Frequently Asked Questions....

We have listed the answers to the most frequently asked questions in order to pass on the information to everybody. As we encounter additional questions, we will attempt to answer them here.

What are English Bulldogs Puppies like?

If you have ever been around a 10 year old boy for any length of time you know exactly how a Bully pup will act; they burp and pass gas in your face and never seem to hear a word you say!!!

What Makes The Pricing Different?

The shorter, fatter and more smashed the face the higher the price. We sell our AKC for $1,500, CKC $1300 and Unregistered for $1,200 - $1500, most are Mini-Bulldogs. The CKC normally do not look as good as the AKC, the Unregistered DO but are limited in number. The Mini-Bulldogs are beautiful!!

When Will The Pups Be Ready For Their New Home?

They let me know, so it's hard to fix a date. Normally it is when they are 7 -8 weeks old. If a pup is going to get sick, it will normally be within a week to 10 days after they are weaned, because they are not longer covered by their mother's immunity. I certainly do not want you to get an unhealthy pup therefore the extra time helps to insure that you don't.

Do You Ship Your Pups? If Not, Why?

We do not ship our puppies. We feel the trip is traumatic plus being unsafe (over 5,000 animals were injured in 1999 during shipping by airline). I cannot bear to ship the puppies. I got as far as the airport once but turned around and came home with the pup. I'm just an overly protective "Mama". We encourage people to come to our house to meet "our gang", the parents and grandparents of their new puppy.

We will deliver a pup to you at the Memphis Airport so that you can hand-carry it back home. A live animal reservation must be made with the airline to take the pup on board a plane and there is a charge. An airline approved carrier can be bought at most any large Pet Supply Store. The airlines require a Health Certificate which we can get from our Vet. There will be an additional $50 charge for this service.

Do you accept deposits?

I accept deposits on specific pups only. However once you have made a deposit, it will not be refunded if you change your mind or you are unable to pick up the pup for any reason.

What is your Health Guarantee?

We guarantee for one year, against life threatening inherited conditions. We do not guarantee against puppy diseases because we cannot control the environment once the pup has left us.Please click here for specific details. Any and all medical issues must be verified with a second opinion. If we're smart we get a second opinion on our serious health issues because doctors/vets do make mistakes and knowledge levels differ.

What about Vet visits and Puppy shots?

The puppy will be given their first puppy shot, and be checked by our vet prior to being delivered into your hands. It is necessary to be extremely prudent in protecting a puppy until the full series of puppy shots have been given. Normally there are 4 shots given every 2-3 weeks in hopes of catching it's immunity system when it is receptive. The shots protect against several often fatal puppy diseases and it is possible that a single shot may give no protection or full immunity. There is no way of knowing. My advice is to keep the puppy home and ask all visitors to wash their hands prior to handling the pup. Friends and neighbors can bring a virus into your home on their hands or shoes. Do not allow it on ground which could be contaminated, this includes on the way home from getting the puppy - no potty breaks on unsure ground!!!.

What about skin problems?

Bulldogs may experience skin problems from time to time, especially during
- wet weather most prominent in Spring & Fall**
- if not properly groomed
- high stress conditions such as surgery, boarding, changes in environments, etc.

The very first course of action should be the medicated shampoo Malaseb Shampoo(TM) I personally know this shampoo works so do not waste your money on anything else. This shampoo will solve fungus and bacterial problems.

**Several of mine have at one time or the other had a "hot spot" which is a fungus. I believe this is the result of getting too warm and wet. It mainly happens in the spring or fall when the temperature fluctuates and therefore hard to second guess. Our weather is always humid and very hot in the summer.

Where Are You Located?

We are building a house, with our own hands, in the country 80 miles east of Memphis, TN right on the Mississippi/Tennessee state line. To approximate where we are located, find Corinth, MS on a map.

What's Your Environment?

It's a real Zoo plus the house is only 80% complete (still under construction). Our style of living is "camping out". We started building the house and shortly thereafter my husband was diagnosed as having cancer. He was one of the lucky ones but since we had both "retired" the medical bills stripped us of cash we were planning on using for the house. He had to go back to work. Almost immediately I got an additional 10 dogs (long story). After that I had to stay here full time to look after them. So there was no going back to our other house at night. My husband retired again and we getting ready to finish the house.

How Many Pets/Dogs Do You Have?

The last time I counted I had 16 dog, so I stopped counting. You wouldn't ask a drug addict what they were on or an alcoholic how much they drank, so you can't ask me How Many! Let it suffice to say from morning to night I'm taking care of dogs: bathing, clipping nails, feeding, cleaning up after, washing doggie clothes, etc. At least once a week they have chicken that I cook, removing the skin plus fat, take off the bone, etc. They are spoiled rotten and take their turn being with "mama".

Our attitude has been "there is always room for one more". I had just placed the last of my "rescue dogs", I was actually down by one so what did I do - I GOT another one! Then 3 stray dogs "came to stay". My vet just shook his head when I took it in the last one to be neutered. I should be getting a discount by now; I'll have to check on that.

I could, but won't, fill 20 e-mails talking about our bulldogs, stray dogs that have come to stay; "someone's thrown away" cats that live under the porch and the 13 year old boy, not related, who came to visit and just stayed for 10 months.

Do You Have Children?

No. I've never had children. My dogs have always taken the place of the children, I didn't have.

My Mother swears my dogs are treated better than a lot of children in this world. Although I take in stray dogs, cats and people. Please don't let this give anyone the idea that they can drop off their kid, like people drop off their dogs. The last one that was abandoned here was almost too much!!! We had him for 10 months!!!

Are Bullies good with children?

Bully puppies are little chunks of lead who will run straight at you then throw on their brakes, but sometime they fail. This could accidently hurt a small child or small pet. As a general rule we do not place our puppies in homes where there are young children because we feel there is too much competition for attention and the puppy will not get as much as is needed to insure it becomes a good companion. I am also of the opinion that puppies make young children hyper and young children make puppies hyper.

The following is a little something I wrote for a website I created for a friend:

Each Bully has their own lovable personality and sweet disposition! They are both intelligent and hard headed, but trainable.

Bully pups as a general rule are not mellow. They are rowdy pups, on-the-go teenagers, active adults and tend to be heading toward the "couch potato" mode around 2 years of age.

They are high demand and high maintenance, but worth every moment of care. They pass gas, burp and snore, but make you smile through your worse heartache.
