size. Jeb is overly
friendly but never aggressive so all we can conclude is he gets his way because he's so
"ugly looking" to the strays who've come to stay!!! Of course we think he's beautiful!! The
above picture was taken Saturday, 12/20/03.
This picture was also taken 12/20/03. Jazzman is one of our more demanding Bullies (we got him
when he was 6 months old) and we
have to constantly remind him that he can't start on a barking binge to get whatever he
wants. Normally I just hold up the spray bottle which contains tap water and make a throat
clearing noise. He gets the message. He's super sweet and lovable for hours upon hours ...
after I growl at him (lol lol lol). I bet his personality would have been as good as
Jeb's if he had been sent up north for a couple of months and then brought back down
south. I think Jeb is just thankful for our southern climate so he always charms
everyone, especially the ladies!! (lol lol)Bob roasted "our gang" a turkey in the wee hours of the morning and they knew it's for them. First thing when we got up they started to sit down and licking their lips, in an attempt to let us know they were ready to eat it. How spoiled can they get!! Take care and I hope you have as much fun today as we're having. - Judy Good Morning!!! We moved some furniture over the weekend which was too heavy for just the two of us and we should have know better, but ...... We both strained back muscles but over-the-counter medicine is helping. We needed cabinet space in the kitchen and I knew exactly what I wanted. On a impulse, we visited a "used motel furniture" store and found the exact thing, 6 1/2 feet tall entertainment center armoire combination. We bought two for $260 each. After we got them in the house, I wished we had gotten another one for our bedroom. They are so heavy we couldn't budge them and were forced to remove the doors, television slide out shelf and drawers. Even then we found they were heavier than a large upright freezer.
![]() I ran out of steam and haven't completed the rearranging, but I have gotten a good start. As you will notice in the above picture, one of the drawers is not in place. It will be ready this morning, Bob had to replace the support strip. We didn't reinstall the TV shelves, instead I put the dishes, glasses etc on the top shelf of one, cookbooks on the shelf below which had been used to hold tapes and DVDs and all the plastic junk in a drawer. I hate slippy, sliddy plastic containers but with them being in a drawer it's so convenient. The next drawer now holds kitchen linens, table cloths, etc. I have two more drawers yet to fill in this unit. In the other unit, there is food with glass containers on the top shelf. So far I have one drawer dedicated to crackers, cookies, pasta, and chips with three more as yet empty drawers. They suit our needs exactly, plus Bob didn't have to take time out to make them and I don't believe we could have purchased the necessary supplies to make one for under $260. For those of you who have just begun to visit Judy's Journal, we are building the house with our own hands... Have Mercy!! Have a great day, I'm going to take a BC for my back and get back to work. - Judy I've gotten two people, who have a network of people associated with the adoption process, interested in helping the Texas Couple to find a child for them to adopt, but they want additional information first which I have requested from the couple. I just hope they are taking time out to read their emails. In reference to Growling at your Bully to instill discipline ... growl like you are a DEMON FROM HADES!!! I got the below email about Roxie, daughter of Sleepy & PepperJack, who is a "one of a kind little rascal"!!! I laughed so hard because I could just see her doing this. Below is my favorite picture of Roxie with Bronson & Alec. She looks like she's pouting because she isn't center of attention!!! ![]() Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2003 10:42 PM Subject: the invisible bulldog Judy and Bob, want a good laugh? I was in my kitchen and heard some odd noises coming from downstairs, where Roxie was playing. I went down the stairs and looked around not seeing her anywhere. As I scanned around to the Christmas tree I saw two front paws sticking out from under the tree! "Roxie!" I YELLED. "You get yourself out from under that tree right now!"Well out she belly crawls just like an Egyptian sphinx. And just looked at me like "What?" The whole tree was shaking. I have a set of the Wizard of Oz ornaments and for some unknown reason Roxie has took a liking to Dorothy. She got her off the tree the other night and took poor old Dorothy for quite a ride! Dorothy's hair was soppy when I retrieved her. And yes I was so excited to hear about your growling. I told Scott that you had found our cure for Roxie. So when I tried it she started to growl and loved every minute of it! Just like Priscilla's bully I read about! It makes her run full force straight toward us. Our family room tree looks just awful, the ornaments have been moved to the top and the branches are not straight at all. Oh well, just another day in Roxieland! - Susie My reply was that Santa should bring Roxie a doll with long hair. A lot of Bullies just love hairy things. Jeb has his own blonde haired doll, whom he dearly loves!!! I'm off to clean house. I can't let company catch it in this big of a mess!!! Have a Great Day!!!! - Judy Whew!!! I went grocery shopping yesterday and it is pitiful how much groceries have increased in price during the last 6 weeks, BUT there are going to be some good after Christmas sales!! All the "Christmas" groceries will be pulled from the shelves and then purchased by a Bent & Dent. January will be a good month in which to eat Mince Meat Pie, I paid over $5 for the filling today but in two weeks I can buy all we'll want to eat for $.50 per jar. The Cherry Pie Filling at the grocery is $2 per can and I had to buy multiple cans, but when it reaches the Bent & Dent it will be 3/$1.00. The only problem is the man who runs the B & D that I frequent is retiring and all the other establishments charge much more. I just might have to take his place.(lol lol lol) As if I don't have enough to do!!! Sleepy Lady's puppies are really getting fat and Amber's babies are getting more demanding. I'm going to post pictures of Sleepy's litter later today. I'm off to make a 3 day Coconut Cake, the recipe can be found Here!! Why not start your own Holiday Tradition by making this Heavenly cake. Be careful today, not everyone is of Good Cheer - Judy I'm up with puppies!!! I got this email from Priscilla last night. It just goes to show we can talk to our Bullies: From: Priscilla Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2003 10:00 PM When I growl at the girls (she has 3 dogs), Taz starts growling with me....at the other two.....Chip jumps up and wags her tail cause she thinks it's a big game, and FATIMA does the most excited butt wiggle you've ever seen and gives me about a million kisses - Priscilla Priscilla must have a friendly, sassy growl. I'll have to try that "tone" with our gang and see their reaction. Have a wonderful day. I'm off to get some more sleep.- Judy Anything is possible, just maybe there will be a Christmas Miracle for this couple.... I received the following information on an Application to be a Puppy Parent: Comments: I want a puppy because...my husband and I cannot have children. I had uteruan cancer four years ago and then had a hysterectomy. There was a sweet two year old that a woman had left in a apartment for days that CPS put in our home after six months we tried to adopt but the court decided the mother had her act together. I can never go thru that again. So, I told my husband I still want a daughter and that daughter will be a bulldog. We have a three bedroom home for her to sleep, eat, and be loved in. We have also made arrangements that if something unexpected should happen and we pass, everything will go to our daughter to be taken care of until she passes. We will give her all the love she could ever dream of. My husband and I fell in love with Gabby's sweet face. I would love to have one of her puppies. We are in no rush I am in my mid thirties and my husband late forties. I would like to know any advice you can give us to prepare our home for her. We have a large backyard for her to sunbathe in if she wants we I plant new flowers in the spring and a fireplace in the winter to lay in front of for family Christmas pictures. My family is very excited about the decision we have made. And my mom can't wait to get a new grand baby in the family. Please feel free to call me I get home about 5:30 everyday. I am home all weekend except when we go to Church on Sunday. We have already have a doggie sitter when we want to go to dinner or a movie. My birthday is in March so I am hoping Gabby will have a litter sometime around then. I am sorry if I have talked your ear off. But I thought it would be good if you knew my story. A story of a mother desperately wanting a baby to be in the house to raise and love. Of course I approved this couple for one of our puppies and my response included the following: Do you want me to post your "summary" on Judy's Journal and see if perhaps there is a child available for adoption? You can't ever tell!! I've been instrumental in 2 babies being adopted, actually I found the adoptive parents for the young ladies. At present I don't know of any available children, but ... Does anyone know of a human child, not in the custody of Human Services (they want to keep them in the same state), that these people might adopt? They live in Texas, but if the child is anywhere in the USA a private adoption could be worked out between attorneys and Human Services in the different states. As long as both parents or in the case of an "unknown" father, the mother was willing to allow the adoption, then it could happen!! Email Me At - - bulliegirl@earthlink.net Don't worry my attorney will handle this so everything will be on the up and up!!! Judy - 4:30 AM CST Growling does work.... I've gotten two emails from people saying they tried the "growling" and it worked great, plus my Big Bob growled at Jazzman and obtained good results. He said Jazz just stopped in his tracks as if to ask "What do you want me to do?". Can't you just see yourself getting caught in PetSmart growling at your Bully!! (lol lol) Meet Harley T. Dogg, "but you can call me Dasher" of Chicago, IL. He is the son of Sleepy & PepperJack DOB 12/13/02. He looks like he is enjoying his reindeer antlers, just didn't want to stay still for the pictures. The person with Harley is his owner David.
Puppies are calling so I have to run. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful day!! - Judy This is 1 1/2 year old Rocko, owned by the Carr Family of WV. He is the son of PepperJack & KC (owners Kim & Chuck) Can't you just hear him saying, "I know someone knocked over the Christmas Tree but it wasn't me, I promise!!
![]() His Litter's Page - 7:00 AM CST With me having been sick, the younger Bullies - Cowboy, Peanut, Jazzman and Sugar had just gotten out of hand, barking all the time, pulling me around when on a lead, and just plain acting like they had no manners at all. Bob lets them do what they want and just tries to divert their attention if they are doing something bad, instead of impressing upon them that it is unacceptable behavior. Now that I felt like taking over their care full time, it took me all of one morning and they all had a different attitude ... I growled at them, like a demon to show them I was "the Mama", every time they misbehaved. After that all I had to do was call their name and say "no". I did have to spray water on Jazzman a couple of times because he was determined to bark - because he couldn't wait to be fed, wanted more food, wanted to go outside, wanted Jeb's toy, wanted part of my breakfast, etc. whenever he wanted anything he started to bark and would not stop until he got what he wanted. Using a spray bottle filled with just tap water, I sprayed him straight in the face while saying "NO", again like a demon. Now he will start to bark and I'll say "look at this" and hold up the bottle, immediately he stops. Bob was amazed at how well they were behaving so I told him my secret, although I can't see Bob growling at them, lol lol lol. Take care and have a wonderful day - Judy - 6:00 AM CST Aren't these WONDERFUL!!! The brindle one is Zoe, daughter of Baby Snooks & Elvis DOB 6/14/01, with her adopted brother Otis.
![]() This is Belcher, daughter of Smart Cookie & Mini-E DOB 8/24/03, modeling her "chopper hat". This girl is ready for the snow!!! ![]() This is Lily, her owners are Wendy & Curtis, who are friends of our friends Michelle & Floyd. Can't you just hear her saying, My name's Lily, not Dasher and I don't have a big belly!!
..... another email. This one is about Roxie, daughter of Sleepy & PepperJack, who is a "one of a kind little rascal"!!! From: Susie Sent: Sunday, December 14, 2003 10:03 PM I've read about the P-nuttiest Peanut to the boys only a few thousand times. They belly laugh! We have around 1/2 inch of snow, It sends Roxie into a wild rage! She starts eating the snow and then it goes into, the butt in the air, chest on the ground, sneaky look around and then she bolts around the yard. The neighbors think she is nuts I'm sure. On the 13th Roxie turned one!!! We got here a new nyla bone and some dog cookies. I wrapped them and the boys were so excited! She was so proud of here new prizes. My brother came by today and he couldn't get over how she bully butt wiggled. He laughed and said "she wants to be loved on every minute." Take care, keep warm and love on " Little Mr. Crooked Jaw" for us. That is what Alec called Peanut the other night. It was so sweet. ![]() You just have to read this email about our Precious, a friendly lovable Southern Bully who's now living in Brooklyn, NY From: "Tristin Laughter" Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2003 12:10 PM ......Precious is wonderful. She's great. She's so insanely friendly; now that she can walk outside she makes like Will Rogers and "Never met a man (woman, dog, bird, leaf) she didn't like"! She is so loving and happy towards everyone - I wish I was more like her. This morning I was walking her about 7 AM in the hopes of a pee pee (YES! It happened!) and she tried to say hi to this businessman undoubtedly on his way to the subway. "Get your dog out of my way" he sniped at me and I thought, aren't I the lucky one ... with her around, I won't ever be so cold and negative - she won't let me! I got briefly mad at her that she peed on the couch for the second time today and she followed me around, licking my legs and trying to make eye contact until I gave in - like 10 minutes later. She is the living embodiment of the idea that life is too short for anything but love.... From the moment she was born I knew she was "special". I gave Tristin some hints on the couch wetting situation. - Judy I've gotten two very interesting emails about Bullies in the past few days and I have to share these excerpts with you. From: "Terry Novell" (She had a litter of pups not too long ago - Judy) Sent: Monday, December 08, 2003 12:14 PM ....We or I should say my daughter ended up keeping one of Gabbi's puppies. She is Munchkyn. She is almost completely white except for her face and when she gets upset she turns pink. She is a Bulldog with a attitude. When I took her for her last shots, she loved the vet and then it happened .. he cut her fingernails. She got so mad that when he bent down to give her a treat she turned completely around and put her bottom in his face!! Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2003 9:12 AM Since I read everyday about your happenings I have to tell you about my yesterday. About 8 AM, I noticed a knot on the inside of Tima's left back leg, above her foot and below her hock (elbow?) I tried to clean it, it was scabbed over and started bleeding. I got dressed, (supposed to be at work at noon), called the vet and threw her in the car and took her in to be checked out. My regular vet wasn't in so I saw someone else....one of those young guys...I like my doctors with gray hair. Anyway, he tried to aspirate the lump, looked at some cells under the microscope, told me he was 90% sure it was caused by trauma and to spray it with some medicine he gave me three times a day. BUT if it wasn't gone by the first of the year, or if it got bigger to bring her back and they would send the slide off to a pathologist to check for cancer cells. Or I could have him send it off now and know something in about 4 days. I opted to wait cause I was so shocked by what he said. I just took her home. (Note: This Vet really did put Priscila in shock and shame on him for doing so!!- Judy) By then it was time to leave for work, opened the gate and started backing out of the driveway...my mind going 90 miles an hour thinking about how Timmy could have hurt the inside of her leg ... and forgot to shut the car door. The driver's door on my Miata (cute little sports car) hit the open gate and the driver's window glass shattered. What a mess. When I got to work I was upset...still worrying about Tima. I parked my car close to the garden dept (she works at Home Depot) and asked the guys there to keep an eye on it since I couldn't lock it up. They got worried about the possibility of rain and shrink-wrapped my car. At 9 last night in the pouring rain I was standing in the parking lot trying to get shrink-wrap off the car...but it was dry inside!!!.... Poor Priscilla she really had a Lucy Day!! I could just really fuss at that Vet. - Judy Prior Judy's Journal - November, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal - October, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal - September, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal - August, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal - July, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal -June, 2003 Prior Judy's Journal Page, April - June 15, 2003 Prior Event Page January - April 2003 "We have one mission in life, and that mission is to love" - Mother Theresa Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 50 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone contend that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love dogs… smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs. |
