Puppy Gal's Dog Food Recipe

Kidney Gravy....

The Bullies love the Kidneys and they are so good for them since they are a great source of Vitamin B. Use this gravy to enhance the flavor of their commercial dog food and provide an additional source of Vitamin B, especially if your Bully is experiencing skin problems which could be the result of a Biotin deficiency.

-Place in a large pot and completely cover with water.
-Season with a little dried garlic
-Boil on medium heat until they are super tender
-Remove grease either by placing pot and all in the refrigerator until chilled the removing solidified grease, or remove meat and use a broth separator to remove the grease.
-Mash the meat with a potato masher
-Cut stringy pieces with a knife or toss in the trash
-Make gravy out of the meat and broth, using either corn starch or a flour/water mix poured into boiling broth to thicken.

Suggestions:

Put flour in a little jar with some water and to make a slurry, shaking it vigorously to dissolve, then added that to the meat & broth cook for approximately 5 minutes or until it thickens. If not thick enough, keep doing this until you get it thick enough to suit you.

Potato or other vegetable water, if you happen to have cooked a pot of vegetables use the leftover water to cook the kidneys, just so long as it does not contain salt.

The good thing about these guys is they aren't picky, so you can practice making gravy on them and they will love it.

I pour a little of the gravy, couple of heaping tablespoons, over their commercial dog food, either dry food or soaked food, dry food which has been soaked in water until it is puffy.

I keep my eyes alert to meats on sale because it is the "last sale date" and use whatever it is to fix gravy for the upcoming week. To pour on their food I just warm up whatever amount is needed in the microwave.
