Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders and Aggression

Never use a laser pointer beam to play with or exercise an animal. It can and will cause 'obsessive-compulsive disorders and aggression' to the point that the animal will have to be 'put down'. I have documented proof of this happening with an English Bulldog.

For months I tried to help a lady solve her Bully's behavior problems; self mutilation, aggression toward toys, mops, brooms, anything dangling.

It just did not make any sense to me at all. I knew the breeder who sold the lady the pup and none of her dogs were crazy. I thought it had a brain tumor or had been hit in the head, but the x-rays I recommended she have taken didn't show anything abnormal.

I got a copy of all the health records and the x-rays for my vet to give a second opinion, nothing unusual. Finally I asked the breeder to send me all email that the lady had sent to her regarding the Bully..... and there it was. Instead of taking the puppy outside to play or walk she ran it around her living room with the laser pointer and end the game by shining it on a toy, etc.

How very sad for the Bully. She has it with a professional trainer now and maybe he will be able to retrain it with the aid of medication.

Information presented here is strictly my opinion based upon research and/or 50 years experience at rescuing animals of all sorts. Consult your vet and perhaps even get a second opinion from another vet about all you read on my website.
