Such sad news, the largest of Amber's female died last night due to fluid on her lungs.
Miss B just started showing signs of going in to labor, I've called the vet and we're to meet
him shortly
Life goes on so we must postpone our mourning for the lost puppy.

Amber finally started showing signs of going into labor!!!! She had two absolutely beautiful
female puppies, both of which are RESERVED. Her c-section (surgery) was very long and complicated,
the details of which you do not want to hear. These are the first puppies sired by Mini-E and we
are extremely pleased with the results. You've got to have Heart!
Miss Bea, bred to PepperJack, is due to deliver any day so we're still in a high anxiety mode. I keep thinking eventually
we will be less anxious in regard to "approaching delivery" but it's not likely since we been raising Bullies
for 15 years now!!
The puppies are calling....

We've been going through the devil with Amber, our very pregnant female. She's overdue, by a minimum of 4 days and
compared to my other Bullies - 6 days!!!! Bob got too excited when he took her temperature
on Friday, thought it was below normal so we took her to the vet's but she wasn't ready.
The vet called Saturday and said he didn't think she was pregnant compared to the records on
our other females and suggested we bring her in for x-rays on Monday.
I told my friend that if Amber was not pregnant I was just going to stop raising Bullies
because I sure didn't know what I'm doing. I have never seen a Bully look more pregnant.
Meanwhile another friend called to say they were shipping a "sonogram" type of hand held
device, to me from Chicago so I could use it to tell if Amber was having "babies" or not.
They are going to walk me through using it via telephone.
People were here Friday, Saturday & Sunday to pick up KC's pups. Everyone was delightful!!
We forgot to take pictures of the last 2 families with their puppy. We were having too much fun
talking about raising Bullies and showing them "our gang". I did get an email from the company that
animated "Chicken Run" to use one of the pictures for a 'prop' in a upcoming movie.
Chrissy, my hope for a line of Mini-Bulls, was bred to Mini-E but she immediately got a really
bad infection so there won't be any puppies. She is responding very well to the antibiotics.
I just hope this will not interfere with her being able to have puppies in the future.
My lovable Priss hurt herself really bad Saturday night. Don't ask me how but she got
her leg caught under the fence of the dog run she was in and made a big gash getting free.
She's so sweet and humble. She is doing very well now, but what a heartbreaker!!!
Got up this morning and since there were no signs of Priss or Miss B going into labor, I
took my 77 year old Mother on our every 2 weeks shopping trip to the "big city".
Bob, of course stayed home with "our gang".

Amber's still holding out on having those "babies". Tomorrow, we have 3 sets of people coming
to our house to get their puppy from KC's litter, so Amber may be going to wait until she has an
audience. More than likely, we will be at the Vet's bright and early.
We had a "Katie Bar The Door" storm last night that almost brought a tree down on the house.
It's touching so we'll have to have it cut down real soon.
Life can get interesting at Dogwood Pond!!!

We're exhausted and the day has just begun!!! We're getting very little sleep because we're up
every 2 hrs with Reba's babies plus we are constantly watching Amber for signs of going
into labor. She isn't displaying any of the signs this morning so she won't be going in for
a c-section today!!
If you're the lucky new owner of one of KC's Litter, be prepared to find the house, etc. in a
mess!!
OK day, here I come!!!!

Goodness!!! Due to overwhelming pressure from Approved Puppy Parents who want one of Reba's
puppies, I decided last night to allow them to go ahead and pick. I sent e-mails to all
Prior Approved individuals and uploaded individual pictures of the pups. Four of the puppies
were "Reserved" within an hour.
The husband of the lady who reserved Natasha had a change of heart this morning and
wanted Boris instead. I then decided to hold the female pup and make a decision at a later
date on keeping her. I am also holding a female from Charlotte and another from Kate for a future
decision. Most of our "girls" are getting old so we decided to keep at least 2 female puppies
as future breeders.
Tomorrow is the first due date for Amber!!!!

Reba had 5 beautiful puppies last night via c-section. She almost fooled us because she
wasn't acting like she was going into labor, fortunately we got her to the Dr Jerry in time.

There are 4 males and 1 female. These puppies are available ONLY to people who are
Approved Puppy Parents-To-Be. We are NOT taking new applications.
The first 3 days are critical, so we'll hold our breath and say a prayer!! After a week,
we'll take individual pictures and allow people who have already been Approved to pick which
puppy they want!!! It will be on a "first come" basis within this group of people.
Amber's due date is getting near, Tuesday the 16th!!!

Unfortunately, Sara Jane & Baby Snookums are not having puppies. My Vet said I had just stuffed them!!
They were so fat, I thought maybe there was a pup waiting to be born.
I spent the weekend after the 4th, cleaning and sanitizing another person's kennel, including outside runs.
She had gotten behind in her cleaning due to ill health, so we moved out everything and cleaned from top to bottom.
In total I used 10 gallons of Clorox - if it didn't move I either washed it with a Clorox solution or threw it away.
Speaking of washing, I bathed 30 Poodles, Maltese and Chihuahuas and those little "buggers" sure were sweet.
I put in 14 hours each day and "like to have killed myself".
Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

God Bless America and Dr Frank, my Veterinarian!!!
We're going to celebrate the 4th of July by watching Sara Jane & Baby Snookums
(mother and daughter) very closely for signs of going into labor. If they are pregnant,
the pup or two, are on the right side/horn of their uterus (the uterus is composed of a left and right horn).
Imagine looking from one side and think they are not pregnant then looking on the other side
and thinking they are. Oh Well, only time will tell.
The other 3 girls (Reba, Miss Bea & Amber) are definitely going to have "babies".
Reba is so big that I think she is going to have a litter of 10, like her
mother before her. I would guess Amber is going to have 5 puppies
the same as her other litter. Miss Bea is pregnant for sure but I have no guess as to the
number of babies.
Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July!!!

Goodness Gracious, have we been busy. I won't go into detail, but we've shed
many tears which were wiped away by smiles this past month.
Kate, who recently delivered via c-section, started to "clean" her pup.
Immediately, she foaming at the mouth. Imagine a dog trying to spit! She was
so funny, she would lick lightly, make a face, foam at the mouth, then try
doing it again.
We have 5 pregnant females who are scheduled to deliver during the
month of July, if all goes well, so life will be very busy.

I wish the weather would be consistent! It's either in the 50's or the 80's so we're all confused.
Last weekend my Mother, 77 years old, and I went to 1st Monday Trade Days At Ripley, MS. It a pretty
good size flea market and only 25 miles from our home. We enjoy our "girls only" once a month outing.
Bob stayed home with "our gang" on Saturday, but I talked him into going back on Sunday to take
pictures so you would know what it's like. I surprised him with two Silver Pheasants chicks on
Saturday but now regret doing so since they will not be quiet and of course they are in the house,
beside his computer. He loves birds!

It's getting a little too warm for me and the Bullies!! We've had to turn the a/c on in the afternoons
and have started getting up at 5AM to get our chores done before the temperature gets
too high. This morning just as the sun lit up our part of the world, I caught sight of
movement down by the pond, it was a herd of deer. Oh what a way to start the day!!!
Last weekend, I walked onto the side porch while talking on the telephone. I noticed our male cat
intently looking off into the woods, following his line of vision I saw a wild turkey taking off
into the underbrush. I'm sure my voice had startled him.
The past two weeks have been very busy. All of our females have come into heat at the same time.
Our experience has been that one out of three breedings result in a litter of puppies, therefore
we have bred a total of 7 females, hoping to get 2 litters. Three of these girls are getting old
and we have only a small hope of them having pups, but one line of our CKC Bullies is in danger of
being lost if I can't get a female puppy to keep as a future breeder. We will know by 5/15 which
of the females are pregnant. Assuming all goes well, the puppies will be born in June and be ready
for their new homes the middle to end of July.
I just have to stop myself from planting anything because whatever is planted now will need my attention
in June, when the new litters are due.
That's all the news for this week from Dogwood Pond....

Here in the woods the high is supposed to be 84, the sun is reflecting off the pond,
the Dogwood blooms are dancing in the wind, the Azaleas are at their showy best,
the trees are budding and everything is coming to life.
I'm multi tasking while doing the Karaoke routine to '60's and '70's music, dancing with the dogs who
are more than willing to kick up their heels, and slow dancing in the kitchen with Big Bob when
the right song comes on the radio.
I have country ham cooking for breakfast with trimmings cooking in a big pot of water to season
white kidney beans to be eaten with fresh green onions, pepper relish and hot buttered cornbread!!
All the feisty females dogs are in various stages of a heat cycle because it's spring, the time to reproduce
and the males dogs are anxious to be the suitor.
This is how life should be......

The week before Easter, we bought back 2 female Bullies that we had sold to a lady. She is a wonderful person and has
been recently diagnosed as having MS. She's still in shock and physically impaired as well. In addition,
her medical treatments are going to cost $1000 per month and she thinks she will be without a
job soon which means without insurance. She asked me to help her sell them, then a day later, she was
hospitalized in an emergency situation. A friend of hers called to ask if she brought the
Bullies to me could I keep them until they were sold. I left immediately on a 6 hr round
trip to meet the woman.
When I returned home, Bob and I discussed the situation and decided to
keep them. I bought the Bullies with the full understanding that she can have them back if
and whenever she wants. Our hearts and prayers go out to her.
Please say a prayer for Alicia!!

I love April!!! I can take all the plants out of the house and onto the porches.
I've been lax in keeping you updated for this I apologize. We've been going through some
major changes.
Bryant is no longer with us as of last week. His Grandparents were only recently told that he had been
living here since June and they wanted very much for him to come live with them. It was an
emotional decision for all concerned, but the best. I'm in contact with him almost daily.
He seems to be very content and has big plans for the summer.
We have four females in heat at present, Charlotte, Monica, Sara & Kate. Our average is one
out of three artificial breedings produces puppies, therefore they will all be bred in hopes
of producing at least one litter.
We're rushing to complete the first floor trim work, before the puppies arrive.
Let us hear from you!!!

"Our Bullies" (a little something I wrote for a web site I created for a friend)
Each Bully has their own lovable personality and sweet disposition!
They are both intelligent and hard headed, but trainable.
Bully pups as a general rule are not mellow. They are rowdy pups, on-the-go teenagers,
active adults and tend to be heading toward the "couch potato" mode around 2 years of age.
They are high demand and high maintenance, but worth every moment of care. They pass gas,
burp and snore, but make you smile through your worse heartache.
