Another stray has appeared or is trying not to be apparent. It's a Blue Heeler as best I can
tell. He's taken up with the other 3 strays that have come to stay. Two months ago I first
caught glimpses of him early, early in the morning as he slinked off into the woods. Now he
allows himself to be seen occasionally. He spends every night out in the gravel drive under
the security light with the other dogs. He even ventures up to the wrap around porches of the
house at times when it rains and the other night as I went out onto the porch the other three
came running to greet me, my peripheral vision caught a slight movement and when I turned I saw
just his head around the corner of the house, he wanted to be loved on, but is still afraid.
Life is interesting.....

I got stung by a Bumble Bee yesterday afternoon. I had a violent reaction to a sting as
a young child. Since then Doctors have told me "If you get stung again, you may not be
allergic or it may kill you. There is no way of knowing." I'm here to tell you it
scared the heck out of me, I came running into the house stuck my hand, which was throbbing
by this time, under the water faucet then grabbed a box of salt, poured me a handful and
just sat holding it for 30 minutes, watching. I had read on the Internet that the salt
draws out the poison and it really worked, you can't even tell I was stung!!!
Now ain't that a "butt wiggle"!!! (Most of our Bullies wiggle
their butts when they are happy, hence the "butt wiggle" phrase).
I'm back to normal, full of energy, this morning. I'm going to answer those 64 e-mails, take pictures of
Miss B's puppies, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

I have received 54 e-mails which I have not answered to date because....
I've had, what I think was, the West Nile Virus for about 10 days now. I'm just getting to
the point where I'm eating a little, like mashed potatoes. We don't have many mosquitoes
here because I have the propane Mosquito Trap, plus we nurture our frogs, etc. I always use
the Coleman electronic mosquito repellent small canister that you attach to your clothes BUT...
I went to Tupelo shopping and didn't protect myself. I'm highly allergic to any kind of
insect bites anyway much less one carrying the West Nile Virus, so I've been one very sick person.
Yesterday was the first day I could even help Bob tend to "our gang". Bob is an absolutely
wonderful person, but he hates housework therefore everything is in a mess, so now I've got
to regroup and get things back on track...one step at a time. It will take me a whole day
just to clean the kitchen!!!
I'm still not mentally capable of answering all those e-mails, so please be patient.
Judy
PS (11:45)It may be a while before I answer e-mails or clean the kitchen.. I just tried to put the
dishes in the washing machine, instead of the dishwasher. I'm going back to bed!!!
Date: Wednesday - 08/07/02 - 5:00 PM
In case you are wondering, Bob and I are both sick, chills/fever swollen glands kinda thing.
I guess we've been under too much stress and working too hard.
We lost Miss B's tiny female,BUT we have 5 beautiful males. As soon as we get to feeling
a little better, we will take individual pictures of the puppies and notify those people
who have been on the Waiting List the longest so they can pick.
Please do not call, I don't feel like answering the telephone.
Thanks,
Judy

How do I soften the news for you? I can't....the tiny male has passed away? The cause of death is
"fading puppy syndrome". The first 3 days are critical for this reason. Although we tried to
have the right attitude "better now than later", we still frantically tried everything and
walked the floor with the pup in hopes that human warmth would somehow bring it through.
Every Bully breeder has these types of situations. That is why Bullies are so expensive. If a breeder
says they don't, they either haven't been raising Bullies long or they are being evasive. They just
try to keep people from knowing about them.
We feel allowing everyone to know the "downside" is just part of connecting the Puppy Parents to their
pups as young as possible. About the time I decide to forego all the pictures, e-mails, etc.
I get an e-mail from someone telling me what a wonderful experience it was for them to "almost"
be there when the pup was born.
Tomorrow I'm sure will be nothing but smiles!!!

Right now we are deeply concerned about the "tiny" male, he started to fade in the middle of the
night. He isn't doing any better this morning and we may loose him. As soon as his fate is known
we will take pictures, until then we are a bit too strung.
Every time I face the possible death of a puppy, it reminds me to make the best of today for we
don't know about our tomorrow!!

So far Miss B's puppies are doing great. They are really growing and finally Miss B has decided
she just might like being a mother.
Skeeter, Sassy T's puppy and absolutely one of my all time favorites, had an umbilical hernia
repaired today, at 6 1/2 weeks old and weighing in at 3 lbs. When we entered the Vet's office
he was fussy because he was hungry, sucking on my arm, chin, fingers trying to tell me to feed
him. I forgot his pacifier!! When their telephone rang, it startled him, he barked, and his own
barking scared him. So I'm calling him my "sissy guard dog". No other puppy has ever sucked
on a pacifier AND barked at a telephone ringing. Immediately after the surgery he was delivered
to my arms. I sat holding him for a while and then when his eyes began to flick open for a
second at a time, we headed for home. I drove using one hand with him snug in the fold of my
other arm.
His new family will be here to get him Friday. It's an early release but I felt very strongly
that his new family should experience this marvelous puppy at this stage. They will bond for
forever!!! But I'm going to cry!!!

A couple of notes from Bob:
#1: Max's new parents, Chris and Dawn, flew down from Chicago to get him.
He's a laid back, beautiful little boy. Dawn told us about a web site with Adam Sandler's new bulldog,
"Meatball".
Adam Sandler had a movie featuring a talking bulldog, "Mr. Beefy". Anyway, Meatball is a
spitting image of our Pepper Jack!
#2: Judy got a request from the company that animated the movie, "Chicken Run", to use the
picture of Michele and her friends holding three bulldogs (the one on the index page).
It's for an episode of the "Angry Kid" show that they are creating now and will be
used as a prop. - Bob

5:00 PM - Miss 'B' had 7 puppies -- 6 males & 1 female!! 4 big ones, 1 medium & 2 very small
but active. The female is the smallest one. All the puppies look like PepperJack and
will be red or fawn brindle.
Say a prayer that they will make it the first 3 critical days.
The above puppies will be available to be reserved on Friday, but only to the people who
have Already been approved to be Puppy Parents. People approved prior to 7/1 will have the
first choice.
We do NOT have any additional/upcoming litters (pregnant females) at this time.

11:00 AM - Such sad news, the largest of Amber's female died last night due to fluid on her lungs.
Miss B just started showing signs of going in to labor, I've called the vet and we're to meet
him shortly
Life goes on so we must postpone our mourning for the lost puppy.

Amber finally started showing signs of going into labor!!!! She had two absolutely beautiful
female puppies, both of which are RESERVED. Her c-section (surgery) was very long and complicated,
the details of which you do not want to hear. These are the first puppies sired by Mini-E and we
are extremely pleased with the results. You've got to have Heart!
Miss Bea, bred to PepperJack, is due to deliver any day so we're still in a high anxiety mode. I keep thinking eventually
we will be less anxious in regard to "approaching delivery" but it's not likely since we been raising Bullies
for 12 years now!!
The puppies are calling....
