This is a private residence, we are not a company. This telephone number is on the State of Tennessee and Federal NO CALL lists for telemarketers.

Please do not call me in reference to when we will have available puppies, I will post that information on the website when the time is appropriate. Be polite and you will receive same in return, but if you are rude (don't call me Judy if you refer to yourself as Mr. or Mrs. I'm not beneath you in life's pecking order) or ask explicate sexual questions about breeding, I'll say goodbye and hang up the telephone.

"Flowers from Judy's Garden Party...", Thursday - April 30, 2009 10:30 AM

We went into the flower garden yesterday to admire the Creator's handiwork. I do admire Judy's ability to poke a stick in the ground and have it grow -- she has a 'gift'! She says the way to grow iris is to scrape out a square of dirt, lay the rhizomes in the dirt and (barely) cover them with potting soil. Then stand back and watch them grow. Be sure to snap pictures when they bloom.

"Bob & I Keep Each Other Awake During The Night Coughing", Wednesday - April 29, 2009 7:30 AM
I'm sick of this crud and need to do something, even if it is wrong. I havn't had any sleep all night because one of us disturbed the other coughing. I fixed Bob at least four, 2 tablespoons of Evan Williams combined with 2 tablespoons of water potions. I took Chinese Herbs every 3 hours which really helped me. BUT Goodness Gracious this is just too much. Both of us should have been over this crud days ago.

Both of us are foggy headed and this just has to stop. I have at least a quarter acre of Iris in bloom ... I can't even go out there to see what they look like. - Judy

"A Baby Is Crying", Tuesday - April 28, 2009 4:30 PM
I kept waking up last night because I heard a baby crying. Knowing we don't have a baby, I'd drift back to sleep. Finally I woke up Bob and said "listen, do you hear a baby crying"? Sure enough he did also. I told him if someone has left a baby on the porch I'm going to hunt them down and give them a good thrashin'.

We heard it again so he went downstairs to see what was going on ... no baby did he find. By this time I'm back to coughing and had to sit up it was so bad. About 30 minutes later, Mr Cat like to have scared me to death. He was on the roof of the porch, sitting at the window by my computer. I saw a shadow of movement and then a baby cry. It took me a minute to figure out it was him. That dang cat. - Judy

"Emails with pics! OK now...", Monday - April 27, 2009 6:00 AM
Jason called and said, Ms. Judy I need to be added to the "club". I tried to send pictures of Jack to Mr. Bob several times and the computer would respond that they would notify him and asking if he allow emails with attachments to be sent from my email address.

I told him Big Bob had been down with this "flu" and too foggy headed to understand much. I knew how bad off he really was when he said, I figured the income tax and we don't owe anything. I told him to wait a few days and do it again. Although we are both retired and raising Bullies is an expensive but pleasurable hobby, we normally have to pay more on 4/15 than we've already paid in!!!

Mrs. Judy!!!!
I just wanted to see how all of y'all are doing. I have been meaning to write you sooner but we have been so busy. Jack is doing wonderful! He is getting sooo big. He can now use the doggie door!!!! Thank god!!!! Ha ha. I am going to call you soon so I can tell you all about our wonderful baby. Hope you and Mr. Bob get to feeling better

Jason, Kathy, and Jack (flap jack)

Hi Bob and Judy,
Glad to see you all are finally feeling better. Winston is adjusting perfectly to his new home!! He went to the vet and they said he was in perfect health! He's getting bigger every week!! I attatched a couple new pictures.

"Surgical Mask", Sunday - April 26, 2009 3:00 PM
So let people laugh at you, it's better than being dead ....
I've been prone to get bronchitis ever since I had the lower left lobe of my lung removed due to a cancerous tumor, but I don't get the flu so I didn't get a flu shot, not that it would have done any good against this stuff. In our rural area there a many Mexicans, plus Mennonites who travel to Mexico for medical treatments. The CDC has no idea of what is happening. Wear a surgical mask and let people laugh, you'll have the last laugh. - Judy

"Almost No Fever", Saturday - April 25, 2009 10:00 AM
I woke Bob up to ask him if he had thrown out spilled or uneaten Puppy Chow lately. He groggily replied "NO". I told him to go soak that dang Woodpecker some Puppy Chow so he, I firmly believe it's a he, will leave me alone. It's been at the window since 5 AM and even brought the young one over to squawk at me.

I know I have fever and am prone toward hallucinations but it's gotten too weird here even for me. Yesterday afternoon I called down to Bob and he came upstairs. We have up kiddie gates so the critters can't get into the "front rooms", well excuse me, Melanie came bounding up the stairs and into the bedroom, jumped that kiddie gate with one stride I'm sure. She did her submissive mode thing a couple of times at my feet, then urgently went to Bob to tell him something was not right and he needed to come right away.

He had left her in charge of Jerri Lee but Jerri Lee wasn't minding and Melanie needed permission to nip him. Now isn't that one of the craziest things you have ever been told. She and Jerri Lee have this routine but he was being stubborn, just like a Bully, Melanie is a routine kind of gal. lol lol

Took in this beautiful German Shepherd because she had heart worms and we didn't want her "put down". What a beautiful package she is. - Judy

"Swine Flu", Friday - April 24, 2009 5:30 PM
I could have told the CDC there was a NASTY flu outbreak. So nasty I didn't want to infect the local doctor or her staff. I picked this stuff up over in Alabama. In less than 36 hours after the woman coughed on me I was knocked down hard. It's been four weeks already ... four weeks of my life stolen from me and if I wasn't such a tough old bird I would have probably been dead. Every time I get up and try to "go", whack and I'm back down again.

Now for the fun part .... Mildred if Larry is overly romantic, take away the herbs. I think they must be aphrodisiacs!!! Oh Lordy I have this male Bully who hasn't made the grade lately. Maybe I should slip him some in his food. If that works, every man reading this will want to know Larry's secret formula. lol lol

I know I'm bad ... but fever does this to me. - Judy

PS If anyone sees a picture of an Iris they want a start of, call me next week and let me know while they are still blooming.

"Pollen Alert", Thursday - April 23, 2009 4:30 PM
Bob has threatened to hog tie me, throw me over his shoulder and take me to a doctor ... if I don't stay in bed until I have "no fever". He's scared I might have cancer again. I can see his point and I'm trying to be "good" but dang it's hard. Earlier I managed to go outside to find that everything, I mean everything, is covered in yellow pollen, which Bob calls "tree pollen" and he's probably right. I suppose those 50-60 miles per hour winds just made the pollen rain down. Now what I need is a good storm to come in and wash it all away.

It's been crazy here today. The "tin man delivered" the new tin for the "barn". The mail man came with horn blazing, because I told him to do that if he has a priority package that needs a delivery verification. The phone has been ringing off the hook, crazy people wanting to know when I'll have puppies. Do these people not know how to read the information on the web site.

I'm going back to bed now. Tomorrow I will post a story about George, 80 something year old man who was determined to dance, dance, dance his days away. - Judy

"Naked Lady At the Door", Wednesday - April 22, 2009 3:30 AM
Just let me shake this fever and I'll be alright .... Meanwhile I'll tell you about one of my many adventures.

A very lucrative offer from a company in Memphis had me burning up the highway between here and there where I was attempting to sort out a bookkeeping mess. I have this knack of reaching in to a pile of papers and pulling out THE ONE that was meaningful. End of the year financial time so many people are working late. A lady in the 2nd floor department where I have a desk alerts me to the fact that something is going down. I look out the window and there is a naked woman at the back door .... well dang. I snatched up a blanket from the desk of one of the "cold natured" ladies and headed down the stairs. This poor woman is banging on the back door desperate to get into our building, to safety, but everyone is just staring. I opened the double doors and tossed the blanket to her as I locked the doors behind her.

By this time a female VP has surfaced. I walked past her, escorting the woman into the ladies lounge. Of course the woman is crying, bleeding etc. I got her towels both wet and dry and sat down beside her on a bench. The female VP makes her entry at which point I ask if she would please leave. The lady is calming down and I told her I had to ask her some questions .. first off if she was a "lady of the evening" to which she nodded her head yes. I asked if her "John" had done this to her, to which she nodded yes. I told her I was sorry she had been hurt, so she told her story. She felt certain he was going to kill her so she jumped out of the moving car. I was now certain that there was no danger lurking for the 40 something ladies in the building working to produce the end of the year report. Relief!!! About that time the police showed up, two patrol officers walked into the lounge. I told them what she had said, they knew her well. Said she was probably trying to steal the guy's wallet while he was hot and bothered, typical of her behavior. I asked if they were going to take her home, they said no. So I told them I would. I had promised her if she would talk to me that I would see to it that she got home. They looked at me like I was crazy but agreed to take her where she wanted to go.

The next day many people, including company security, wanted to know why I let her into the building. Well it was evident she didn't have a hidden weapon and I needed to know if the people in the building were in danger. A woman sat down in the chair beside my desk and asked why did I let her inside? I replied, walk a mile in her shoes before you judge her. - Judy

"Home Is Where The Heart Is", Tuesday - April 21, 2009 4:00 PM
I can't even run away from home .... When I have a really elevated temperature I'm susceptible to hallucinations. So here I am in my gown-tail wanting to run away from the high temp which means running away from home, when suddenly I realize it's fruitless. Best I would be able to do is drive south to a small motel and sure as shooting if I go in there waving a credit card in my gown-tail they are going to call for a Sheriff's deputy who I probably know and he'll just call his wife to come drive me and the van back home. You see that's how it is in the rural south. I could just hear him say, Ms Judy them Bullies and Mr. Bob need you back home.

Mildred this entry is for you. lol lol I hope I made you laugh. Hugs to all. - Judy

"Back To Bed You Silly PuppyGal", Sunday - April 19, 2009 11:30 PM
I was up most of last night because Bob was coughing. I finally drifted off to sleep around 5 AM, slept until 2:30 PM and was not feeling all that chipper. Bob had taken care of the critters so I fixed us some food, we sat on the side porch and soaked in all the wildlife around us, it sounded like a jungle. We feel certain that "big bird" was a wild turkey which lives in the hollow not too far from the house, although I didn't hear any "gobble, gobble" sounds. lol lol In years pass we've spied them foraging in front of the house, maybe less than 20 feet from the porch. Temperature is back up so I did "no brainer" stuff for 3 hours or so. Then the temp was higher so I sat at my computer and did more "no brainer" stuff.

Just now Bob wakes me up coughing so bad I'm afraid he will choke. I make him a whiskey and water, then rush down stairs to make hot green tea with fresh lemon juice. He's beginning to ease out of this coughing spasm. I ask him to please eat the lemon pulp because it still has a lot of juice in it and will cut the phlegm.

As you can see we've changed places, I'm now taking care of him. - Judy

"My First Entire Day Out Of Bed!!!", Sunday - April 19, 2009 2:30 PM
The sun is shinning, it's around 70 F and I have the back door open to air out the house, no screen door. I'm putting a load of clothes into the washer when in strolls Dumpy. He never comes into the house. I let him follow me back outside then did a quick turn around and came upstairs to the computer to check the weather. Dumpy is right there is a line of storms with hail moving down the Tennessee - Mississippi state line. One is aimed right at us. The pattern is much the same as the ones that passed through here last week then turned into a tornado in middle Tennessee. - Judy

"My First Entire Day Out Of Bed!!!", Saturday - April 18, 2009 7:30 PM
Although I am not over this crud yet, still have an elevated temperature and lingering cough, I was up all day!!! Thank The Good Lord!

I'm still as foggy headed as can be but I managed to cook Bob a pie and clothes washing can be done without having a clear head. I am getting better every day, just not ready to do any dancing that's for sure.

Just wanted to share the good news with you. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend ... stay away from coughing people!! - Judy

"Hot Body", Friday - April 17, 2009 11:30 PM
Be careful what you wish for ... I always wanted a HOT BODY, however a high fever was not part of my scenario. lol lol

"Ruckus", Friday - April 17, 2009 10:30 PM
Yesterday when I had him outside and he got finished with his business, I just motioned for him to come and he responded immediately ... not today. Off he ran to all the outside runs where Bob had put some of the Bullies to do their business, exercise and get some fresh air. He walked around each run like "look at me, I can do anything I want". Calling him was of no value and I couldn't find a lead, but I found Bob who had a lead around his neck and of course Melanie. Bob told Melanie to "go up" and into the house she trotted with Ruckus following close behind. Once he was inside I closed the one door and Melanie made a dash to another door which was open. It's her job to train the Bullies and she takes her work seriously. Ruckus is too smart for his own good.

Each day we are feeling a little better. - Judy

"Big Bird", Thursday - April 16, 2009 8:00 PM
All those dang seeds I planted are either dried out, as in dead, or have sprouted but were so dry. I carried them out onto the back porch gave them a good misting and will hope for the best. Meanwhile, I'm out there by myself since the "strays that came to stay" were off on a hunt and I didn't bring any of the Bullies out afraid they would be too nosy about what I was doing. There was a very LOUD, kinda woody "cluck, cluck, cluck" then a song similar to that of a woodpecker. There was a crow which might have been after it or flying away from it giving out with a crow cackle. The comparison of the loudness was astounding ... I went in search of Bob. I told him he had to come downstairs if not to hear the bird, to be with me if those dang "stays" ran a 300 lb bird up on the porch (remember the 300-400 lb sow). Once on the porch there were only small bird sounds. He turned to me and asked, how long it had been since I took my temperature. lol lol

"Attitude Is Everything", Thursday - April 16, 2009 2:00 PM
We've got a man who is to do some work on an outbuilding we call the barn. He told me yesterday he hoped to start in a week or so, but knowing the construction business that's probably wishful scheduling. At any rate as soon as the work is finished, I'm making an appointment with Larry's physician- acupuncturist. I'm ready to be turned into a porcupine!!!

I was only able to work about 3 hours yesterday before my temperature popped back up, so I'm going slower today. I only did piddlin' things because I didn't have enough strength or sense to do anything important but I'll admit to having a little fun ... the Bullies kept begging me to join them in doing the Bully Butt Wiggle which sure made me laugh. I guess they figured if they could get me to join in it would mean I was going to start back cooking them "good stuff". lol lol Little Beggars!!

In some way enjoy each and every day. - Judy

"Boy Howdy Larry", Wednesday - April 15, 2009 10:30 AM
My friend Mildred called Monday evening to tell me I had to get well because my postings made her laugh, but hadn't been too funny of late. She offered to cook food or anything else we needed for her to do. You know some people say those words, but Mildred means each and every one.

A little while later her husband Larry called wanting to offer assistance. He's the one who goes to the alternative medicine doctor. Told me he had about this same cold/flu a while back and had gone to a regular doctor twice but it hadn't helped. He had to grab a pillow when he coughed it hurt so bad. He said he was ready for someone to hit him in the head to get him out of his misery, Doggone could I relate. Said then he went to the alternative medicine doctor got herbal medicine and within 12 hours was so much better he was amazed. Wanted to know if I wanted him to bring over the medicine so I could give it a try. Things look so bad here ... dog bed sheets piled upon the back porch, baskets of stuff put out there when I got on my spring cleaning kick just before I encountered the coughing lady, a great many flower pots (tiny, small, medium and giants) and anything not nailed down were blown all over the place when those 50 mile per hour winds and hail hit. Bob's been doing the best he could but then he got down, etc. etc. (Point: The Odd Couple TV Show - He's Oscar and I'm Felix) So I suggested Bob go to their house. After I hung up, Bob said he couldn't drive anywhere to which I responded, not even to Larry & Mildred's (they live a short distance away).

The long and short of it was within an hour of taking the herbs, I knew it was going to work for me. I could feel my swollen sinus passages and trachea dilate. Now this is remarkable since Monday morning it was so bad I started to cough up a bit of blood. Thank you Larry & Mildred, I'm on the verge of recovery. Bob is still pretty sick. Of course he's had the full load of work to do in spite of being sick. He insists I not lift a finger until my temperature is normal.

Yesterday morning, I was determined to go downstairs and fix a light meal while Bob walked the Bullies. I was immediately converged upon by all the critters: bullies barking and pawing me for attention, birds started calling out, the "strays that came to stay" knew there was excitement so they gathered at the back door bouncing with delight, the cats came running also and started rubbing themselves on the door frame, crying out for their "mama". All the confusion was overwhelming. Then Fluffy, who must be queen, charged off down the drive, I got to a window just in time to see her hot in pursuit of a small brown puppy. Her excitement triggered Dumpy and Boomer into pursuit ... I immediately started calling out "kitty, kitty" to make them come back to the house before they hurt it. I knew there were two female dogs in the neighborhood who had litters of unwanted pups, I had seen them on the road just before I got sick. I do so hope I get well enough to go round them up before they are run over or otherwise killed.

Lord Have Mercy, who could even think about cooking with dirty dishes piled everywhere, molded bread, fuzzy lemons and rotting fruit ... "Oscar" has been in charge!! lol lol God Love Him, he takes good care of the critters and me. - Judy

"Cough, Cough, Cough", Sunday - April 12, 2009 8:45 PM
Bob is coughing so hard it's hurting my ears. I'm getting better although I had a 102 F temperature last night. I decided to do something productive, fun and rewarding. I took a tour of my "little piece of Heaven" ... so what if I was in my gown, we're off road and it was very doubtful anyone would come while I was out there. Actually it's made of old flannel type material that's 30 years old, has a couple of small tears and really should go in the dog bed pile, but I love it, so each time I put it in the pile I end up pulling it back out, it's my comfort gown and has served me well.

"Spring is here!!", Saturday - April 11, 2009 4 PM
Judy is still under the weather and I'm joining her in coughing and sneezing-- (but not as bad as she).
The cold weather, hail and wind gusts that we had in the last couple of days were not kind to Judy's flowers but some survived.

The peaches seemed to be doing well in spite of the near freezing temps.

"Hail Yes!!", Friday - April 10, 2009 11:45
A storm came up through Mississippi and about the time it crossed the state line mega hail cells developed. One is battering my plants as I type. Fortunately, several other cells went around us. I'll check for damage once I get over this crud.

I wish for you a good weekend. - Judy

"Who Made The Dogs Bark???", Wednesday - April 8, 2009 8:30 AM
At 4:15 AM a truck came through the area ... a big loud truck. This is a "no thru truck area" so what the devil is going on. Once awake I start coughing which made the dogs bark and Blaze the Sun Conure squawk. I had suggested to Bob that he sleep downstairs so perhaps my coughing would not disturb him. At 7:00 AM or so he brought a water bottle and a bottle of Jack Daniels up because my coughing was so bad. I can't believe he slept through all my "noise". Going back to bed now. I surely hope none of you get this. I don't know why that woman kept getting up under my armpit and coughing, but I guarantee you the next time a situation like that arises, I'm going to run screaming from the store. - Judy

PS Mr Cat came looking for me a couple of days ago and the woodpecker perched on the limb outside the window for a while this morning, singing away, then telling me it wanted some soaked dog food. That means they have new hatchings. I hadn't seen them for several days before I got sick and wondered about them.

"Giggling", Tuesday - April 7, 2009 4:45 PM
I woke myself up singing "I think I died and I did not go to heaven" then started giggling. Quickly Bob took my temperature, then washed me down in alchol. I turned back over and went to sleep. Poor Bob was afraid to leave me. I would kind of wake up, tell him I was fine, each time he responded "Sure you are". This is some awful stuff but I'm crawling out of my hole slowly, very slowly. - Judy

"Eric arrives at his new home!", Sunday - April 5, 2009 6:30 PM

Hi Judy & Bob

I hope you are feeling better and will soon be back to 100%. I just wanted to let you know Eric is doing great. I can't tell you what a great addition he is to my life. I look forward to many years of happiness together.

He was a perfect gentleman on our ride back to middle Tennessee. Friday afternoon we went for his new puppy check-up with his new Vet. Dianna and I think he was a little nervous at first as he got the hiccups. She said he was a wonderful puppy and in excellent health. Dianna has an English bull dog of her own so I feel confident she will take good care if him. He has a follow-up in three and maybe this time he want be as nervous.

I think he likes his new home; he has the run of our 16’X16’ puppy proof sunroom. I purchased one of the 24 X 36 cages you suggested and put his bed in the back and with the door open he comes and goes as he pleases. I placed his royal cushion just outside his cage and so far that is his favorite place.

I let my youngest granddaughter come by to say hello and she fell in love with him…and maybe a little jealous.

Again, I hope you are feeling better, and thanks for my wonderful puppy, Eric

Wess

-----------------Reply---------------------- Hi Wess!

Judy just loves the blanket that you gave her. She's been in bed and hasn't had a chance to use the umbrella but she knows she'll love it too! Thanks many times.

The pictures are great! And Eric seems to be happy with the attention and having a new daddy!

Please keep us updated on his adventures. Does he make you laugh?

OO-OO Got an Email about Winston...

Hi Bob & Judy!!

I have been on the website looking at the new puppies and how they are doing
and saw that Judy is very much under the weather.........
Please tell her that I hope she is feeling better soon.
And that Winston is adjusting GREAT to his new home,
the potty training is going so good...he is such a smart dog!!
He keeps us laughing all the time.
He is just great great great all around!!

I know Judy said that you all did not have a TV,
well funny story we do -- and when winston first saw it on it was hilarious!

He stood there for what seemed like forever just tilting his little head
back and forth like what in the world is this. He sometimes just sits and watches :)
I may have to limit his tv time lol

I noticed that Rolo hasn't been picked up or maybe just no pics... did he get to go to his new home ?? Hope he is okay too!! [Judy sez: Rolo did get picked up by a great couple and is in New Jersey

Bob forgot the camera...]

Wish Judy well!!

Judy is getting better. She's starting to be mischievious. The house coat that she's wearing in the photo is 15 sizes too large that she picked up at the thrift store (for her puppies).

Judy just 'loves' her new blanket!! Thank you, Wes!

"Kassy visits vet...", Friday - April 3, 2009 12:30 PM

To PuppyGal:

I am so sorry you are not feeling well.
I really hate a nasty cold, all you can do is rest and wait it out sometimes.
And I know you both work hard all the time.

Had to take Kassy to the vet today because she had a little blood in her poo.
After all the testing for everything, found out the Eukanuba was too rich for her.
She wasn't digesting it, so they told me to go back to Puppy Chow only.
And now she seems ok.

The vet said all puppies are different and that she was extremely healthy.

Here are her pink ball pictures. She is definitely one in a million.
We all love her so much! Get well.

"Pneumonia??", Friday - April 3, 2009 6:00 AM
Judy says thank you all for your concern about her illness! I (Bob) think that it's pneumonia but Judy says that "I've had pneumonia and it hurts worse than what I've got now..."

And Judy says 'Thanks' for the wine, cards, pictures of her "babies" going to their new homes. And thankee for the blankee, Wes!

Bob

"Eric Clapton Pick Up", Thursday - April 2, 2009 6:00 PM
Judy selected the perfect new daddy for Eric out of many candidates. So, this morning, Bob met with Wes in Corinth, Mississippi with Eric. Judy is under the weather (maybe bronchial pneumonia) and stayed home. Eric is VERY special: smart, cuddly, and wrinkly! As you can tell from the photographs, Wes was very happy with Eric!

"Now I Lay Me", Thursday - April 2, 2009 3:45 PM
I woke up starving. I haven't had anything to eat in at least 48 hours. I called to Bob but he must be out tending to the critters. Meanwhile I hear "Now I lay Me Down To Sleep" over and over again. Is this a combination of lack of sleep and food, plus a high temperature?? I creep down the stairs to find Jerri Lee playing with his "baby" who is playing over and over again "Now I lay me down to sleep". There is a pie on the stove top, I gobble down a few bites and come back upstairs to bed. - Judy

Speaking of stove, the electronic sensors were giving a code which indicated the major component of the control system needed to be replaced ... but I don't allow anyone inside the house when we have puppies, due to the dreaded puppy viruses which can kill them, we haven't had it replace. We've done without a stove for 5 weeks or so and all of a sudden the dang thing starts to working.

"Oh Mercy!", Thursday - April 2, 2009 2:30 AM
Bob and I are at odds. He swears I have pneumonia and most likely he is right, green mucus coughed up from my lungs, but I'm not going to the doctor, sick people go there and I'm libel to get something worse if I go to the doctor, waiting room full of germs. I should have left the store the first time I heard the coughing lady .... am I weird or what??? I told him I'll know when I need to go to ER but until then I'm going to deal with this on my own ... amoxiicillan, Mott's 100% Fruit Juice Popsicles, antihistamine, Aleve and bed rest. Dang I hate to be sidelined. - Judy

"Storm With Hail Headed Toward Us", Tuesday - March 31, 2009 10:45 AM
There is a large storm heading north, up through Mississippi, with a couple of cells containing hail looking like they are sure to move right through our place. The critters will hunker down and we won't hear a peep from them. That's good, but my newly planted Angel's Trumpets will get beaten up if indeed we get hail. I just took my "medicine" and am going to follow the critter's lead. - Judy

"Critters Helping To Garden", Tuesday - March 31, 2009 10:45 AM
I forgot to tell you how the critters were acting while we were working in the yard....
All grown Bullies were in outside dog runs, except for Jeb and Ruckus. Melanie was following Bob every step that he made which included trying to help him dig holes. Boy if I could just train her, she's a powerful digger. Jeb grabbed a long wisteria runner in his mouth and tried to help pull it out. Then Bob let Ruckus outside. Jeb doesn't like him because Ruckus tries to herd Jeb like he does me. Jeb growled at him a couple of time last week so I've endeavored to keep them apart. Well Ruckus was stepping on the "good" plants, wadding in buttercup foliage and just being a pest as Jeb sat in the driveway watching us. Oops Ruckus tried to herd me and Jeb came running to the rescue, got between me and Ruckus then snapped at Ruckus as if to say, leave my Mama Judy alone, she'll fall 'cause she's got a bad leg. Bob took Ruckus back into the house so we could work in peace. Moments later I heard Jeb pulling the water hose across the back porch, headed for his den. He got as far as the back-door when he accidentally upset a broom and it fell on his head. That's when he decided it was too much trouble. 30 feet he pulled that big ole commercial size water hose. lol lol

I've decided we try to protect Ruckus too much because of his bad eye, but now it's time to let Jeb teach him some manners, starting as soon as I'm feeling a little better because I want to be there to control the situation. Jeb won't hurt him, but he'll make Ruckus think he's going to eat him up!! lol lol When Melanie acted like she was going to take matters into her own paws Bob and I both told her "no" so now she avoids Ruckus. I'm going to tell her it's OK to take up for herself and see if that helps. Again she won't hurt him but she'll get her point across.

"I'm Stupid!!!", Tuesday - March 31, 2009 5:10 AM
Any normal person who is coughing and has a high temperature would immediately go to bed, but we all know I'm not normal. The young man who calls ever so often wanting to know if we have any work for him, came today. Not knowing when he would be back, I HAD to get some yard work done. I took an antihistimine, 2 tablespoons of whiskey mixed with twice as much water to dialate my treachea and an Aleve to control the fever, then off to work I went.

The helper worked with Bob until around 10 AM, then we started working in the yard. Bob, the helper and I planted in raised beds 25 of those sticks in the buckets, I just hope they will all live. They are Angel's Trumpets of different colors, click on the above link for more pictures. After that the young man and I started in cutting back and digging up wisteria. If a friend of yours mentions getting wisteria, beg them not to do it, however if you really don't like a person but circumstances demand you be around them and act civil ... buy them a wisteria plant. lol lol The dern things try to take over their environment, worse than kutzu I assure you and almost as bad as bermuda grass. Stores should not be allowed to sell them, or at least there should be a warning on the label.

The helper asked if I ever raked up all the dead leaves in the yard area and I told him no, they helped to control unwanted growth, weeds and things, plus enriched the soil. We've never planted grass seed because I wanted the area to be rustic looking with tuffs of wild grass and native wildflowers, but at times it gets totally out of hand. Those wild things are wild about growing. MICHELLE, PICK ALL THOSE WEEDS OUT OF THE PLANTS I GAVE YOU. DON'T GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO GO TO SEED.

Around 1 PM, I stopped long enough to take more "medicine" and fix lunch. Long about 3:30 PM I was done for, I couldn't continue working so we called it a day. Whew!! When the young man left, Bob & I took a break, then started back working. It was around 7 PM when I had to have more "medicine" because my breathing became ragged and we called it a day. Now tell me I'm NOT stupid. Bob just shook his head but didn't say a word knowing I was determined to get those Angel's Trumpets in the ground, since rain was in the immediately forecast. - Judy

I'm going back to bed which is what I should have done yesterday. My voice is like a frog croaking.- Judy

"Road Kill Rules", Monday - March 30, 2009 9:45 AM
First off, here in west Tennessee at the Mississippi border, we are getting into warm weather and that's bad for judging how long ago a critter was killed by a passing vehicle, plus they spoil quickly when it's hot. A sure fire indication of road kill that's beyond the eating stage is buzzards circling in the air. I'm a firm believer that it's the smell of rotting flesh that brings them in, but many will disagree. At any rate, you don't want to have to fight the buzzards for the kill.

If it's big game you looking for such as deer, early morning and early night are the times for driving the highways. BUT be careful cause the deer could be just knocked out and if you load it up and it comes around, woo doggie it makes for a dangerous situation. Not too far from here years ago 911 got a call from a man in a telephone booth .. seems he spotted a dead deer loaded it in the back seat of his Cadillac. The long and short of it, the deer came around, there was a telephone booth near, he went to call 911, meanwhile the deer is tearing up the backseat of his car and along comes the pack of dogs that evidently chased the deer onto the road in the first place. The man had the scent of deer on him so they surround the telephone booth, snapping, pawing and growling. He's trying to hold the door closed to keep the dogs out while trying to tell the operator where he was and what was going on. Meanwhile the half crazed deer is steadly destroying the backseat of his Caddie. The sheriff's deputy played the recording for my husband but not for me, "Ms Judy, you don't want to hear the language the man uses". The men in the neighborhood were almost bent double laughing when he played the tape out in the yard.

Eric is now reserved and will be going to middle Tennessee to live. He is to be picked up later this week.

Have a good day and I hope the above made you smile.

"Flu Or Something Dang Near Like It", Monday - March 30, 2009 8:30 AM
Yesterday afternoon while working in the kitchen I realized the apricots and plums we had purchased were getting overly ripe. I washed them good sliced them up, sprinkled with brown sugar and cooked them in the microwave until the plums were totally cooked but the apricots still held their shape, somewhat. Bob loved it and thought I had invented a "new dish" but I told him it was a southern thing to do when you had too much fruit on hand and that after it was cooked you could put it in the freezer for use later, use some to cook a cobbler, add Brandy for an easy Brandied Fruit, etc. He made a big dent in the amount by eating it over ice cream twice yesterday.

I've got the flu or something dang near like it. I surely hope I didn't pass this along to any of the new puppy parents. Thursday when we met Michelle we stopped in a little store for a few minutes and there was another customer who was coughing and kept getting close to me. We left on that account and now I'm the one doing the coughing.

I've got a ton of work to do but ..... - Judy

"Update on Ginger - now "Kassy", Sunday - March 29, 2009 1:30 PM
Received an update and photos of "Kassy".

Just wanted to tell you we love our little girl!
She had a good trip home and her poos are good too.
She loves her new home and everyone wants to hold her
constantly, but we also like to watch her hop like a bunny
when she plays with Sissy.

She is eating all of her food and even slept with me last night.
She woke me up to go potty like a big girl. She is perfect!

We thank you both so much.

"Update on the Little Drummer Boy - now "Knox", Sunday - March 29, 2009 1:00 PM
Received an update and photos of Knox.

Hello Judy and Bob,

I wanted to email and let ya'll know how your
"little drummer boy" is doing!
We named him Knox and he isn't so little anymore.
He is growing so fast. He weighed 10 lbs when we got him
and Wednesday the vet said he was up to 14.5lbs.
I knew he was getting big when I had to lift with my knees :)

He has some alpha male moments but he is getting better.
We also started puppy school and he is doing very well.
He is very stubborn about where and when he wants to walk,
so we are having to work on that.
He has learned how to sit and how to "leave" his treat.
We are almost potty trained...almost ;)

We have only had 2 poopy accidents since he arrived
and now we are just trying to work on the peeing :0
His little bladder just can't hold much.
Ian let him on the couch and there was no going back!
he and daddy hangout during the day
and take long naps snuggled up to each other.

My mom sent him a huge box full of toys...
which he carried one by one into his play area!
She also sent him a puppy bed which he loves!
We put it in our room next to our bed
and didn't think anything else about it
until puppy wasn't in eye sight...
we found him in his bed sound asleep.
He has slept in that bed every night for over a week.
He wakes up when Ian gets home, goes out to potty
and then comes back to sleep until I wake up for work.

He has made a friend with another bully named Libby.
She is a yr old but Knox had a blast with her.
At first, he wasn't so sure about her
but the next thing I knew he was pouncing
and playing all over the place.
Once he saw her lay on her back and get her belly rubbed,
he soon was rolled over and wanting the same.

He has brought so much joy to us
and made us so happy in such a short time.
Thank you so much for giving us this precious,
funny, quirky, loving bully!

I have attached some pictures we have taken over
the last 3 weeks. Hope you enjoy!

Danielle and Ian

"Even Cooler Today" Sunday - March 29, 2009 11:45 AM
Bob eased out of bed this morning to take care of the critters, thus allowing me to sleep in. I didn't get up until 10 AM. I surely needed to recoup and may go back to bed as soon as I get my must do chores completed. Although the puppies need to go to their new homes because they are running me ragged with all the eating, pooping and clean up, I believe I just get stressed out letting go of them and it takes a toll on my physical well being. A day or two in bed should get me back in Rock-N-Roll shape. lol lol

"Cold Snap", Saturday - March 28, 2009 7:00 PM
Dog Gone It!! The low is forecasted to be 35 F with a "Real Feel" of 26 F, I suppose I better at least bring in the seeds cups. lol lol We only left one GIANT crate on the back porch for the "strays that came to stay" and they are pouting. They want the other crates back so they will have their own den. I told them they were going to have to make do because all those crates were taking up to much room on the back porch. - Judy

"Jack Pickup in Walnut, MS", Saturday - March 28, 2009 5::40 PM
Jack loved Jason's beard and Kathy wanted both Jack and Eric. lol lol They settled on Jack, who is the one Jason wanted from the start. They are a wonderful couple. He keeps any conversation lively with his quick wit and comic banter. Kathy is a real puppygal, she holds critters close to her heart.

Let me catch my breath for a few minutes or maybe a few hours, then I'll post pictures. The wind was gosh awful, we all got in Jason's car to play with puppies and I like to have never gotten out, this ole shoulder wouldn't let me put enough pressure on my arm to help lift me up, but finally with Bob's help I got out.

Inbetween Ginger leaving this morning and Jack going to his new home this afternoon I had several calls from people inquiring about puppies. I had to tell them all that I was brain dead, no sleep last night and we've been running in third gear for too long. We stopped at Wal-Mart after Lydia and family got Ginger but when we came out we couldn't find the van. Never has that happened before but it sure happened today. I'll never again laugh at people roaming a parking lot in search of their car, I know how it feels .... tired. - Judy

"Ginger Pickup in Corinth, MS", Saturday - March 28, 2009 8:15 AM
Lydia and her family got up at 4 AM this morning to drive from Georgia to Mississippi to meet us and pick up their new "baby"! Such a great family! AND they brought their WHOLE family - a Pekinese and a Boston bulldog so Everyone got to welcome Ginger! New name "Kassy"! (I'm thinking that Kassy has a new daddy!)

"I bet the crappie are biting", Friday - March 27, 2009 8:15 PM
The goldfish were busily mating in the pool, so I bet the crappie are biting. I would love a big ole mess of crappie with sides of cole slaw and hushpuppies. Good eating!! BUT you know by now that when I go fishing I use multiple poles which can get confusing if more than one strikes at a time, it's just a Judy Thing. - Judy

"How I plant Iris (lol lol), Friday - March 27, 2009 11:15 AM

How I plant Iris......

Pick a place in the yard partial shade to full sun, lay down several layers of newspaper or thin cardboard about the size of a large bag of potting soil, dump a sack of potting soil on top, lay down Iris rhizome, dump another 1/2 bag of soil on top. Then you water this down with your sprayer head set on "shower". As the soil gets wet and settles you will begin to see the very top of the rhizome, that's good. Doing thus creates an area which will drain well which is what Iris like. I feed them bulb food when planted, then a couple of times during the summer.(Bermuda Grass can't be stopped, it will send runners up and over and come from beneath I hate the stuff.)

"Winston (was Hershey)going home!!!", Friday - March 26, 2009 11 AM
Michelle sent pictures of Winston on the way home and after he got settled:

Hi!!
Just wanted to you let you all know that Winston did GREAT!
on the way home he slept literally all but maybe an hour!!
What a trooper!

I have attached some pics of his trip home and first night in his new home.
He was a little scared at first but after about an hour or so he was getting
better at walking around and exploring.
This morning he is even feeling better about his new home!!

Thanks again!! We LOVE him!
Michelle

"Hershey is on his way home!!!", Thursday - March 25, 2009 7:30 PM
Chris and Michelle loved him and thought he was the most beautiful English Bulldog they had ever seen. They said they thought he was great looking after seeing his pictures and videos but after seeing him in person they felt he was a hundred times more handsome. We had a wonderful visit with them and I feel very confident I chose great parents for Hershey. Pictures will be posted later tonight or tomorrow morning. - Judy

"It finally rained", Thursday - March 25, 2009 8:34 AM
If it hadn't rained last night I was going to pull that heavy water hose around the yard to water in the flea and tick stuff, so I'm mighty proud of this rain for that reason, plus all the vegetation needed a good long drink. I firmly believe, "Water from a hose, keeps them alive until Mother Nature sends a rain to make them thrive."

We've completed the first round of chores and are taking a breakfast break. I'm headed outside to dig plants for Michelle. I'll be back later with pictures. This picture is of one of the young peach trees, taken in 2004.- Judy

"Spring House Cleaning", Wednesday - March 25, 2009 7:00 PM
We had a young man come to help with the heavy stuff so I got into the spring house cleaning mode. I would never have thought it, but now I'm convinced a person could kill themselves working too hard. Bob and I both are about to drop. He even got a little testy with me, which he almost never does. I'm the testy one!! lol lol

Puppies are doing great, Bob took them for their well puppy exam yesterday. The only problem was Jack has a twitching left eye ball. Bob tried to show me but it wouldn't do it for him. Today I kept picking him up and Bob would hold the lids open further than normal. Yep I saw it. I searched the internet and I can't find anything about a twitching eye ball, but let me tell you if someone held my eyelid open like that I would have more than a twitching eye ball. I asked the new owner to contact his vet to see what he thought. Our vet was suppose to call me back with the name, but they are shorthanded since our regular vet, his brother, is out with a knee injury.

Michelle who is getting Hershey tomorrow is also getting a load of plants for her new yard; Iris, Daylilies, semi-dwarf peach trees and anything else I can think of to take to her. The peach trees are purple leafed and the early spring blooms are a delight. It takes several years for them to start producing fruit but meanwhile she can enjoy the trees.

I'm bringing this day to a close. I'm going to snuggle up in bed and read a mystery, Bob bought me 10 books at the junk store last weekend, including a Perry Mason I hadn't read, what a delight. - Judy

"Whew Doggie!!!", Tuesday - March 24, 2009 7:30 PM
Pictures as promised. Remember these are the BEFORE pictures. Looks really dismal and the first reaction of most folks would be to throw all that MESS away, but believe me when I say "a little tender loving care will do wonders".
A snapshot of Rolo & Hershey as I pass through the kitchen to make sure all was well. Rolo's saying, "I'm trying to sleep here!!"

"My Tail Feathers Are Draggin'", Tuesday - March 24, 2009 5:10 PM
Weather Forecast For Tonight: Lows in the lower 50s. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to near 45 mph becoming southwest 15 to 20 mph and gusty after midnight. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Now don't you know we've removed the poly covering on the porch, brought all the Angel's Trumpets out onto the porch from a second story bedroom and the barn, moved all the seed cups to the porch, potting soil makings moved to an area so I can mix and pot, etc. Now the wind is blowing everything every which way. lol lol I'm so tired I don't even care. I'm determined to get the house back in order and to heck with the plants if that is what it takes. Bob took pictures today of all the mess because it amazes him how I can transform the "sticks" into beautiful Angel's Trumpets. I try to tell him anyone can do it but he's convinced I have a special plant power. I have to admit I do have good luck with them so I'll go on letting him believe I have a special way with plants. Today I used Black Cow Manure Compost, cheap soil conditioner, perlite and peat moss. Tossed in alfalfa pellets, timed released fertilizer, a little 13-13-13. When I finished I asked Bob to compare the texture to that of Miracle Grow potting soil, this was before the alfalfa, by holding a small handful of each, Both were the same. I like a little sand in my potting soil if I'm potting up begonias but right now I'm going to pot up the Angel's Trumpets which by the way are fertilizer hogs. About every 4 weeks I fed them with Bayer's Rose 2-in-1, with in between feedings of miracle grow, I toss the blue crystals into the pots or around the plant if it is in the ground, then water it in. I've found this is easier than making up the Miracle Grow or attaching a container to a water hose. Dragging a heavy hose is just too much for me. With as many plants as I normally have, the water hose dragging, stooping over to care for the puppies as well as the adult dogs, will get me down in my back quickly.

I've done enough today to kill me, but I'll be back later to post the pictures Bob took if they turned out well. - Judy

PS A general recipe for potting soil is: Equal parts soil, sand, vermiculite, peat moss and compost and all purpose fertilizer.

"Sleepy, Lazy Monday ", Monday - March 23, 2009 1:00 PM
I think I'll crawl back into bed for a long afternoon nap ... lol lol .... wishful thinking. I have a mound of washing to do. I've already washed up the morning dishes and poopy puppy sheets have been cleaned, but now it starts anew, time to feed them all again. All the grown critters want to be outside to enjoy the nice weather, but we've put down flea and tick granular which have not been watered down so that's out. It's been suppose to rain and now it's cloudy but no rain so far. As sure as I pull that heavy hose all around the big yard area to wet it all down there will be a gully washer that will wash all the granules away.

I'm wanting to take down the poly covering the porch and rearrange the plants but AccuWeather shows 34F for next Monday so I really need to wait. On the other hand, so what if some of them don't make it. It will save me the problem of next winter deciding which to give away and which to winter-over.

We were sitting out in the yard with Jerry Lee and Melanie when all of a sudden she squealed out, turned to me and lifted a paw like it was hurt. I asked Bob to put up Jerry Lee, right quick, so we could take care of Melanie. She followed him into the house as if nothing happened. Either she was fooling me to get attention, since Bob was holding Jerry Lee or it wasn't a big deal. Doesn't this sound like something kids would do!!

Speaking of critters, if the strays are not on the porch and I want them, I call out "kitty, kitty" and they will come running. Why, because they think the cats are getting something special to eat. The cockateils are making puppy squealing sounds which causes us to jump and run. I got so tired of it this morning, I asked Bob to cover their cages, but then decided we would just take a break, by going out into the yard to sit a spell and talk. That was when Melanie "hurt her foot". lol The critters are trying to drive me crazy today. - Judy

Judy is a PuppyGal and always has been -- bringing in strays, thrown away puppies and other creature for the last 55 years, we will have to assume she was five years old before she brought in her first one. When she was four years old she went missing and hours later they found her under her Grandparent's old country farmhouse. She had snuggled up next to their big white dog and fell asleep. She and their eight yard dogs roamed the 100 acre farm, everyone content that the dogs would protect her. While other little girls played with dolls, PuppyGal and the dogs followed behind her Papa as he plowed the fields, feed the goats or milked the cows. Life changed, Papa passed away, she lived full time in the city, got a good education and became an executive for a National Corporation. One day she decided they were robbing her of her life so she told them "I'm Through Now" and returned to the country and her first love, dogs....smashed faced, snorting Bulldogs.
